Our server did not write down our order and completely forgot to bring the two appetizers we ordered. The cocktail I ordered was so strong it was undrinkable. The steak we ordered arrived on a very hot rock that caused grease to splatter all over the table and our clothes, ruining a pair of shorts. We had to ask for a plate to manage the situation. When we spoke to the manager afterward, they mentioned that they were already aware of the hot rock issue but offered no apology, no discount, and did not seem to view it as a problem worth addressing. Just overall very disappointing. The food is decent but for a $300+ dinner, i expect a little bit more than that. read more

This is a Gloria Estefan property. We started our evening at the outdoor patio bar on the ocean. Great setting, hate the plastic glasses, but understand + it was a real mojito. The restaurant has what is termed blue wave lighting so I apologize for the quality of the pics. I just didn't know how to escape the blue hue. Service was outstanding! We had a larger party and special care was provided to all of us in attendance. I started with the gazpacho, which was just okay. The paella though was wonderful. This Cuban influenced version is a bit different than the traditional Spanish version with which I have far more experience. My guess was the biggest difference was in the saffron which I didn't pick up here. Visually, and you'll have to trust me here, a wonderful presentation. A great time was had by all. I had the beyond burger without the bun but with extra lettuce and it was delicious, the side of fries were hot and tasty. While staying at Costa d'Este boutique hotel, we had breakfast and dinner at The Wave Kitchen & Bar. It's an absolute must during your stay! Their seafood paella is hands down the best I've ever had... overflowing with fresh, flavorful seafood and perfectly seasoned rice. The portion for two could easily feed four, but trust me, you won't want to share! I had breakfast there all three mornings of our stay and every meal was delicious. From the make-your-own omelette and fluffy pancakes to the avocado toast topped with perfectly poached eggs. The fruit was always fresh, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my husband's request for strawberries and watermelon. For those who are gluten-free, The Wave Kitchen & Bar is fantastic. They offer gluten-free toast, breakfast potatoes, black bean hummus, guac and salsa, and for dessert, a divine flourless chocolate cake served with your choice of vanilla or espresso ice cream. Hello I had the pollo asado and it was dry no flavor. Also my wife had the shredded beef and was super salty. The cook wasn't good today. I go to my local Cuban restaurant and put this place to shame. The price is out of hand also just for simple plates. I would not recommend this place at all for dinner. I don't know how The Wave isn't rated higher! This place was wonderful! The outside tables are first come first serve and have a beautiful pool and ocean view. You can even get served at the pool chairs! There is a great menu with large portion sizes at a modest price for the view and location. Service was very friendly and attentive. We got the turkey wrap, chicken quesadilla, and a chicken bowl. All were excellent. I especially loved the amount of fresh, delicious guacamole served with the quesadilla. While our waitress was friendly and doing her best, the drink service was extremely slow--she simply seemed to have too many tables to manage. We started with the octopus and grilled calamari appetizers, both of which were excellent and a highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the entrées were more disappointing. The paella lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked and dry. The Texas Pete hot sauce didn't help--it actually made things worse. The scallops were very tasty, but at $50, they felt overpriced for the amount served. Overall, there were a few bright spots, but the inconsistent food quality and slow service made for a mixed experience. read more

The ambience at poolside Wave Kitchen and Bar at Costa del Este is spectacular! Sitting at one of the high tables under an umbrella pool on one side beautiful Atlantic on the other side is breathtaking. The service is perfectly timed, friendly, and thoughtful. And the food is outstanding. The menu is fairly simple But has lots of favourites like fish tacos and grilled mahi-mahi, and, appropriately, the menu leans Cuban, with black bean soup and of course Cuban sandwich. We had a very nice evening with friends. Food was ok, service was ok, ambiance was ok. I was expecting a Latin feel and it just wasn't there. The Summer Corn Chowder was excellent, the Cuban Style Skirt Steak was ok and the Rice Pudding was ok. I know this sounds silly but I had among the best scrambled eggs I've ever been served (super fluffy and obviously grilled in butter). The banana pancakes were HUGE and tasted fantastic. After many trips to Vero Beach, we decided to try The Wave. First, the hotel is beautiful. There are lights on the trees when you walk in. They have a small parking lot and also valet parking which is complimentary for diners. Our waitress was great and very attentive. I felt like I had to try a mojito, it was really good and not too sweet. The best appetizer we had was the grilled octopus. It came with potatoes, peppers, olives, and chorizo. For dinner we got the paella for two and the scallop on it was amazing, the mussels and clams were just alright. I thought the rice was cooked perfectly. There was more than enough for two people. Decided to hop in here during a very hot day for drinks. After some confusion as to which menu we should be given, we ordered from the brunch menu. Brunch apparently runs until 3pm. We ordered a cucumber mule mocktail, The Pink Lily cocktail and some ceviche. They were all on point. The Ceviche is served with Plantains and yarrow root chips. Not bad. I think I would have preferred a different kind of chip but I would order it again. It was fresh and flavorful. Service was good. The hotel is nice and busy. The AC was great!! read more

The bean soup seems to be a very popular item. It was, in fact, delicious, but I wanted to tey the Paella. Lucky for me, it was, in fact, gluten-free. The Paella is huge, and it can fees up to 4 people. it was quite a lot of food for just two people, but we still ordered it. It was delicious and full of seafood and variety. I would highly recommend this particular dish. Dining at the restaurant is nice, this seems to be the nicest restaurant in this area of Vero Beach and it is located in the hotel Costa d'Este. First time at this restaurant when we were visiting the area. We weren't familiar with the history of the hotel and came her off of a friend recommendation. We tried to sit inside but they sat us at an extremely small table behind a pillar with little view. We then moved to an outdoor spot near the pool which served the same menu. We loved the view and the service. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Gris which was great- even out of plastic glasses. Beet & Burrata salad- mediocre. I was hoping for a variety of beets, but they were just the red ones and were a bit flavorless. The lettuce was extremely salty. The burrata was good. We then ordered the Snapper as the fresh fish of the day - blackened. It was served with green beans and a creme sauce. I thought it was good, a bit overdone and too much seasoning, not fishy. Key lime tart to go- good flavor, tiny. We will probably stay here next time so will try again. read more

The place is very nice, I like the view of the ocean not so much the view of the pool. It was a fairly slow night from what it seemed, device was fast. The food presentation is beautiful and looks delicious but unfortunately the taste was awful. The started with the Calamari (not pictured) with "cherry peppers" more like Jalapeño peppers and so much of them more peppers than calamari not to mention the breading wasn't holding it kept crumpling off so the plate was left with all the crunchy breading. I had the Roasted Pork (Lechon Asado) which was delicious. If you're trying to compare the beef taste to something else familiar I would say it's like Carnitas. The Paella A La Costa would have been perfect with all the different seafood and chicken plus chorizo the mix of flavors is great however it was way too salty it was inedible. The chef must of forgot they added salt and added another dose. And finally the classic Cuban dish Ropa Vieja (Shredded Beef). Such a disgrace to the traditional Cuban dish, it tasted like pure tomato paste...terrible. Would not recommend this place next time, and if we did maybe we'd try their brunch. read more

Late in writing this review. We went to Vero to avoid Hurricane Ian on the OTHER coast, but the weather got back on the Atlantic side as well. While most other restaurants closed, The Wave Kitchen & Bar was open for us. We were staying at the hotel, so it was quite convenient and out of the rain. They had a limited menu due to the storm but we were able to get nice food and drinks. I recommend the Ropa Vieja - lots of food and a nice representation of Cuban cuisine. read more

Went for an early Mother's Day dinner with the family. First time here and beautiful place, very nice decor and ambiance. Our server Jack was very attentive, drinks and food came out without delays. The food was good, a bit pricey but understandable since its part of a resort. We started out with drinks- extra dirty martini for me, a Sangria for mom, a Pinot Grigio for sis and a whisky and soda for the hubby. Drinks were perfect! Perfectly poured and garnished how they're supposed to come. For appetizers we had the plantain cups with ropa vieja, clams in garlic sauce, and octopus with chorizo. Being that I'm hispanic, I make and have had more tender ropa vieja and the plantains needed a bit more flavor, but they were not bad considering the area we were in. The clams were good, definitely better baked as a clams casino, and the octopus and chorizo were very good. For the entrees we had the Costa paella which was very good, and savory, full of flavor. The Cesar Salad with Skirt steak that was a full 6-8oz and tender and flavorful. I had the beet and burrata salad with blackened shrimp. Salad was delicious! The burrata could've been a bit softer but it did its job. No dessert because we were full. Portions were adequate. read more

I couldn't taste my bland food because it is obnoxiously loud. We've stayed at the hotel several times. During this stay we weren't allowed to book a reservation for a table of 8. The $25 charge to hold a cake-that we provided-could've been waived. Final bill for a party of 8 totaled $700. Fish and shredded pork were less than mediocre. Description of entree wasn't very accurate. One guest left early because their meal made them ill. Half star goes towards the steak ($54) cooked to perfection, but I didn't have a side. Charged for substituting steak side dish for (over rated, overpriced) side salad. Other half star goes towards the manager, hostess and waitress. They tried to be accommodating and attentive. At the least, I highly recommend they revise their restaurant policies and work on the acoustics. read more

We live in Vero and have been going to the hotel and The Wave bar and restaurant for years. We got married on the beach, stayed in the hotel, and had our celebratory dinner at the restaurant. So we're quite familiar with the service and the food. The food prep is hit and miss and the quality has been declining each time we go. Service is good, but their management is unable to have a conversation with their customers about virtually anything. They tend to shy away from any discussion about what's not right with their food or the hotel. I believe that's the way they are trained. If you're looking for undercooked cold eggs and other unappetizing food, give this place a try. Unfortunately they have lost our business. read more

We ordered the Prisoner Unshackled wine and got charged for the more expensive Prisoner wine. They messed up a bacon cheeseburger medium rare three times by serving 1 beyond burger 2 fish sandwich 3 well done bacon no cheese That's the only complaint. Cuban was good. The family liked the fries. The calamari used corn meal based breading which was different. Drinks were great and a wonderful Dj/ musician. I would go there for drinks any time. I would give it a 4 for the ambiance, my son would give it negative stars for the inexcusable burger snafu - which by the way, they didn't offer to take off or apologize for. The Wave is one of the best restaurants in the area. We were looking for somewhere special to enjoy our 20th wedding anniversary celebration dinner together. I nervously picked The Wave after reviewing their menu and reviews here on Yelp. The location is divine with picturesque views overlooking the pool and the ocean dunes. The staff attended to us like we were royalty. We ordered the paella and scampi to share. This was so much food for us and we both have hearty appetites. The Wave is one of the best restaurants we've ever enjoyed in the area and we are definitely coming back!!! read more
