Crème brûlée

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this place. The vibe inside was very nice and unique. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful as well. The food was great and we enjoyed all the dishes we got. It took awhile for the food to come out but it was busy and we enjoyed the time to socialize. The food was decently priced as well and we very much enjoyed our time here, would definitely recommend

Pork with honey and hazelnut sauce

OMG. I will definitely visit this restaurant again when I visit Nice. I had the Filet with mustard sauce and my son had the pork with honey and hazelnut sauce. They were both outstanding.

If there's one phrase to describe this place, it would be "heavy handed". Only had the warm goat cheese salad and the froie gras. The cheese and toast were pretty decent but those are the two easiest ingredients in the salad. The remainder of the salad was just clumsy. Somebody dumped way too many tablespoons of honey on top of the salad. By the time I was finished, my dish was still entirely coated by honey. Little pops of honey flavor would have been nice. Greens coated in honey is not so much. The walnuts that came with the salad were probably stale too. The walnuts were chewy and had zero crunch. The froie gras would have been nice if it wasn't soaking in sauce. As you can see by my picture there just tons of it everywhere. It's too bad because the ingredients are all good quality. Unfortunately the chef only knows how too apply too much of it on a plate. The service was slow. Very very slow. They even say on the menu that it's good food done slow. I didn't realize that pouring water or fetching wine would be an equally slow process. For two dishes it took nearly two hours from the sitting to paying. On every menu they also remind you to not take their napkin rings. Seriously. People probably took them because they looked so cheap and cheesy. It's a plastic orchid hot glued on some slightly heavy paper stock. Maybe if they invested in quality napkin rings, people wouldn't think that this was just throw away stuff to begin with.

This was a true authentic French experience. The food was magnificent. We all ordered off the fixed price menu and were very pleased with our food as well as the wine and service. I had the melted cheese brushetta, meat stuffed vegetables and chocolate pear dessert. My girlfriends had the coque au vin (chicken and vegetables in wine sauce).

We searched for this restaurant because we had a very nice meal here 2 years ago. I'm not sure it is the same restaurant but we had a wonderful meal here. We ate outside on beautiful blue tiled tables with real flowers used as napkin rings. Very classy touch. We got their formule for 23.50 Euros. There was a choice of 2 starters and we both got the melanzana. It was outstanding. The eggplant was lightly breaded and fried and the tomato sauce was delicious. Hubby got the Coq au Vin and he couldn't stop saying how tasty it was. I got the pork and beef stuffed vegetables--a speciality of Nice. It was kind of like a meatball stuffed in zucchini, pepper and tomato. Really good. The veggie side dish was generous and also super yummy. I got a coffee and hubby got the crème brûlée but we were really too stuffed to enjoy them.

The service was excellent! The glasses of wine were poured generously. The food was delicious and the portions filling -- the formula is a great value. It is located in a cute spot where you can sit outside and people watch in comfy chairs with pads. We watched patrons of other restaurants leave frustrated while this place filled up with jovial faces. I highly recommend this place. While the food was generally delicious, it didn't distinguish itself to 5 stars in my book, the pasta specifically.

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

Maybe not fair for them, but on our previous night, the previous chicken dinner was 5 stars for her. I got the beef stew over gnocchi. Not bad, but even for a light eater, it was NOT enough food for me?!?! Got a glass of Bordeaux which was good, until I noticed the locals got twice as generous of a pour?!? The second time I noticed this while dining out... Happy for them, but to see the inconsistency affects me... Ambiance - Small local business/restaurant. Prime tourist location/area. Plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. One unisex toilet. Service - Welcoming. Made online reservations, but because we are NOT tech savvy, it booked the wrong time. So since we were in the area, we just walked by and asked them to change the time and had no problems. Price - 49 Euros, $57 USD. Expensive for what we got IMO. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success.

Also note there is no cell service or WiFi service in the restaurant. Nice ambiance in the restaurant and away from the hustle and bustle of Nice. We ordered the squid, Foie Gras and Filet Mignon. All 3 were very good though I am not a fan of the Fois Gras but it came with a nice salad and bread. The squid was seasoned well and cut thin and flash fried. The filet was sliced and cooked perfect The potatoes were great and also nice salad came with it. Service was ok. Prices Moderate.

I was sooo looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately, I was left with cheese on my face (sorry no eggs here, only cheese, cheese, and more cheese). We arrived a bit early for our reservation (15-20 minutes), but we were seated immediately, which was nice; the table was stuffed into a corner, but at least we were seated. Unfortunately, that was about where the niceness ended. The restaurant is supposed to be housed in a former cheese cave, which I thought would be exciting and romantic, instead it was just hot and cramped. This is one of those restaurants that tries to accommodate as many diners as possible, so we were basically eating right on top of another couple (who were incredibly displeased, even stating, "this service is abysmal"). We could literally hear every word spoken up to two tables away, so don't expect to have any privacy, except from the servers that is. Service was unpleasant and extremely minimal. Our server took our food and drink order, delivered our drinks, another server apologized for the delay in receiving our meal, and our original server delivered our meal...and that was it. They didn't refill our water bottle, ask if I wanted another glass of wine, stop by to see if we liked our meal -or needed else (which we did), or even bring a check. After waiting too long for our check, table full of finished plates and empty cups, we eventually just got up and headed upstairs. Apparently you're supposed to head upstairs to pay, but we'd have never known since our server was doing they're best David Copperfield impression. Now for the food. The kitchen was tiny tiny, so it's no wonder the menu consists of cheese for the starter, cheese for the entree, and cheese for dessert. Sprinkled in-between the assortment of cheeses was a steak masquerading on the menu as "Aubrac Bib", whatever that means, and the Tartiflette, think pork belly scalloped potatoes and the only thing you should order here. The Tartiflette was microwave-lunch small, but it was hot, rich, and pretty meaty for the size. I got the Camembert (takes 30 minutes) and it was pretty awful as a meal. It's not even really a dish. They literally opened up the wooden wheel of cheese, peeled back the paper, sprinkled a few things on top, then baked for 30 minutes, so it was more of just a cheese dish. It arrived-paper still covering the top, and was served with some under-seasoned fingerling potatoes and a salad. The salad was good and potatoes were okay, but the cheese was so one-note, it needed meat or veggies to dip in it. Unfortunately, I only had the few potatoes and two small bits of baguette to dunk, so my only option was to eat it like soup, which I did not-so half remained wasted and uneaten. We would have liked to have eaten dessert, but after the poor meal, and lack of even offering dessert, "How could we?". I'm giving 2 stars for the Tartiflette because it was delicious. I would not return and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.
