Recently I acquired a used Honda Element and took it to Chi for an inspection, based on the shop's great reviews and the fact that they focus on Asian cars. Chi gave it a head-to-toe examination and made a prioritized list of recommendations, including costs. I agreed on the ones needed to have the car pass inspection, and Chi did a great job with those. He accommodated my schedule and there was no wasted time. He started the job at the appointed time and got it done promptly. There were no unpleasant surprises. He stuck to his estimates and did excellent work. I will be taking the car back to get the other work done soon and for all future maintenance. Chi runs a clean well-appointed shop. He's honest, up-front and personable. His prices are fair and I was impressed by how efficiently he rounded up the parts for my oddball car and the care he took to explain the repairs. I also checked out his stock of tires and he has a really smart selection at very competitive prices so I'll be buying my next set there. UPDATE: When I was ready for new tires I researched online trying to find a set with rugged sidewalls. The few models I found were not available locally or not available in the size I needed. While trying to decide between compromising what I wanted or paying extra to have tires shipped, I got an email from Chi with a recommendation that was even better than my original choices--at a great price. Came in last month for an oil change and Chi noticed that there was a huge bubble on one of my tires. (Thanks, winter potholes.) So glad he saw this, otherwise I may still be driving with a potential hazard just waiting to explode. I had the tire replaced, as well as the ABS sensor since the light has been going off lately. I had my car serviced at Chi's for the first time a few weeks ago and wanted to give it some time before submitting a review. My car had been giving me problems for the past 2 years, mainly due to a shoddy alternator and battery. After having it replaced TWICE elsewhere, the problem persisted and it wouldn't take long before reverting back to a dying heap of metal that needed a jump start much too often. I was able to put up with it for awhile but when my car finally died mid-drive, I had to do something about it. A quick search on Yelp led me to Chi's. Local with loads of positive reviews. I'm usually very skeptical but they definitely lived up to the reputation. I left my car with them and within the next 30 minutes, I received a phone call with an accurate diagnosis. They told me ONLY what I needed serviced and didn't try to push any other services on me. I really appreciated that. And as a bonus, the price turned out to be cheaper than what I was expecting to pay. I have been going to Chi any time I needed work done to my car and I have never been disappointed. I trust him with my Mercedes C300 and I rather take it to him than a Mercedes' own maintenance shop. He does a great job, doesn't do a half a$$ job, the price has always been below value, and he gives an honest assessment. So far Yelp hasn't let me down when it comes to recommending awesome automobile-related services (Floyd's, Spring St. Car Wash, etc) and I think I found my car guy in Philly. I live in NJ, and I drive a car which unfortunately has a rotary engine, which means changing my own oil without a garage is a little messy and unpractical. Back when I was in GA, my car dealership offered me discounted oil changes done in under thirty minutes, so I had no reason to stay away from dealerships; hoping to replicate similar results in NJ/PA, I called up three different Mazda dealerships in the area and they all overquoted me (Dealership Lady #1-3: Your car has a different engine, so we need to charge you more) with scarce availability. Then I gave Chi a call, and the fact that I had an RX-8 didn't phase Chi at all, because apparently his brother had one too and he had the oil change part down to an art form. Great thirty minute service for 30 dollars. (+10 if you want the high mileage oil) Can't beat that. read more

I've come in a few times for all sorts of repairs/services on my 2007 Toyota Camry. It's a bit of a drive from where I live -- and now a bit farther now that they've relocated, but I will continue to make the drive out to this shop. I once made the mistake of getting an oil change closer to where I live due to laziness, and that shop charged me $80 frickin' dollars for a synthetic oil change using cheap oil, whereas Chi's shop quoted $60 for synthetic. Maintenance: I've had my battery replaced, oil changed, transmission fluid changed, brake pads replaced, back rotors replaced, air filter changed... lots of maintenance because I got this car with 60k+ miles on it with minimal maintenance done before acquiring it. I'm also pretty sure they tightened my e-brake (although it wasn't billed) without me asking for it so that was nice. I use my e-brake a lot and after picking up my car from the shop, I noticed my e-brake was noticeably "tighter", or resisted much more than usual. Didn't even realize e-brakes can get loose! The only major thing I didn't get serviced at this shop was an alignment, and that's because they don't offer that service at this shop. Pricing: The price is fair and in the median. You're not going to get the cheapest deal, but it's far from the most expensive deal, either. I'd say the prices are in the median of what you'd be quoted from most mechanics. Service: The shop is pretty laid back. Chi let me know that my Toyota Camry's engine has a history of burning oil way too quickly, and that I should get in touch with my dealership to get it replaced because it's a common problem amongst these Camrys. I couldn't get it replaced, but it's good to know why my oil light flicks on before I even hit 3000 miles since I drive roughly 70 miles a day for work. He may recommend additional maintenance/servicing or not, and I am at the point now where I feel like they are not just trying to up-sell anything if he does. I'm a big stickler for customer service, but I'm still really nice. I'm that girl that will still tip a server 20% on a bill even if they sucked. Chi acts neither like a salesman or a customer service rep, so it's not like you're going to get swept off your feet, and that's not a bad thing. I never felt the need to ask "Why is this price so high?" so I cannot comment on how that part of customer service is -- as it's important to me that an auto repair shop can answer those questions without attitudes or condescending remarks--, but I never felt like I wasn't treated fairly. Saturday hours are great for someone who has zero flexibility during the week, like me! read more

I was heading down to Philly from NYC for Thanksgiving,50 miles in, my car started to stuttered! Crap! 50 more miles to go! Andy was extremely communicative and even opened the shop up a little early to ensure I could make it to work in time at drop off and pickup of my vehicle. They even had a loner cars which is beyond helpful and adds a level of convenience un matched by my dealership. On service- I expressed my concerns to Chi as we took a quick drive around to listen to some sounds and discuss my concerns. You better watch yourself with this guy. I came in w a 2016 Nissan Versa 2/2018. The car all but passed, his guy was scraping the old sticker off, when he found a pinhole in a bushing where steering arms connect. Pencil point size. He wanted $800. Well he said u have to do both sides and align it. There was nobody else there and they were looking at me real hungry like. I paid him 80 for the failed inspection and got outta there. Took it to Calhoun's auto a friend recommended. He said he shouldn't have failed me for that, he replaced it for 150. Just took it back to Calhoun's for inspection this year, passed. Charged 75. If you know nothing about cars and u bring it to someone like CHI Auto, they will rob u. $800 is a lotta money to me. They got you because you need that sticker. read more

been coming to chi since i had my first car and he has been nothing but helpful and most of all, genuine with his advice. i never have to worry about getting sub par service with over-inflated prices. chi will tell you what needs immediate attention, what can wait a bit, (and how long), and what is optional but would be an improvement. it's nice to know when it comes to auto maintenance, that you can still have some autonomy. furthermore, he'll make sure to send your car off with the utmost care, even down to the little details. now that he has his own store, he can give you even more personalized service, while still saving you money compared to your average auto shop. i have since moved to nyc and i still insist on bringing my car back to be serviced, so if that's not a testimony to awesome service, idk what is! read more

He came off nice and it wasn't until I went to another mechanic he helped me see that he was charging me for something he told me he doesn't do in his shop becuz they don't have the space for it.
