It's a no for me! The food was nasty, pizza was undercooked, and we found rubber bands in our pizza. We proceeded to tell the server who did not seem to care much. She did comp the pizza despite her lack of concern. Mind you I am a server and have been for a long time, I understand it's not her fault but she could have handled it way better. This is our favorite go to restaurant. They have the best antipasto salad and I swear the pastas are made fresh everyday. They are fantastic ! Our kids love their kid menus. Some of the servers there have been there for 15-20 years and are great at what they do. The front has a wide window where you can see the inside kitchen and the pizza makers making their pizza right here and there. It's a Great with the family or for a date night . Warning : you can not make reservations so there are times when the wait time to be seated is 30- 45 minutes but that's pretty standard in this town. We have been eating at this restaurant for over 25 years. In the past few months the food quality has continued to go down. This past Friday night, my husband placed a phone order for a medium 3-topping pizza and a large dinner salad. The noise in the restaurant was so loud, the order taker (Brianna) had to keep asking for clarification on the order. (try better headsets!) I picked up the order on the way home from work. The order ended up being completely wrong. They gave us a Large pizza, even though we ordered a medium (charged for a Large, of course) and the toppings were all wrong. I could not clarify as I had not placed the order. The pizza only had cheese on half the pizza - we ordered extra cheese on the whole pizza. There were very few pepperonis on the pizza as well. ($45 worth of food!) Lately when we eat at the restaurant, the quality of the pizzas is varied. You never know what you are going to get. We even asked one of the servers why the pizza quality has gone down and he told us that all the trained pizza chefs had left and no one trained the new ones. This used to be our go to pizza / Italian restaurant in Santa Clarita. Now we are looking for a new one. so disappointing... Definately not the place to go for Italian food or pizza. I've tried them a handful of times, trying different things. My last experience I got a pizza. It wasn't "bad" exactly. Pizza is much like sex, even if it's bad it's still usually kinda good. However I think I would have been happier ordering dominos. The cheese was just this viscous mess and it didn't taste quite right. Both my girlfriend and I felt ill after eating it. To top it off, our waitress was completely neglegent to our table. It took a good 10 minutes just to get our drinks (how it can be so hard it is to get a coke and a beer is beyond me), but she was all over the other two tables in our area. We aren't jerks or scummy people, so I don't see what her problem was. She didn't even look at us when she finally gave us our drinks. She was still in the midst of talking to the table next to us. On a previous visit I ordered the chicken fetucchini alfredo. The chicken was charred. Literally all I could taste was ash. The sauce had no flavor. I can make better myself at home. My first memories of Chi Chi's pizza is from my annual elementary school fundraiser. In each grade, the student who raised the most money was given a limo ride to Chi Chi's for lunch. I was a fan then, and more than 10 years later, I'm still a fan. Its one of my favorite places to get some pizza. They put some of the "toppings" under the cheese to keep it from drying out. That added with a great thin crust makes me keep comin' back after all these years. If you really got an appetite, they do an unlimited pasta. Its nothing to write home about but it'll suffice if you're really hungry. Not only do they do Italian food well, they also have a great fried chicken and potatoes. Its always crispy and juicy. I want to be careful what I write here because a lot of people love Chi Chi's and go there often. Pizza is pretty subjective, but I love most pizza. I will go out of my way to find a great pizza place, and when I am in Chicago or New York, I am on a mission from God to try their best pizzas-- and I have. So if you love Chi Chi's, continue to go there. The manager and the server were pleasant and helpful as could be. But for me, this was the worst pizza I ever had in my life (a close second to tuna pizza in Israel, and some other kind in Ethiopia.) It took 40 minutes at 3PM on a Saturday.. a little long. The place was busy with lots of VERY LOUD FAMILIES... screaming(literally) children and parents who I guess thought it was cute and appropriate. Bus boys who LOUDLY dropped HEAVY china plates onto the marble tabletops-- it actually made me jump once or twice it was so loud. Incredibly annoying. (And I've been in war zones.) When the pizza did arrive, it looked as if someone had poured a bucket of melted cheese all over it. Huge globs of melted cheese completely covering the pizza. You could barely tell what was hiding beneath. I had to get out my knife (almost took out my sharp pocket knife) to cut through it as it hadn't been thoroughly cut. I couldn't figure out quite what was going on here. The thin crust was fairly thin, but not at all crisp as I expected. It was wet, limp, gooey, rubbery, not fully cooked and made worse by the liquidy/greasy cheese smothering everything. I carefully picked up one slice and at that moment 100% of the toppings and cheese slid completely off leaving me holding a naked, wet, gooey piece of a partially cooked pizza triangle, with a little trace of pinkish tomato sauce indicating it had once been present. This was not pleasant. So I tried another slice-- "Hawaiian" (OK, so I'm not 100% traditional.) Using the spatula and my fork I was slowly and carefully able to get most of it off the pan and onto my plate. But I had to eat it with a knife and fork-- there was absolutely no way to hold it-- and everything was sliding off anyway. It was a disaster. Very frustrating to eat, a terrible mess, the crust was awful. Yuck. I ate about half only because I was starving. The rest was all in piles and greasy globs all over the pan and plates. What I did taste was good. The cheese globs were tasty and when I combined with a piece of Canadian bacon and found a piece of pineapple to add in, it was good. Not exactly "pizza", but some of the unassembled ingredients. My server apologized profusely and took half off the price. I met with the manager and he too was very kind and apologetic, but said that this IS how they make pizzas there... all that cheese on top which their customers love. He was surprised about the gummy thin crust and offered to make me a special one however I like-- crispy, less cheese, whatever-- next time I came in... to please ask for him. He was sincere and I appreciated that. But I can't see myself going in there again. Slow service, super-loud rude kids and parents sitting silently by, the busboys throwing the heavy plates onto the heavy rock tables...it almost seemed it was a "How Loud Can We MAKE This Place?" contest going on and there must have been hidden cameras filming it. Add on to the the main reason for coming: inedible pizza served as a gooey mess on a rubbery, partially cooked crust that when you pick it up everything slides off... just not my kind of pizza place at all. Everything is salty and everything has tomato sauce. Let's take their pizza for instance. The crust is bland and their toppings doesn't get any better. Their lasagna... if you can even call it that is a round casserole that is guaranteed bloated via the their famous over-cooking method. Previously, I've only had cold leftover pizza from Chi Chi's when visiting my boyfriend up in Valencia. I absolutely LOOOVED it! Today, I finally got to try it fresh and hot, and along with the service, it was quite the lackluster experience. The pizza wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amazing. Since we got pepperoni, sausage, peppers, AND onions as toppings, the THIN crust couldn't handle it all. I felt like I was eating cheesy pepperoni/sausage/onions/peppers--NOT pizza. I'm a bread lover (love the sourdough rolls they start you off with) so the crust is pretty important to me. I would suggest a maximum of 2 toppings (def. get the pepperoni!) We also got the caesar salad to share, and it was huge! The perfect amount for 3 people to share as a side salad with the pizza. Next time I'd ask for the dressing on the side, though. It was pretty heavy. The one thing that really made the experience suck (I was tempted to give a 2) was how dirty the plates were. It's definitely a busy place on a Friday night, so I can understand how the waitstaff might not double check, but one of the bread/butter/pizza plates still had crumbs and butter on it from someone else, and another had a used butter wrapper on it. A better pizza can be had at Cavi at the Big Oaks, but that's a good seven miles past the city's northern boundary. Great crust, high-quality cheese, excellent toppings and sauce - cooked in a real pizza oven. They have nothing to hide, their pizza operation is open for the world to see. Extra points for the sourdough rolls and their very bright antipasto salads. I put off trying this place for a good fifteen years. "Best AntiPasta Salad" Another Classic Santa Clarita Location. I remember when I was growing up in a restuarant out here we used to "trade" sweet and sour pork for pizza. I remember the location on Soledad Cyn when it used to be a dark, gloomy place, with tall burgundy highback chairs, it was kinda gangster looking. If you are going to eat there you have to order a pizza and the antipasta salad with Extra Italian dressing. Make sure you get the original chi chi's italian dressing, not the premade stuff they tried to give me. When you are done with your salad, do not let the waitress take the salad bowl away! The dressing left at the bottom of the bowl makes a great dip for the pizza! It may sound disgusting, but I have made many of my friends addicted to this! My favorite place in town for pizza, everything is fresh and made right in front of you. A cozy and quaint little place in the background that has all your typical Italian foods but also has special gems such as their cioppino, antipasto salad, cold cut sandwiches (so worth the extra $1/$2 then your average fast food burger) and baked chicken and potatoes. The staff is friendly and assertive and always keeps the sourdough rolls coming. The food won't blow you away but its definitely got the rustic, homey food feel. read more

The food is actually good. My tendency to overindulge...not so good. In moderation I recommend: 1) The antipasto salad - very flavorful and generous with the cheese and pepperoni. Expect a pepperoncini the size of your index finger on the plate. Mozzerrella cheese adorns the salad ala play-doh spaghetti. 2) The pizza is *very* tasty, with lots of whole milk cheese and generous toppings. 3) Root beer goes best with this. I left here a little disappointed. I am in search of a traditional margarita pizza and the waiter suggested their sweet Basil pizza. It failed. It had too much shredded mozzarella and very little basil. We did enjoy the garlic cheese bread dippers. Their marinara sauce is very good. I would go back just for that. Went here for the first time with my girlfriend and her friend. Her friend likes it a lot however I found it not very good. The service didn't even exist. It took forever for our waitress to come by and even longer for our food to come out. I got the chicken ravioli. The sauce was really watery, and the chicken was very dry. The meal overall was very bland. Besides the food not being great and the poor service I found the food to be way over priced. My girlfriend got the all you can eat pasta and asked for some meet balls. They charge you 2.25 per a meatball. We didn't realize that and were very surprised when we got the bill. read more

Chi Chi's is a family staple/favorite. I used to struggle against the rest of the family and vote for Vincenzo's as the best pizza in the SCV and while it is probably still my favorite, I can recognize the quality. My family has probably been going here for 20 years or so, single handedly keeping it in business. The pizza is great and if you're a kid, the show is fun too. Chi Chi's kitchen is in the front of the restaurant with big windows so you can watch the chef's pull the pizza dough, toss it in the air and assemble the pizzas. I remember my dad holding me up to see it happen and now I do that with my young niece and nephew. They have the perfect cheese to sauce ratio, great, fresh toppings and a solid crust do to the pizza oven. Not in the mood for world class pizza, try the pasta. All of the pasta is fresh, homemade egg pasta and it is DAMN good. I really have never had better pasta. The women in the family always seem to order pasta while the guys get a couple pizzas but I can't help but to steal bites of pasta from the ladies. Don't want Italian period, try the Fried Chicken. They make a seriously good fried chicken. I believe they do it in a convection oven or something but its perfectly crisp and DELICIOUS! We've eaten here a few times with my family and the staff has always been very kind to us. Food is always good and my dad is a huge fan of their pizzas. I personally really enjoy the salads, meatballs, and mussels. And the sour dough rolls are always a favorite. My husband and I ate here recently and Ramon took very good care of us. I have been eating at ChiChi's for over 25 years & my kids have grown up eating here. We moved almost 3 years ago & this is always one of our stops when passing through. Our kids love Bo(best server ever)! Unfortunately, when we stopped here for lunch a few weeks ago, I went to the restroom & I spotted a cockroach coming out of the ceiling. I informed the manager who acted completely unsurprised & uninterested. He's been working there for years & this has always been his attitude in my opinion. I do not know what has happen to this restaurant, i have lived here 50 years and have always enjoyed their food. Lately having to get take out it has been a nightmare. Missing items, not the same quality, and more expensive. I order the golden wings and fries and a big salad. The wings were not cooked all the way,cold and had very little breading on them. I have been here countless times since my original review, and would feel wrong rating them anything other than a 5. Their spaghetti is still the best around, and I have since expanded my ordering to include salad and a heavier dose of pizza. Their caesar salad, like their spaghetti, tops the charts for me. If I could only eat caeser salad from one place for the rest of my life, it would be here. Their pizza, although not quite as perfect as their caeser salad and spaghetti, is also extremely delicious. Even their gluten free pizza tastes better than most places' regular pizza. Really any and every thing I have tried here has been top notch. Service wise, there are one or two servers here that need a personality reboot, but for the most part, everyone is great. For as much as we come in, we are bound to run into a cranky server here and there, but I would say that is the exception and not the rule. If it is your first time, there is a strong chance you will receive top notch service, and an absolute guarantee you will receive top notch food. Growing up in Santa Clarita, chances are you have been to Chi Chi's numerous times because it is just so awesome! Chi Chi's is a small chain with a loyal following of local customers that frequent the place as often as they can justify! It's a pretty big restaurant with numerous booths and tables for the larger parties. It's pretty dimly lit as well, which can make this a nice place for a romantic dinner if that's what you're looking for. I'm more of a pasta girl and I have yet to have any pasta less than delicious here. The boy loves this place for pizza so I've tried some of that too and enjoyed it. I love their sourdough rolls they give you as you wait for your food. If you get a cool waiter, they'll give you another basket with your food to dip it into your yummy pasta sauce! I have recently moved back in town (albeit a tad begrudgingly coming from the fun Bay Area up north) and Chi Chi's is the silver lining in it all read more

I had seen this place so many times while driving to the mall. I finally went in when our realtor recommended it. the pizza was just so delicious!
