A friend gave me a gift card to Chi spa. When I checked the business on yelp they recommended FRANK. I made my appointment and the receptionist booked my session with Frank even though he was not scheduled. I got there on time and the receptionist was running a little behind but she was pleasant and Frank was already there and greeted me. The place is tidy and decent. Even though I've been to nicer place the staffs were by far some of the best I've encountered. I often get massage quarterly for the past 4 years domestically or internationally and I had the best massage ever with Frank. I highly recommend him. I had a WONDERFUL experience at Chi Spa! I bought a Groupon for a 60-min couples massage with Kenny and Teresa. I felt welcomed when I entered the building. The lounge area was clean, as well as the couples massage room. Kenny was attentive and very intuitive to where certain areas needed more focus, without any direction from me. I liked that a few times throughout my massage, he asked if I was okay. I felt comfortable enough to make requests and give direction during my massage. It was my boyfriend's first massage and he said he liked his time with Teresa. The aromatherapy was pleasant and not too over-whelming. Same for the music playing in the background. The bathroom was clean, and after the massage, I was offered refreshments again. I did not feel rushed to leave, which is great after such a relaxing session. Great experience! My husband and I went for a couples massage. I had mark. He is awesome. He asked me how I prefer my massages (little vs a lot of pressure) and was very attentive. I told him what areas were hurting and he spent time on them. The feel was nice. Dark room. Relaxing. Wonderful essential oils smell. I selected lavender. It was great. I give this place a solid C. I came in and asked for a massage the same day. They said they'll call me to confirm if I'm an hour would work.. they didn't. I called and didn't get anyone.. so I just circled back in person. They did get me in and the guy was .. just ok. He was very nice but the technique in general was just ok. The whole thing was on the right track but never really got to the right amount of pressure or just the right spot. The cup technique was cool. Small but beautiful inside with super nice people. Everything was really nice appointed, we were greeted promptly and offered water or hot tea. Hubby and I each got mini chi treatments through Groupon so they put us in their couples room. Hubby had his massage as deep tissue and said it was the best massage (Theresa) that he ever had! High praise indeed!!! The mini chi is a 2 hour treatment including an hour massage and a salt scrub. Each of the massage rooms has a private shower. So we started with a massage and then got salt scrubbed. We each had showers and then got rubbed down with lotion. Now had I been there before, or had I even thought about it, I would have brought my own body wash (sls free) and lotion. I was impressed that the bathroom had an SLS free soap option. And it smelled lovely (coconut). But the shampoo and body wash in the shower I was told had SLS and the lotion for the last portion of the treatment was not something I would generally allow to be used on my skin. But that doesn't count against Chi as I would have happily brought my own stuff had I known. Why 3 stars? I had some issues with my massage therapist I would rather have avoided. I don't think people "getting over something" should be doing personal services like massage. Sick, nasal, and pausing to blow your nose is something that I should have been apprised of at the outset so I could then determine for myself whether to proceed. To have someone trying to cover their sniffles when I'm nekkid on the table mid massage is very awkward much less to inquire and learn my therapist is recovering from a flu. I mentioned via phone when arranging the appointment that I was pregnant and very high risk. The person taking the appointment (also, super polite and super nice!) asked me a few questions and I filled out this information in their intake form as well. I was told the therapist I would have was certified in prenatal massage. I should have stopped the massage as soon as I heard my therapist sniffle. When I discovered she was sick, she asked if I would like to stop. If I had stopped, so would my husband :-( and he was having a terrific massage so I felt obliged. My therapist was not familiar with the physiology dealing with prenatal massage. I'm past 16 weeks, therefore, I'm not supposed to lay on my back because of fetal compression of the vena cava vein. She seemed to remember that only after I mentioned that after being asked to lay on my back. That is the sort of thing I expect a person certified in prenatal massage to know. Despite the fact that the therapist was nice, I would not have another massage with her and I was not a fan of the massage. read more

I was on vacation and wanted to treat myself to a massage. I found this Groupon and saw good reviews and WOW everyone was right! It was one of the best massages I have ever received and with great reasonable pricing! The person I spoke with over the phone was super sweet and everyone was so nice. I received a massage from Teena, and I am telling you, it was the most relaxing I have ever been, she massaged from head to toe and really focused on my back where I had some spasms. I literally fell asleep on the table and that has never happened. Before entering I spoke with the woman at the front desk in regards to recommendations of restaurants in the area, and when I exited she gave me all great recommendations! I set up an appointment for a couples massage over the phone a couple of days beforehand. Shannon, the receptionist, was very pleasant and ever so helpful. I flew in from Wisconsin on vacation and she was very willing to help with food recommendations as well as things to do. Her customer service is exceptional, thumbs up to her! However, one thing I didn't appreciate is how often she reminds you that you should tip based off of full price (I took advantage of the first time client discount.) I definitely understand why they make it a point to remind people of that but I don't think more than twice is necessary. They even have a chart at check out in case you forgot! My partner and I had Julie and Teena. They were both great and we would definitely go back to them if were ever back in the city. So I typically never write reviews but I can say this one one of the most interesting experiences that I have ever had while getting a massage. The front desk staff was very kind and welcoming. We were greeted, checked in and offered a beverage. It was only when I went in for my massage that I was a little disappointed. There was not any consistency from my massage therapist. What was done on one side of my body was not done on the other. It was slightly rough and sloppy when she was working on my back and it did not leave me feeling relaxed but somewhat anxious. Wet towels were thrown on my neck and shoulders I guess to relax me? I booked myself a regular massage. Part way through the massage my therapist had grabbed hot stones and started using them on me, which I had no idea until one was placed on my forearm and was extremely hot to the point the I yelled "ouch" and was completely shocked since I had no idea that these were going to be used. I don't care for hot stone massages so this was quite confusing and disappointing to me. At the end of the treatment I was then told by the therapist that they use hot stones on all of their guests whether they request it or not...and I thought this was extremely unprofessional. I never asked for it and did not want this service with the use of stones. My therapist has asked me to lay on my side to work on my neck and shoulders. At one point the massage just felt strange as my therapist was rubbing my neck so I opened my eyes and looked over my shoulder and my therapist had her phone on the massage table and was texting with her other hand while rubbing my neck!! This was so extremely disappointing and EXTREMELY unprofessional. I have never experienced something like this before and left not feeling relaxed at all. There were multiple things during this treatment that made me feel very uneasy and uncomfortable and I will not mention who my therapist was but I think that awareness needs to be brought to light about what was happening here. This was my first time here and I honestly do not think I will come back. I do not feel like my well being was cared for and I felt very uncomfortable through out the whole service. I hope that more awareness can be brought to who is working in this industry. It is a very vulnerable space for both clients and massage therapists and it is the therapist responsibility to be professional and make the client feel safe, comfortable and relaxed and I did not feel any of this. read more

My experience making the appointment was smooth. I submitted an online request, and received a call back within minutes. They were thorough, made the appts I needed, and gave me all the information needed. They did feel the need to tell me that they expected a tip on the full amount. When we arrived, the lobby was comfortable and relaxing. The massage was meh. I've had worse, and I've had better. It was distracting to hear every sound from the massage in the next room, from the street traffic, etc. When I was dressed and made my way out to the lobby, I had to ask for water. My boyfriend booked a couple's massage here for a nice day date--little did I know I was about to meet the second love of my life, my massage therapist, Linda. I've had a lot of massages, but none that have been a spiritual experience from the heavens above. Linda might as well be a doctor or a medicine woman, because she certainly has a knack for knowing what your body needs when it isn't feeling well. I've been basically sleeping on a rock, rather than like a rock, at my Airbnb. I was in so much discomfort and pain when I came to Linda, but she was practically a medical professional who took care of me and sent me away feeling like a new woman. She seemed to know my body better than I did! I was having some pain in my hips, and without even telling her, she started stretching me out through reflexology. The whole time, she had a mothering energy/nature and made sure I felt comfortable. I could tell she really wanted to take care of me and treated me the same way a doctor would (yet she was so fun and eccentric!). I've had a lot of boring, same-old-same-old massages, but Linda uniqueness and light shone through during our session. She's such an amazing, interesting and talented person! We had a nice chat later on after the massage. Linda has a god-given talent for healing, so if you truly are in pain and need to feel better, she's the lady to go to! I highly recommend booking a service with her! You won't regret it! Chi Spa has lovely employees and my boyfriend commented that his massage was also great, too. DO NOT!!!! get a facial from this establishment. My spa was closed due to Covid and I went here for a deep pore cleansing facial in which I have had numerous facials in the past. The woman said she was doing facials for 20 years, but as she worked on me I knew that was not the case. Now, deep pore facials can be uncomfortable and you may even have "pimple like" spots after due to extracting. When she was done, and I got home and looked at my face, it looked like I went 3 rounds with Mike Tyson--my left cheek was bruised so badly that it appeared I had 2.5 giant hickeys on my cheek. I had to wear a mask for 4 days before they started fading. I had called the owner obviously upset and demanded my money back in which she told me they did a "great job" however that was via text message. The owner did not even have the decency to speak with me directly. She offered me a credit for future services in which I obviously declined. Normally I do not like to write bad reviews, especially on small businesses, but I highly recommend staying away from this spa. Things happen in life and in business, but an owner should try to fix an issue, and this owner should be ashamed of herself for the way she treated me. FYI-the cost of the service was $60 so it telly you a bit about the stability of this place--STAY AWAY!!! read more

I called this morning and it went to voicemail ( I thought that is how the cookie crumbles) less than five minutes later I received a call back and they quickly accommodated me. Marc G was my masseuse and what a wonderful massage. He was very good at regulating the pressure and recognizing the trouble spots on a persons body but not digging into that area and hurting that area. My partner and I found this spa back in October, in our first attempt to receive massages. This was our first spa experience. We booked with Shannon, who was very quite lovely. Upon arrival, 15 minutes early to fill out paper work as requested, we noticed a gentleman, kind of pacing around. My partner and I had requested two male masseurs, but we only saw one. After a bit of time, Shannon informed us that she only confirmed one masseur, and forgot to confirm another. We waited around for a while for her to try and find another masseur, to no avail. She said she would continue to work on finding another masseur as we ran some errands. There was no success that day. Fast forward a few months and we are ready to try this spa again. This time we scheduled the same thing, couples massage, two male masseurs and the introductory rate. Shannon was so kind, again. Upon our arrival today, Shannon was at the desk and greeted us warmly. Both of our masseurs came and greeted us, although I don't remember them introducing themselves with their names, and escorted us to the couples room. There was a bit of investigation with regards to the type of massage we were looking for and then we began. I prefer a deeper pressure and my partner prefers lighter pressure, we should have switched therapists. My partner felt as if his was to strong and mine was light. I heard my partners masseur ask about the pressure, where mine did not. While the rubbing was quite nice, I should have spoke up and asked for firmer pressure. Moving forward I will be sure to speak up. At the end of the visit, I calculated the tip in my mind, 20% of $49, with rounding it would have been $10 for each therapist. Shannon, didn't have change in the register to split the $20 bill so we could present the gratuity to our therapist, which I found to be slightly disappointing. In addition to that, she kindly suggested the gratuity be based on the regular pricing of the massages, which is $75. Providing gratuity to that effect, is fine with me, as that thought didn't even cross my mind, and I work in the service industry as a makeup artist, so I completely understand. What I didn't particularly care for, was the suggestion of the amount of gratuity we should leave. I find that to be a bit crass. Overall, the experience was fine, neither great nor awful. Between the two visits, we were not wowed nor were we extremely disappointed. I understand that every business has 'ON' days and 'OFF' days, perhaps we were just in two 'OFF' days. read more
