I was very excited to get a chance to check out the Chi Spa, after I had purchased a livingsocial.com certificate. The certificate was $40 for an hour plus 15 minute "massage sampler" of different styles. I paid extra for deep tissue +$10, and extended time by 30 minutes +$20. I had tried for months to get in at a convenient time and they seemed very busy. It turned out to be a very uncomfortable and rather upsetting experience. I walked into the spa with my boyfriend and got some water out of the cooler. As we were standing in the front reception room a man walked in and was quite startled, I think that he was just eating something and we interrupted his dinner. He acted very nervous and offered the water in the paper cup, rather than the one I was using. I thought that it was odd and implied that I used the wrong cup. I told him that I was against using disposable products and really appreciated the option to use the nice ceramic cups. When he mentioned that we were early, he seemed very uncomfortable with the fact that I came early as instructed to fill out the form and drink tea and read before my massage. When I asked if I could make some tea, this too was received with confusion. At one point he said I should relax and I laughed. He asked if he said something to offend and I told him he was wound up tight and might do some relaxing himself. He offered a tour of the spa to my boyfriend and me. He mentioned that I should use the restroom and went into some detail about encouraging me to use the restroom so we didn't have problems later (again, weird). So far he had made me very uncomfortable several times and I was tempted to walk out before we got started. He said it was almost 6pm and I again mentioned that I really wanted to relax with my tea and book before the massage. He was very eager to start early. He tried to give instructions to my boyfriend about when to come pick me up and I told him that he would wait for me there. Again, this seemed to agitate/confuse him. Once in the room, he was not set up and had me wait while he replaced the burned out candles for new ones. After disrobing, he came back to report that my bf had driven away, and he had locked the front door. He massaged my back for probably an hour. Not focusing on any particular area and not giving any "deep tissue" massage. It really seemed like a massage from someone who had no formal training. He did also rub my legs and arms a few minutes. Laying on the massage table you feel so vulnerable and it's hard to speak up with you feel like everything is wrong. When he charged me, I mentioned that the massage was not deep tissue, he said I fell asleep and so I wouldn't know, which I did not. He argued with me until I paid and left. Leaving too much tip because I didn't have smaller bills and I just wanted to get the F*** out of there. Meanwhile, my bf had been sitting outside after this guy locked him out while he stood by the door smoking a cig, The car never moved. I just got off the phone with Kimberly, who was very nice, but tried to make excuses for the bad experience. She said, "He was ill and might not have recovered, it was the last appointment of the day, deep tissue isn't his specialty," ... umm, ya. Even with the LivingSocial, I paid $100. She said she would upgrade the massage to a 90 minute deep tissue, if I wanted to pay full price for another 60 minute. That does not sound like an apology or compensation for my experience. And I never did figure out what that massage sampler was about... read more

This is the sequel to my series of reviews "Massages In Florida". I LOVE it here. I found it on Google, I think, when I was searching for a cheap place near my hotel in Pompano Beach. My hotel was charging an arm and a leg, and after a nice tanning session I was unwilling to part with mine. This place charged $75 for an hour, sweeeet deal. After some additional website perusing, I noticed they offer Thai massage and my ultimate favorite, a mix between Swedish and Thai. They called it their signature Chi Massage and I wanted it. I wanted it bad. The first seven times I called, I got an answering machine. I left messages to no avail, and gave up. Days later, someone emailed me back apologizing, with a $20 gift certificate! Forgiven!! They actually went out of their way to accommodate me and schedule me a late 8pm appointment. I ended up getting there much, much earlier and hanging out in the front lobby area for 45 minutes. The woman at the front desk was very nice, offered me a beverage and let me sit on a comfy couch. I noticed that a lot of places in Florida kind of look like strip mall dollar stores compared to the ultra posh and modern metropolitan places I'm used to, but Chi Asian Spa tried to hide it with somewhat random but still beautiful asian decorative pieces. There were also nice modern showers in the massage room, which I didn't use but I don't see often. My masseuse was named Mike, he was a big black guy with a friendly vibe. I told him in the beginning that I was there to recover from my last massage (see, the prequel) and he laughed and said something along the lines of you can train anyone but you can't give em talent, which I completely agree with. Mike had the talent. He was so fast and efficient, he definitely knew what he was doing and I liked that. The massage was really relaxing, felt amazing, and he gave my poor weary joints a good stretch. I love it when they work under your shoulder blades and I LOVE a good head massage. They also incorporate some nice hot towels into the massage. Honestly, one of the better massages of my life and for that price? Really unbeatable. Also sent me on my way with a bottle of SmartWater [and they gave me a choice of cold or room temperature]. They really pay attention to details, and it pays off. Definitely check this place out. My husband and I came here for a couples massage and it was wonderful! We were greeted at the door and offered water and an assortment of herbal teas. The atmosphere was very quiet and relaxing. Teresa did such a wonderful job with my massage, it was probably one of the best massages I have ever had. The aromatherapy was a nice touch too. Our only complaint is my husband paid $10 for the deep tissue upgrade and didn't feel like it was "deep" enough. Other than that, I wish we lived here because we would probably be regulars at Chi Spa. read more

I went with my husband for a couples massage two days before our wedding. We were late and the owner called to find out if we were still coming. All I can say is they were very accommodating and it was the best massage I have ever had in my life. Wow. The Asian guy (sorry forgot his name) who work on me was amazing. He worked through every knot and used reflexology in addition to my deep tissue message. We live in MD but every time we go back to FL we will visit Chi Spa. read more

Was mislead to the incorrect location due to them apparently using old business cards. Wasted my vacation time and money driving around on a wild goose chase. They did not answer phones so that caused another issue trying to find them. They did not respond to customer feedback. I really hate it when people have a bad experience (either in a place like this, or a restaurant etc.) and don't tell the management then and there - and just go off and post negative reviews. It's essential to tell management then and there if something is wrong so they can correct it - it's only if they refuse to correct it that it's fair to write a negative review. If you don't tell them, how can they fix it? I had the best massage EVER there, the staff was wonderful and I was made to feel very comfortable (I think Alex was my masseuse). It was better than all the other massages I've had in Fort Lauderdale, and I have tried many places - here at Chi they tried their best to make it a wonderful, relaxing experience, and they succeeded. DO tell management (in any establishment) if a) you have a bad experience (so they can fix it then and there) or b) someone exceeded your expectations and is worthy of a positive comment (it's nice for them to feel appreciated and to know they made a difference) - both are very helpful to management. Don't necessarily tell the person you are having a bad experience with, you ask for the owner or manager and tell them the situation - don't just leave upset without telling someone. As they say in the restaurant biz, if you're not happy with your meal, tell US. If you're happy with your meal, tell everybody! Chi Spa - keep up the good work. read more

Don't judge a book by it's cover... The outside looks like a whole in the wall but when you walk inside it's a totally different story. I was created by a friendly receptionist who offered my grandmother and myself hot/cold beverages. I was then created by my massage therapist (I don't remember her name) who was really friendly. I was then lead to the back room of the spa. The massage room was really clean and there were lite candles. The massage therapist did a great job on my Swedish massage. She obviously read my paperwork and didn't apply too much pressure. I was really impressed because I went elsewhere about a month ago and had a horrible therapist who applied way too much pressure. My massage therapist made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I was highly impressed with my overall experience at Chi Spa. The only downside is that the spa doesn't have a sitting room to relax. Other than that, I will recommend Chi Spa and I will be back. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is the MOST unprofessional company that I have ever worked with. I first booked a 1-hour aromatherapy/swedish massage for a specific time. The massage therapist was a no-show, so I then waited on standby with the owner, Kimberly, who kept pushing my appointment back until 4 hours later at 8:00PM, I was given a massage. I then received no aromatherapy and a rushed massage that left me feeling even worse by HUGO. Then, i recieve a 30.00 dollar credit from KIMBERLY for my horrible experience (though I did not even ask for this because I AM NOT CHEAP), but I go to use the credit and she says I have to add TWO items to use the credit which was not disclosed properly in her email. I have never written a google review that was negative, but I am disgusted by this companies lack of care for their customers. I would never recommend someone to this business.Take your business to Majesty Day Spa and pay the same amount to be treated like a queen. I told them to take the 30 dollar credit and throw it in the trash rather than support their terrible business. I stand by my review "Kimberly" and have NEVER had issues with other companies. Not to mention a rushed massage that left me feeling worse after my dad passed away the day before. My boyfriend bought me a spa day on groupon and it included a 90 minute massage, exfoliating treatment and a body butter treatment. I have never done a package spa extravaganza and I am a fan. I left after 3 hours feeling so fresh and rejuvenated, my skin feeling so soft and like new. I had a 1 hour Chi Massage (Swedish massage with Thai stretching) with Frank yesterday and I left feeling amazingggg! Frank was kind and welcoming and made a point to chat with me about my yoga practice and areas I should concentrate on stretching out for a better practice. I purchased a Groupon for a hour massage at Chi. I quickly made my appointment. I was in need of a good massage. Upon arriving I felt very welcomed. The place smelled so fragrant that I immediately began to feel relaxed. Teena my therapist escorted me to the massage room which was fragrant and very clean. She was amazing and her pressure was right on point. She knew exactly where my stress points were and worked the areas. After reading some of the other ratings, I feel compelled to communicate my experience at Chi. I had two bad experiences - one should have been enough, shame on me. Using a Groupon for my first massage, I had to keep waking up my therapist as she kept falling asleep. I received a follow-up email seeking my feedback; I was quite honest about the less than positive experience. The owner called and offered another massage, so I gave Chi a second chance. I accepted an appointment after work on my way home with a male therapist. Everything was going well, I was greeted by the therapist and was escorted to the massage room. After undressing, I heard the receptionist announce that she was leaving and was going to lock us in. I should have just gotten up and left at that point like my instinct was telling me. For the next 45 minutes, all I could think about was how unprofessional it was to leave a female client alone with a male therapist when I was essentially new to the spa. In addition, the guy (can't remember his name) was creepy - I never felt relaxed and did not enjoy the second chance that I was given. After visiting Chi Spa I have mixed reviews. I found them on Groupon and thought it was a great deal for a couples massage. I did my research and saw that overall there was great reviews. As we entered the spa it was small and cozy with great decor. We paid an additional upgrade fee for a deep tissue massage.Which we both didnt feel it was. There was only two employees when we went which happend to be the therapist that would be massaging us. It was extremely disappointing when I began hearing one of the therapist speak in the waiting room which was right next to the room. When I looked up I noticed that the therapist that was working on my fiance had stepped out to open the door for another client. His massage was interrupted twice. Meanwhile while Im receiving mine all I can think about is that his massage better last longer then mine being that she left the room twice to assist other patrons. That wasnt the case as soon as my therapist finished so did his.... I didnt say anything at that point since we had already paid and tipped 18% and nothing was goung to be done since they already began preparing for their next clients. Another disappointing thing that occurred is that while massaging both of our backs they used a small plastic ball which you can purchase at any drug store and massaged us with it. (We could've just done that) found myself asking twice for more pressure and it went in deaf ears. Would i go there again? Most definitely not!!! read more

We did a bachelorette party group massage here and they were so accommodating! We came from out of town and made the appt about a week in advance. They were able to have 8 girls get massages in two groups of four and even rearranged the schedule a bit to make sure that could happen. Shannon at the front desk is such a sweetheart! I recommend Tina or Mark for a more firm massage and def request the deep tissue upgrade if you like a lot of pressure! Very relaxing and very nice staff! read more
