I recently was in the hunt of a new dentist since I had a horrible experience with my previous dentist and let me just say I found my new spot! At first they seem pretty attentive, apparently they dont charge you the deductible, but is not worth it, i took my family there and after six months everything is coming out, the crappy job they did and they exaggerate on cavities, if you have 2 they put 4 or 6 , we went to get second opinions and apparently it wasn't true, theres more bad things they did but they should be checked. Terrible experience at Chic Dental in San Jose. My mom went in for a simple root canal with Dr. Mirna, and they broke a piece of file in her tooth and sent her home. It's been three weeks and we are still desperately searching for an endodontist willing to fix their mistake and remove the broken file. The clinic's response? "Go find an endodontist to fix it, this happens all the time and we cannot do anything." They refuse to accept responsibility or provide any support for the problem they caused. I truly can't recommend this dental office enough. I've always had a hard time with dental visits because I have jaw issues and sometimes experience panic attacks, especially when I feel like I can't swallow and my breathing feels off. Most places don't really understand that, but this office went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable. The staff is incredibly patient, compassionate, and respectful. They never rushed me, never brushed off my concerns, and always took the time to explain what they were doing before every step. They checked in on me constantly and adjusted everything to make sure I was okay. That level of care is rare. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the difference. The front desk is welcoming, the assistants are kind, and the dentist is both skilled and genuinely caring. This dentist office is really just interested in billing your insurance. I was a patient for about 4 years (as were my extended family members) and during that time we all had extensive care/procedures done. When I moved my new dentist was reviewing my record and they were stunned at the amount of work done that was not accurately supported by proof of X-rays and symptoms. I am not even 30 years old and the fact that this dentist ruined my dental health due to her profit is sickening. I have always had good dental hygiene practices at home and don't eat a lot of sugar (same with my family) we could t believe that we trusted her. The last straw was when my brother and 4 nieces were each told they had 10+ cavities and needed all that work. When they went for 3 alternative consults, none of them had any cavities. NONE. I had a bad experience with Chic Dental Care. It all started when the dentist was initially cleaning my teeth for the first time. I mentioned to the dentist that I had a filling done recently, but that I'd forgotten to mention it to her earlier. The Dentist proceeded to blurt out, you mean that was the filling that just chipped! The comment alone was incredibly rude, and then I was worried through the rest of the cleaning procedure that the dentist had chipped my new, beautiful filling that I'd just had done on a cavity on my front tooth. Not only that, apparently the dentist chipped one of my fillings, and then decided that she wasn't going to mention it to me at all, at least not until I said something about having a filling. It seems to get worse from there. The dentist told me that I needed extension work done. So much so that my jaw needed to be numbed to the point that I wouldn't have been able to eat or talk for the rest of the night after I was numbed enough to have the procedure done. Well, first if all the dentist made me feel uncomfortable for needing to admit that I was still in pain after the first time that she'd attempted to numb me, After that I was very uncomfortable asking for her to continue numbing me because I continued to be in significant pain whenever the dentist would attempt to work on my teeth. Then dentist went on to cancel my procedure that day, so that I could go on a date and that's when she made it clear that I was somehow who would need such extensive numbing that I would have to be careful that I didn't schedule anything else for the rest of the day, following the extensive numbing for my dental treatment. I went home that night feeling as though the dentist would have preferred that I suffer in pain, rather than continue to numb me. After those initial 2 session, I had a lot going on in my life, to say the least. Every time I was schedule an appointment with the dentist, attempting to clear my schedule for the remainder of the night, like I was told by dentist to do, something so would come up, and I would need to reschedule my appointment time. Sadly, this happened several times, me having to reschedule my dentist appointment, due to circumstances that were beyond my control, and circumstances surrounding the aftercare associated with my extensive treatments that needed to be completed. Without realizing it, I gotten into a pattern of canceling my dentist appointment and rescheduling. Apparently the team at Chic Dental grew frustrated with me for frequently rescheduling my appointments (due to being a victim of domestic violence mims you), so they began to express their frustration vocally, and they would get vocally upset with me regardless of how much time I gave them, by notifying them in advance that I had to cancel... even if I gave them several days notice. It finally got to the point where I was informed that if I canceled one more appointment, that Chic Dental Care would no longer see me as a patient. I was very nervous as I attempted to keep my appointment. Well the time of my appointment came around and by some bizarre twist of fate, my car broke down, or something along those lines, right before my appointment. Chic Dental Care then notified me that I would no longer be a patient there, which was fine with me. I really did not need the additional stress in my life of having to deal with Chic Dental Care m, after they began giving me an attitude every time I would try to call and schedule an appointment. So I never returned to Chic Dental Care. I was able to find another Dentist. Then I made it to my first appointment with my other dentist and the dentist then goes on to inform me that he can't provide any services by cleaning my teeth that day etc. because he said that I'd already had my teeth cleaned that year by my previous dentist. I made it clear that I actually hadn't had my teeth cleaned that year, and that I also had some cavities that needed to be filled. He then scheduled me for another appointment, for another point in time, when he would be able to preform those additional procedures on me, due to the time constraints that he had with preforming the procedures that day. I leave my the dentist office, and I can't help but start shaking my head, trying to figure out what had happened with my dental insurance that year. Then it dawns on me, Chic Dental Care must have charged my dental insurance, for a cleaning procedure that I never had done at their office, and one that they never did on me period. I believe that they just took it upon themselves to charge my dental insurance for work that they never completed, in order to get paid for the day that I missed my appointment (due to an emergency). It was a really terrible situation to be in, because I really needed to have that cleaning procedure done on my teeth this year. read more

Took haft a day off today to take care my son's dentist appoitment. We were in early, at 2:00pm-on Wednesday the Dental Office wasn't busy. We sat there for several minutes to wait for someone to call my son in. There is a lady in the office-a customer service or helper called my son name and asked questions about his insurance. I told her that nothing had changed. Then she turned to me, " Do you have mask on you?" "Do you have mask on you?" No, I don't. I am not going to see the dentist, only my son and he got mask on him, I replied. She then said, you needed a mask on you, you needed a mask on you! Everything she said it repeatedly twice and very very rude. About 10 minutes later, she walked up from the back office and yelled at my son, "Don't run and play in the office"????? What the heck wrong with this lady? Is she having PMS or this Dental Office doesn't need customer? We used to be their customer, but after today date. Sorry.. I wouldn't recommended. read more

GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE ! Theres constantly an issue with these people. In the last month twice they've called me the day of my appointment an hour before saying I can't be seen because my insurance ! Today, they said again they can't see me because I can't be seen during my pregnancy. I told them last week my insurance covers my cleaning during pregnancy and once again today they said no it doesn't. I told the front desk I'll call my insurance and confirm that they do since she wanted to keep arguing with me!! Of course, I call my insurance and 3 way chic dental and my insurance stated I was CORRECT I can be seen. Front desk then literally says "this sounds like you were coached" and implied I was lying and so was medI-cal then started asking the rep for the information saying the calls seemed fake. The insurance rep gave chic dental her name, and all information they asked for and still said the call didn't sound right. WOW! I'm absolutely done with this place. Lol How do you tell someone to call their insurance and when they do you say they're lying about coverage, when the insurance company is on the phone telling you I can be seen. Front desk is completely UNPROFESSIONAL and argued with me over and over. I will fill out a grievance letter as well. read more

I'd give them a 1 star but I initially liked this dentist place because they spoke spanish. After yesterday, I'm never coming back. I have a tooth that needs to be extracted and after months of referring me to another place, they decided they would take my molar out for me. They numbed me up and began pulling. In the beginning it was just pressure but towards the end it was pain. I was numb but I could feel the pain from my tooth being pulled. Then they gave up because my tooth is too strong and it has two roots so it's difficult to take out. They referred me somewhere else and sent me on my merry way without pain killers or antibiotics. They left abrasions on my gums and my tooth was bloody and painful. The place they referred me to doesn't have availability until april. i decided to go somewhere else and they told me that they should've sent me with antibiotics at least. Anyways, my insurance doesn't cover the other place. So now I have a hurt tooth that hurts to begin with, and nowhere to get it taken out. I don't even know what i'm going to do. Thinking of going to Mexico for better and cheaper care. read more

I made an appointment with this dental office on 7/9/2021 for an appointment tomorrow, 7/23/2021. When I made the appointment, the front desk did explain that they took mainly pediatric clients (under 21), but have limited adult clients. I am 21+ and gave her my DOB and information and she continued to make the appointment for me. Today, I just got off the phone with the dental office and they stated that they stopped taking adult clients since July 2021. So, my appointment had to be canceled. Communication needs to be better here. Your office should call at least a few days in advance to confirm information like this. read more

Dr. Pauline is da bomb! Honestly, I used to hate going to the dentist before I started going to her, and now I've been a patient here for at least over 5 years. She works very efficiently and has such an upbeat and welcoming personality. Whenever I shamefully get cavities, she lets me opt for the numbing shot or not. I can be a chicken when it comes to shots, so if I decide to go through the filling without it, Dr. Pauline works as gently as possible and gets me through it. If I'm feeling courageous that day and take the shot, then the whole process is seamless. I just have to shut my eyes extra tight when the shot is about to happen, and it ends up being not too bad. When my friend moved to the SJ area, I recommended Dr. Pauline to him, and he enjoys going here as well. We've talked about how we love that Dr. Pauline is always trying to have a conversation with us while she's doing our teeth cleaning and when we struggle to respond with a mouth full of tools/saliva, she somehow understands what we're saying. The staff here is great too. Wendy has just the sweetest/cutest voice ever, and they're all just super nice overall. No problems here! read more

I have been coming here since I was a child and now I am in my mid 20s. I LOVE the employees here, most of them have been there since I was little and I can say they are always kind, attentive, respectful, caring, and professional. The ladies there are super amazing and have wonderful team work skills. I take my son and my sisters come and they also take their kids here. I loooooove this place!!!! My Family and i have been coming to Dr.Nguyen For many Years she is very gentle and good w/ children. I trust her to do a great work on my self and love ones. Don't get disencourage with the bad reviews Dr.Nguyen and her staff are very good on explaining the procedure and options, they show you where your cavities are with this really cool camera they have and the receptionist and staff just make u feel welcome like youre family. I love this place. Dr. Nguyen is so nice and her prices are reasonable. I got a mouth guard fitted for my TMJ and it works great. I actually drive all the way from SF just to get my teeth cleaned and it's totally worth it. Went to so many places in SF that were so expensive and had constant tenderness even after repeat visits from old filling which Dr. Nguyen fixed first time looking at it. I found Chic dental on yelp. After many attempts at finding a good dentist that has a great staff I feel fortunate to come across this place. I came in with my kids and they got their cleaning and then I got mine. A one stop shop for the whole family. My kids love Dr. Pauline and her staff is sooooo nice! Great pricing- It was much cheaper than other places that I have talked to and they did a great job with my cleaning (I am picky about this). My husband recently had an appointment and the day of got pulled into a meeting so I called to tell them I had to reschedule- I braced my self for an attitude like I've encountered with other dentist offices but no...... They were very accommodating and said these things happen would you like to reschedule now or wait until later? Again- sooo happy to find this place- I am over rude dental staffs- I will never switch as long as they're around. read more

I really want to give this place a 2 1/2 because the doctor and the staff was super friendly, but I'm not going to due to a horrible job on my husband's fillings and patching on his teeth. It kept chipping and food would get stuck and he kept coming back to get it patch and the dentist told him that it it's normal. Apparently it's normal because she had already charged his insurance and used up all his spending limits. When she did his fillings(it was silver). Majority dental place doesn't even do silver anymore due to mercury and she told him it was never proven. That's BS. We are definitely never coming back again. read more

I give this dentist two stars because my actual procedure was AWFUL but the receptionist was nice. I experienced agonizing pain during a simple procedure to get a filling. They started drilling on my tooth before they even gave me the pain medication. Then, when they were getting ready to give me the filling, they gave me pain medication but didn't wait for it to take effect. I was obviously in pain but they didn't offer to stop to try to make me feel better. I would not recommend this business to anyone else and I think I will definitely be looking for a new dentist! read more
