This is ghost kitchen location and I'm usually skeptical with ghost kitchen restaurant, but I tried the one in Stanton and it's been my favorite one of my favorites actually for hainan chicken rice and I feel like the rice is solid. It It could have been better tho because it's a little bit dry but most importantly is a very flavorful rice which what chicken rice is supposed to be. The food came up pretty quick and like Argo's kitchens they have their own pick up ways or methods and it's pretty easy to do as well plenty of parking in the plaza. Staff is very nice to give me extra sauces. The pickup place is designed to pick up other ghost kitchens restaurants in the same building so they have some instructions on that. read more

Wasn't expecting this to be a "ghost kitchen" with a bunch of other restaurants (I believe 8-12 total based on the monitors). The food was pretty good and the service was top-notch! The signature Hainan chicken rice was pretty solid with generous portions, tender chicken, and tasty sauces. Also comes with chicken broth on the side. We also got the Portuguese egg tarts and these were not good. Very similar to the frozen ones from Costco, maybe worse haha. Lacked flavor and the texture wasn't very crispy/flaky either. Definitely recommend skipping. The service was above and beyond, and super friendly. After placing our pickup order on the website, I realized that Square checkout defaulted to my company credit card and not my personal card. I called them and they told me to place a new order and they will happily refund the previous one, but I wasn't able to because it was already too close to closing time. I called them back and asked if I can pay in person when I'm there and they said yes. I once again ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice from Chic Now through DoorDash. I opted for skinless chicken this time. I also opted to pick up the order as it was near my office. Since it's located at a ghost kitchen, the pickup was a little confusing. Normally, you pick up at the back with the rest of the delivery drivers but ChicNow utilizes the front door as pick up. Strangely enough, the app updated as I was letting them know I was close to the location and said 'order picked up', which was impossible as I had not gotten my food yet. However, as I went inside the front, my order was sitting on the shelf to the left of the register with my name on it. I guess I should have come a little earlier but I got my food and all was well. The chicken was moist and the sauces were delicious with the meal. I love every sauce and just poured it over everything for maximum flavor! I just wish it came with more cucumber as the meal was quite hearty. I did not finish in one sitting but took some home as leftovers. This is a consistently great chicken & rice spot. This was kind of the food version of purgatory...making it an exact 3 star. Nothing bad, nothing great. It was strange...it was all thigh meat...which to me, isn't a great thing but generally has a ton of flavor. The meat was tender...but it had the flavor of unseasoned chicken breat...soooo...the unhealthiness of thigh with the flavor of breast. My other issue was that both orders were exactly the same. The sous vide chicken...was the same exact thing as the regular chicken. (I forget if it was sous vide, but there was a more expensive, supposedly more tender preparation, that was clearly the same exact preparation as the regular chicken). The rice was solid, well cooked, with a slight butter taste to it. Final verdict. I love the simple concept so much I Will give it another chance. But I would like a breast option (ehhhh) and more flavor. Not crazy overrated flavor...but chicken thighs naturally have flavor of their own. read more

I ordered the hainan chicken rice signature combo. I thought the rice was yummy. Fragrant, good flavor, nice level of stickiness and moistness. Really enjoyed the rice. The chicken was boneless, moist and pretty juicy but I felt it could've had more flavor and seasoning. Maybe needs more ginger and salt when the chicken is being poached. I was happy to see all 3 sauces as well as cucumber served with the hainan chicken rice - as it should. The ginger sauce was tasty. I personally prefer a darker soy sauce with this dish - this soy was very thin and watery. The chili sauce was very thin and watery as well which I thought would've been nicer if it was thicker. I wasn't a fan of the previous Hainan chicken place that occupied this ghost kitchen but this new replacement is definitely an upgrade. Not gonna lie, there's not a lot of places that specialize in Hainan chicken in OC (that I'm aware of at least). Most of them are in the 626 area which is a bit of a drive for chicken and rice. I'm not sure why there aren't more? Definitely a comfort type meal when you want something lighter and healthy. I've tried Chic Now twice so far and both times were consistent in quality. I ordered the dark meat version which comes with skin on dark meat, cucumbers, rice, soup, and 3 sauces. The portion of chicken is a little small for me so I order an extra side and it's the right amount. They give a lot of rice so more chicken is a must for me. The chicken is tender and juicy so I'll have to try the white meat version to see if that holds true. The sauces are all tasty and needed when eating this dish. The chili sauce is sweet with chili flavor but not really spicy. The ginger scallion oil is savory and aromatic. The sweet soy is sweet soy... light, umami, and sweet. The rice is seasoned and cooked in the chicken broth, so it's not just plain rice, but missing a bit of the aromatic flavor like ginger or garlic. If you like Hainan chicken rice or want to try it, I'd definitely recommend this place and order ahead online. I enjoyed it more than the hyped up Savoy Kitchen in the 626, so I hope this spot is here to stay or opens a permanent location in OC. read more

I have to say the chicken was pretty moist and the ginger sauce was on point. The sweet dipping sauce is also a nice plus as it adds more flavor to the dish. The rice itself was kind of bland, but that's fine since the flavor is coming from the sauces anyways. The soup is pretty much whatever. Overall the food is pretty good, but it is a bit pricy compared to other places and for the portion size. If the pricing was a bit better I would probably be a regular.
