Hands down, Pho Nic is my favorite spot for hainanese chicken in Irvine. They are always consistently good. I always get the dark meat only ($1.00 extra). The chicken is silky with a trio of sauces. I love the ginger scallion and the sweet soy sauce. I usually don't eat the chicken skin, but again, it's so silky here that I just gobble it up. The pho is pretty good too. And they do not skimp on the protein. I find it to be very reasonably priced. You can make your own bowl with 4 toppings for $14.00. I really wanted to gate keep this place, but alas, they deserve their flowers just in the chicken alone!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here with family and friends for lunch and it was pretty busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was located in the Costco plaza so parking always sucks. There's a good amount of seating but for bigger parties, it's a bit a of a wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place has good lighting and is clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is friendly and gives you a decent amount of time to order. We got the pho tai and hainan chicken plate. Both were good and tasty and kids enjoyed it. The hainan chicken came with 3 sauce and had good flavors for the chicken and rice. The pho broth was flavorful as well. Appetizers were decent. Drinks were ok. Nothing special or different from other places. We were hungry so we didn't have much pictures other than the hainan plate. Note: Tip is also include in party of 6 or more. Check your receipt when paying.

I really like the Hainan Chicken Rice and the Nic Pho Which include the back rib chicken is very tender, but not over cooked Pho Broth is very flavorful and brisket, Tendon, rib is good as well When I came, the restaurant were packed, but the wait was not bad, around 15 mons The staff is well-trained as you can see by their friendly and quick service 5 Star Well Deserved

Been here a few times already for lunch already and it's a good reliable places when we want something comforting and filling! The bowls always comes out consistently presentable too, especially for such quick service. And I've come only for lunch and so far always lucky to get a table We usually order the Hainan chicken rice and one pho to share between the two of us, and that ends up being the perfect amount. The chicken is soft, the rice is flavorful. The soup also hits the spot, especially before adding all the fresh herbs and bean sprouts on the side. Portions are quite generous, the flavors clean and comforting, and everything arrives fast without feeling rushed. Now our easy lunch rotation spot!

The food was on point here! My chicken pho was impeccable. From the silky sliced pieces of chicken perfectly cooking on the side to the perfectly cooked pho noodles. Everyone loved their beef and special pho. Sizzling steak and surf and turf were also well loved. Fries and garlic wings were also delicious and good the next day. Service was amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance also good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Thank you Pho Nic!

Consistently good pho with generous portion of meat! My dad has enjoyed the Hainan chicken here as well. It's in a Costco plaza so the parking lot is busy during peak times.

This will be my go-to for Hainanese Chicken! The dish is more of Singaporean-Malaysian style. It's similar to Ipoh restaurant in Alhambra but it's less oily, which I prefer. The food came out super fast, like less than 5 minutes after I ordered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are super packed during weekday lunch. It seems like lots of workers come here during their lunch time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Weekends of course has long line, unfortunately.

I've been to Pho Nic and couple times and tried both their Pho Nic (classic beef pho with rib bone) and the Pho Chicken. Overall, both are good choices if you're craving a bowl of hot Pho, especially on a cold day. The broth in both bowls was well-seasoned and rich. The meat on the beef rib bone was tender and came off the bone almost on its own while the chicken (even the white meat) was really juicy and tender. The service both times I went was great. Waiters were attentive and food came out decently quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store has a fair amount of tables inside only, but turnover is pretty quick so there isn't really a long wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is my go-to lunch spot near work. The wait times to get seated, place an order, and eat are pretty short, so I can easily grab a bowl of pho and finish within my one-hour lunch break. The only downside is the parking situation. Since it's located in the same plaza as Costco, finding a parking spot can be a challenge, especially during peak hours. I appreciate that they take Apple Pay and offer a QR code system for ordering, which makes the whole process quick and convenient. It feels very modern and efficient. So far, I've mainly stuck to their Hainan chicken and rice and the build-your-own pho, and both have been solid choices. The prices are reasonable. There are cheaper options out there, but I'd have to drive farther, and when I'm craving pho during lunch, I don't have much time to spare.

    Austin B.

Usually come for the pho and chicken wings but finally got the Hainan chicken and it is very very good. The red ginger sauce is spicier than most which I appreciate the kick. Comparable to speciality places that only sell that dish. I continue to love this pho nic!!

Open now for over 2 years next to a very busy shopping plaza by Costco and they got all the right ingredients for a good meal for the whole family. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice clean restaurant and restroom here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is adequate and 3 staff working the tables for lunch on Tuesday afternoon. The golden fried chicken was not the best as you can tell not piping hot wings that just got fried today. The Hainam chicken and rice was a good second choice for lunch. But I had to taste both to decide whether to give them 3 stars or five star. Pho Nic probably has better beef Pho options than chicken and if you order drumsticks they charge $1 more. Overall pho Nic is average Chain restaurant in the same category of new Pho restaurant opening in the last two years in the Vietnamese community by Northern folks immigrating from Vietnam in recent years to America. The Great Gold Coast of California business opportunities. But for the Real OG flavor and true Southern hospitality you gotz to taste Pho 79 in Westminster California USA. Cash only at Pho 79.

I met a friend here at lunchtime on a weekday. When we arrived the place was packed with only one table available which we snagged. Our waiter was all business, understandably too busy for friendly chit chat; just get the order and quickly move on. My friend was in the mood for pho, which is why we were here (my friend proclaimed the pho here was fantastic) but I wasn't in the mood for anything soupy or noodley. I just ordered a couple of appetizers - deep fried eggrolls and cream cheese wontons - along with a Thai tea. The Thai tea was perfection; it doesn't get any better than that. The egg rolls were crunchy-delicious and the wontons were equally crunchy-delicious if not more so. The sweet and sour sauce was superb and enhanced the flavor of the wontons as I gave each one a good dip. While I might not have gotten the full Pho Nic experience, I can say that their appetizers are excellent.

    Hainanese Chicken Rice

Yelp recommended Pho Nic as I was browsing for a place to eat near Fountain Valley. They are located in a strip mall next to Costco in Fountain Valley, so expect parking to be difficult. Overall, I was disappointed. The food didn't really stand out, but it wasn't shabby either. It's okay. Hainanese Chicken Rice - 2.5/5. I have incredibly high standards for this dish, since I grew up with it and it's still my favorite. Rice is a core part of Hainanese Chicken Rice, and most people miss it. Pho Nic's chicken rice is starchy, lumpy, and lacks the fragrance and taste expected of a good Hainanese Chicken Rice. The chicken wasn't too bad. The poached meat is tender and has a lovely, subtle ginger and scallion flavor. But I wish there were a bit more chicken flavor. The chicken skin has a slightly rubbery texture, but it's good overall. The chicken soup isn't as clear as I would like. It has a reasonably strong star anise and clove flavor, which I don't quite like - but it's subjective, I usually prefer my chicken soup clear and has more chicken flavor. Vermicelli Bowl - 3/5. We had it with tofu and shrimp. It's not bad. The tofu, the dish's highlight, was deep-fried to a nice crisp. Overall, the dish was okay.

We chose Quán Hỷ over some of the other popular spots because the reviews said the food had more flavor and the fried mochi layer was thinner. The bánh ít ram had really good flavor and was definitely worth trying. However, the fried mochi pieces were not consistent. Some were thicker, while others were thinner. They were also fried unevenly. A few had a nice crunch, but others could have been cooked longer. Overall, I think they ALL would have been even better with a more golden and crispy exterior. The bánh canh tôm cua reminded me of súp măng cua, so I enjoyed it. The broth was flavorful, and I personally love thick noodles. I have not tried enough versions of bánh canh to say exactly how it compares traditionally, but I liked this one more than another spot I previously tried. The bánh bèo also had a lot of flavor, and I liked that they were not too thick. I just wish they came with some chicharrones or another crunchy topping for more texture. Overall, the food was flavorful, and we would definitely return. Unfortunately, the share plates we received were not properly cleaned and still had food residue on them. We ended up cleaning them ourselves because it was difficult to flag someone down. The staff members were very nice whenever we interacted with them, but the service was not very attentive.

The restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and the parking lot is shared with several other businesses, so finding a parking space can be difficult. Location and Parking -- 2/5 The location is convenient, but parking can be challenging because many businesses share the same parking lot. Atmosphere and Comfort -- 2/5 The air-conditioning was weak, and the front door remained open, so the restaurant felt warmer than expected. Service -- 3/5 The service was only okay. The waiters were not especially friendly or welcoming. Food -- 2/5 I ordered the mì vịt tiềm. As everyone can see from my picture, my bowl came with only one small piece of bok choy. In comparison, pictures posted by other customers show the same dish served with several pieces of fresh vegetables. The noodles were okay but much too oily. The broth served on the side was not hot enough, and the duck was dry and tough instead of tender. The pickled vegetables were also too sour. Restaurants can change over time. Based on the difference between my meal and the meals shown in other customers' pictures, the portions and food quality appear to be inconsistent and declining. Cleanliness -- 2/5 The dining area was acceptable, but the restroom needed more attention and cleaning. Overall -- 2/5 Stars Overall, our experience was below average. Hue Ky Mi Gia may be worth trying once if you want something different, but the food, service, comfort, and cleanliness all need improvement.
