Hands down, Pho Nic is my favorite spot for hainanese chicken in Irvine. They are always consistently good. I always get the dark meat only ($1.00 extra). The chicken is silky with a trio of sauces. I love the ginger scallion and the sweet soy sauce. I usually don't eat the chicken skin, but again, it's so silky here that I just gobble it up. The pho is pretty good too. And they do not skimp on the protein. I find it to be very reasonably priced. You can make your own bowl with 4 toppings for $14.00. I really wanted to gate keep this place, but alas, they deserve their flowers just in the chicken alone!

There's a good amount of seating but for bigger parties, it's a bit a of a wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place has good lighting and is clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff is friendly and gives you a decent amount of time to order. We got the pho tai and hainan chicken plate. Both were good and tasty and kids enjoyed it. The hainan chicken came with 3 sauce and had good flavors for the chicken and rice. The pho broth was flavorful as well. Appetizers were decent. Drinks were ok. Nothing special or different from other places. We were hungry so we didn't have much pictures other than the hainan plate. Note: Tip is also include in party of 6 or more. Check your receipt when paying.

The chicken is soft, the rice is flavorful. The soup also hits the spot, especially before adding all the fresh herbs and bean sprouts on the side. Portions are quite generous, the flavors clean and comforting, and everything arrives fast without feeling rushed. Now our easy lunch rotation spot!
The food was on point here! My chicken pho was impeccable. From the silky sliced pieces of chicken perfectly cooking on the side to the perfectly cooked pho noodles. Everyone loved their beef and special pho. Sizzling steak and surf and turf were also well loved. Fries and garlic wings were also delicious and good the next day. Service was amazing. Overall, both are good choices if you're craving a bowl of hot Pho, especially on a cold day. The broth in both bowls was well-seasoned and rich. The meat on the beef rib bone was tender and came off the bone almost on its own while the chicken (even the white meat) was really juicy and tender. The service both times I went was great. Waiters were attentive and food came out decently quickly. I met a friend here at lunchtime on a weekday. When we arrived the place was packed with only one table available which we snagged. Our waiter was all business, understandably too busy for friendly chit chat; just get the order and quickly move on. My friend was in the mood for pho, which is why we were here (my friend proclaimed the pho here was fantastic) but I wasn't in the mood for anything soupy or noodley. I just ordered a couple of appetizers - deep fried eggrolls and cream cheese wontons - along with a Thai tea. The Thai tea was perfection; it doesn't get any better than that. The egg rolls were crunchy-delicious and the wontons were equally crunchy-delicious if not more so. The sweet and sour sauce was superb and enhanced the flavor of the wontons as I gave each one a good dip. While I might not have gotten the full Pho Nic experience, I can say that their appetizers are excellent.
Yelp recommended Pho Nic as I was browsing for a place to eat near Fountain Valley. They are located in a strip mall next to Costco in Fountain Valley, so expect parking to be difficult. Overall, I was disappointed. The food didn't really stand out, but it wasn't shabby either. It's okay. Hainanese Chicken Rice - 2.5/5. I have incredibly high standards for this dish, since I grew up with it and it's still my favorite. Rice is a core part of Hainanese Chicken Rice, and most people miss it. Pho Nic's chicken rice is starchy, lumpy, and lacks the fragrance and taste expected of a good Hainanese Chicken Rice. The chicken wasn't too bad. The poached meat is tender and has a lovely, subtle ginger and scallion flavor. But I wish there were a bit more chicken flavor. The chicken skin has a slightly rubbery texture, but it's good overall. The chicken soup isn't as clear as I would like. It has a reasonably strong star anise and clove flavor, which I don't quite like - but it's subjective, I usually prefer my chicken soup clear and has more chicken flavor. Vermicelli Bowl - 3/5. We had it with tofu and shrimp. It's not bad. The tofu, the dish's highlight, was deep-fried to a nice crisp. Overall, the dish was okay.

I honestly didn't expect to have such good Hainan chicken at a pho spot, but wow--it was so good! The chicken was tender, flavorful, and definitely hit the spot. I also got the fresh spring rolls, and they were nicely packed with a really tasty peanut sauce. The lychee rose tea was another surprise. It was super refreshing, and I loved that it had real lychee pieces at the bottom to enjoy at the end. Everything tasted fresh, and you can tell they put care into the food. I came for the Hainan chicken, but now I actually want to come back and try their pho. Definitely worth checking out! read more
Ive been to Pho nic probably more than 20 times , staple dish: Hainanese chicken rice. I have tried this dish at so many restauranr, and I gotta say, Pho Nic set a different standard for this dish in OC area. Deboned chicken, meat is juicy and tender, the dish comes with three different sauce for you to choose. Some place only give a few pieces for deboned chicken but Pho Nic protion is fullfilling. The rice is cooked in chicken broth and ginger so its very flavorful. I also tried their Pho, its pretty decent, 4/5. Vermicilli noodle: 3.7/5. I like the Cha Gio. this place is mid. I had really high hopes because my aunt kept raving about it to my mom. Unfortunately, my aunt let us down with this one. It is located in a busy shopping center due to its proximity to costco. There is a lot of parking, but it gets packed. When you walk in they greet you immediately and direct you to a table. The restaurant was packed. I thought this was a good sign. I also like to ask the staff what is popular and their go to menu item - unfortunately, the server we had provided no input or helpful insight. We went with their Hainanese Chicken rice plate and pho. The food came out so quickly we barely finished ordering what we wanted and it was coming to the table. Pho was okay. Soup was bland , but thankfully it came with that dipping sauce because that was the only source of flavor. Rice place was more of the same note. Bland rice boiled with chicken water and chicken that you needed to drench in the sauces they provide. overall, I probably would not go again. First I order the goi cuon appetizer (best in class). - Dipping sauce is a little thin but that's ok - Mix in sriarcha sauce - A great way to start your meal Then the hainan chicken comes out next. - I always get double the scallion sauce, and 1 red chili (no soy sauce - just too salty) - The portion of chicken is generous; garnished with sesame oiled sliced scallions, 2 slices of fresh cucumber and 2 slices of tomato - The rice is made with broth (SO GOOD); it's a loose rice (eat it with a spoon) - It also comes with a small side soup with scallions (it might be made of chicken boullion, not all bone broth) They always oblige me with more soup. I used to order the large $4 bowl. But now tryna order the smaller $2 bowl. And they are kind enough to give me some do chua (a pickled element). Place is always clean, service is solid. Reliable Lunch Spot - Great Hainanese Chicken Rice & Solid Pho Came in for lunch with a group of 6 on a Saturday and only had a short wait, pretty impressive since Pho Nic is usually hopping. The Hainanese Chicken Rice was the star of the show, super tender chicken, fragrant oily rice, and that addictive ginger and chilli sauce. Honestly one of the best I've had around Orange County. The Pho Combination and Pho Shrimp & Veggie were very tasty too, broth was flavorful, and the portions are generous. Deep-fried egg rolls were crispy and perfect for sharing. Service was quick and friendly, and with the 18% service charge already added for our party of 6, everything still felt reasonably priced for the quality. If you're in Fountain Valley and craving Hainanese chicken rice or a solid bowl of pho for lunch, this is an easy recommendation. Already planning my next visit! read more

Solid spot for a variety of viet and viet fusion dishes! Popping during lunch and dinner time! Even on a weekday 3 dishes can be $45, but we are super full Spring rolls 4/5 Not too skimpy on the pork and not too heavy on the vermicelli, they don't break apart when you bite into them. the sauce is pretty good, a nice balance of hoisin + peanut butter. I like adding sriracha in mine. I just don't like bean sprouts, so I'll have to request them to remove them from the rolls. Hainan chicken $18 or so after tax ; 4/5 Lots of protein! I was quite full after I ate all the chicken. Rice isn't my fav compared to other spots, it's less chicken-y than I'd like. Sauces are fine, my fav one is the soy and ginger one. Their spicy one packs quite a punch! For the price, this dish is solid and very consistent. Garlic wings 4/5 Got this on another occasion and they're quite tasty. Not super small nor super fried, nice balance of flavor without needing additional carbs. Sizzling rice with steak/chicken 4/5 Great to share and lots of flavor! A better version of pepper lunch. Beef pho 4/5 Can choose 4 meats for ~$14 is a steal in this economy. It reminds me of the pho I used to eat when I was younger. Bae really likes it, it's solid for the price with lots of noodles and lots of beef. Tofu spring rolls 3/5 I was curious, but these are not my cup of tea. The tofu isn't marinaded and is pretty bland. Wonton noodle soup 2/5 This sucks lol the soup is nothing like LDK or anything I've had. The noodles are sad and not that eggy, even the wontons are very small and lacks the white pepper flavor. It is a bit strange to go to a pho place to order rice. But this was what we did. The Hainanese chicken rice here was tasty. Many people recommended it. The rice was flavored with chicken broth and the chicken we got was moist. We did order the chicken pho to try out. It was simple and tasty as well. The restaurant was bright and service was quick once we did order. Overall we had a good experience here and will come back for more chicken rice. read more

Craving pho today and decided to try this place and so glad we did. The pho soup was flavorful but a little salty to our liking. The beef in the soup was super tender. The star of the day was the unexpected Hainan Chicken plate. The chicken was cooked perfectly. And no bones!!! So much easier to eat and their scallions/ginger sauce was a perfect pairing (even asked for more)! The food came out real quick too!! Hands down! Pho Nic is added to my favorite legit pho places in the OC. It is located in the same plaza as Costco Fountain Valley and I ate here during lunch after my Costco run. Despite dining solo, I was immediately seated at a small table. The waitress handed me the menu and I was in the mood for something light. I ordered a vegan pho in vegan broth. Alongside their vegan broth, the veggie pho can also be ordered with chicken or beef pho broth. Although it was pretty busy on a Saturday, my order was ready in less than 10 minutes. The presentation is impressive and the ingredients were perfectly portioned. The vegan broth is very therapeutic and the vegetables were crisp. The tofu was sliced in rectangular shapes and was very firm. How I wish I could finish everything in one sitting today, so I opted to pay at the counter and take the rest of my order to go. Not sure what has happened but this place has gone down hill. It took so long to get service and the veggies they gave us for the pho were literally dead. Like limp and lifeless greens and brown sprouts. The broth just isn't as good as it used to be. The interior is showing wear and the Christmas decor from years prior is still up I'm so sad. Hope they can turn this around. read more

The place is clean and vibrant. Menu is simple, pho, noodles, or sizzling beef and their main attraction is hainam chicken. We drove there just for that on a Sunday evening and they were out. Argh. Ordered the bun nuong which is their vermicelli noodle bowl. This was just ok. Nothing spectacular. I don't know if I'll drive back considering there are so many bun and noodle places in Westminster. read more
