We were in the area today and decided that we had a taste for a submarine sandwich. This one came up on a search in Yelp and we have not eaten here before. My husband went inside and was greeted by a very nice woman and she made some recommendations. Since the restaurant is only open for take out (due to Covid 19) we had to eat in the car. We looked over the menu and ended up choosing the skyscraper sub on the Italian roll (not toasted or heated at all by choice) and the Seafood and crab with provolone on toasted Italian roll. OMG The skyscrapers sandwich was so huge I could barely take a clear bite across the bread! It was very flavorful and just the right amount of salty taste without being overpowering and the texture was amazing! The Seafood and crab and provolone was very good, I would have liked more toppings but it was still a decent sandwich I highly recommend you give this place a try! We will be back again for sure... our bellies are full but our mouths are asking for more!! You won't be disappointed!! read more

Decent sandwich but they come at a hefty price ($8-12). Granted, we got drinks and chips, but lunch for two at a place like this should not be over $30. It took quite awhile for us to get our food...at 2:00 in the afternoon. Why? Because of the social hour going on between the guy in front of us and the employee. Pretty annoying. I give them big thumbs up for literally having a bottle of hand sanitizer and a canister of Clorox wipes on every single table. And they're very open about taking and using whatever you need. However, when your food handling employees don't wear masks during a statewide mandate, that pretty much wipes out the awesomeness of the availability of table supplies. I am a big supporter of small businesses and Rammy's fits that bill. They always make me feel welcome and make an absolutely phenomenal sandwich. My go to sandwich is the New Yorker on Pretzel. The rosemary aioli by far makes this roast beef sandwich stand out. Employee's are very friendly and willing to offer suggestions on sandwich choices. The restaurant was clean and spaced out for COVID and feel safe being inside. Besides the sandwiches they have the BEST ice, not to many places you can get the "nugget" ice. read more

The staff is friendly and seems genuinely glad to see you. Excellent brownies. Skip the sandwich. Just eat all the brownies. They do run out so get there early! A close stop for lunch near Chicago Executive (PWK) which was a great option for my copilot and I. The place was packed and the line was out the door, since we came around noon on a Thursday. I went with the Buffalo Chicken Sub and I thought it tasted great. My only complaint is that with the price point, you should get more meat. It's definitely comparable to other reviews that explain the lack of meat and excessive toppings. The high prices wouldn't be an issue if the sandwich were a little bigger. Their selection of chips was interesting because they offer quite a few that I've never heard of. Overall, friendly staff, great subs, overpriced for the amount of food. Three and a half stars from me for this place but since Yelp doesn't allow 0.5 stars, I'll round it up to four. The reason for my 3.5 stars is simple - small portion sandwiches, high prices. So unlike some of the reviewers who wrote that their sandwiches fill up your appetite or prices are reasonable, I respectfully disagree with them. I have been here a handful of times. I have always gotten good service and delicious sandwiches but their food is not filling unless you get a lot of stuff. And no, I am not the kind who always needs big portion meals to satisfy my hunger. For example, I recently had their (new) 7" Chicken Sandwich with bbq sauce, bacon, cheese, crispy fried onions and hot giardinera peppers on a Naan ($8.95). The sandwich was super delicious. I also had a bag of chips (Dirty something brand's Sriracha Honey flavor). Also, pretty good. But this wasn't a filling meal. I was still hungry afterwards. And this wasn't the first time either that I felt that way after eating here. My total for a 7" sandwich and a bag of chips came up to almost $13. That's kinda crazy. Almost like downtown Chicago type prices. I know Wheeling's tax rate is high. I should have asked for itemized pricing to get an idea but I didn't bother with it because I knew what I was getting into except that I didn't expect my total to be $13. Anyways, Rammy's has great variety of sandwiches, chips, sides and desserts. The service is wonderful. They make you feel welcomed and are friendly. They are only open on weekdays during the daytime. But that's what you get with many mom 'n pop local businesses. I don't go here often. I was looking at my 'best sub list' and saw Rammy's and decided to go back there. What else am I gonna do during this covid-19 crap but eat! Well, other than the prices increasing the Megastructure sub was excellent except for the bread so I'm going with 4 stars. It was too dense and now that I'm writing this I think they gave me a pretzel roll instead of a sub roll. I'll try another bread on my next visit plus I didn't like paying 55 cents for 10 cents worth of giardinera AND it was nearly $13, but there had to be nearly a pound of meats and cheeses on/in it. I was hankering for a sub for lunch today. My usual go-to is Jersey Mike's, but for some reason, my location has no roast beef. They say it's due to COVID-19, but seriously every other sub place has it, so that's a load of horse crap. However, the true awesomeness did not come until I sank my teeth into their sub. Holy Moly! Awesome doesn't quite do it justice. My wife got The Lien and I got the Ultimate Sawhorse. Just. WOW! They were terrific! This is my go-to place. I erased the apps for the other two places off my phone. I'm never going to them again. This is by far the best place I've been for subs in Chicago. And I've had Tony's Subs in Deerfield, Captain Nemo's and Costello's (which has gone out of business). This is my reigning champ. So, I walked in to order and the place is large. Lots of seating inside and a makeshift area outside. The staff were great. Very friendly and talkative and helpful. When I asked about my sub (Ultimate Sawhorse) he made a couple suggestions to enhance it and they were spot on. Next time, I'm adding hot peppers. So, so delicious. They have other options like the mac and cheese that sounded good and nachos (which my wife lamented about not seeing until after I left to get the subs). Plus they have shakes. I'm telling ya, if you want an awesome sub and a great staff to make it, look no further than Rammy's. read more

I lived and worked in Wheeling for more years than I care to count. So I'm embarrassed to say today was my first visit to Rammy's. The line to order was very long. A good sign in my book. I had a crab and seafood sub. I guess they "roast " their sandwiches. I'm not a big fan of this so I asked them to keep it cold. I tried the chipotle mayo on the sandwich. Yummy is all I can say. I also had a side of their homemade tortellini salad. It was good. But the sub was even better. Despite the long line, service was fast and efficient.
