I've been eating here for 30 years and it's always a good choice for lunch. I'm really happy to see they're open again after the car hit their building last year. I've had corned beef, roast beef, mixed Italian, turkey and tuna subs and they're all good. Sandwiches are one of my favorite foods and I especially love going to family-owned places because they always have that homey flavor that chain restaurants can't seem to get. With that being said, I was excited to try this place when I saw how reasonable the prices are and the heartiness of the subs in people's photos. Maybe I didn't order the right thing or maybe this is how it normally is but I was extremely disappointed with my order. I got the turkey breast sub which was about $8 and it barely had any contents and the cheese they used was American! It looked like a kraft slice and the bread was stale. I was not expecting to pay that much for the equivalent of an elementary school sandwich. The employees were nice but they kept questioning me about the 10% off discount I got from Yelp for checking in. It immediately prompted on my phone and said to show an employee or the owner so I decided to use it but no one had any clue what it was! Perhaps it's an error on yelp's behalf but I don't understand why they'd give a coupon code without the business's knowledge. That was a bit bizarre. The employee was kind enough to apply the code even though she was confused but the quality of the sub was not worth it. I love that Tony Subs is still in business. Right down the street from where I went to high school, I've been coming to Tony Subs for, gulp, over 30 years now. This was a classic place back then, it's got to be historic by now. Nothing fancy about Tony Subs. Just a good old fashioned place for a great sub on some great bread. Of all the restaurants that we've visited over the years, no question the place I have visited most often is Tony Subs. Granted a lot of those visits, I mean a lot of visits, were back in high school but this is one of those places that we have to visit when we're in town. Decided to try Tony's for the first time tonight. This was the 1st and will be the last time we order from them. If you can't even get a simple order correct and then refuse to make it right after you admit you screwed it up, then you have no business being in business. We placed a relatively simple order on their website at 5 o'clock. Three whole turkey subs, three orders of fries and a cookie. The first one we added hot peppers and extra turkey and they forgot both. The second one they forgot the tomato. And the third they forgot the extra pickle and the cheese. We also ordered 3 orders of fries which they did not deliver at all. I called there immediately after we received the order to tell them that the three fries were missing. Also, when I place the order, they said it would be delivered at 5:20 PM and it didn't show up till 5:40 PM. No big deal. I didn't even get to telling them that the three sandwiches were wrong because this is how the conversation went... A woman answered the phone and I told her that we were missing part of our order and she said, oh, the french fries? And I said yes, the french fries. She then said, well we close in 10 minutes, how soon can you get here to pick them up? I said why should I come and pick them up when you guys forgot them? I said, forget it, just reverse the charges for the three missed orders of fries on my credit card. (Basically almost $14 including tax.) She replied, we can't give you a credit card refund. I said why not? Because you placed the order on the website, she said. I said, it's your store's website, so why can't you refund my credit card? So paused and then spoke to someone else in the background and asked them if they we able give me a refund on my credit card. The gentleman in the background said no as well. She then said, what we can do is give you a credit, so the next time you come in, we will give you the credit on your order. I said, you know it, forget it, I'm not ordering from you again, so I will just call the credit card company and have the charge reversed on my card and hung up. How this place has stayed in business for over 50 years is beyond me when they can't get a simple order for three sandwiches and three orders of fries right and then totally drop the ball on providing customer service when they admittedly made a mistake. I totally get that mistakes can be made, no huge issue there, but when you can't or don't even make the effort to make it right, you have no business serving customers. Also, even though I got a 10% first time customer discount, my order was close to $75, for three sandwiches, three fries and a cookie. read more

I've been driving past Tony's Subs for years now but it's never been properly lunchtime so I never stop, but a good old fashioned sub is definitely my jam. Having had the idea of going in in my head for so long I kind of had a picture of what I'd see when I finally got around to stopping in. Tony's Subs is a not quite that. It's a bit too clean, a bit too managed. Where's the guy in the black beanie with the dirty white t-shirt chomping on a cigar butt? Where's the naked disdain for the customer? Where's the grease and dinginess? This place is bright and clean, orderly, and everything is good and proper. Our sandwiches came quickly. They were tasty and the bread was fresh. I was confused to not find any chips in the place, which was weird for a sub shop, but then I looked up, and sure enough, hanging from the ceiling in tidy little military rows were all the chips you can even imagine. So, the joint is perfect. They've got it all: hot sandwiches, cold subs, fries, mozzarella sticks, even shakes and cones! I went here today because I was hungry and stopped to get gas next door. I've been passing the place for years but never stopped in. I ordered a full turkey sandwich. The sandwich was decent, similar in style to like a Jersey Mikes. The price was fine, a little under $10 for a foot long. The restaurant was questionably clean. The bathroom was tidy but what stuck out to me was that the floors had a lot of debris and dirt on them. The service was quick and the sandwich makers were friendly. Overall, it's a an average place. It's no better or worse than a sandwich chain. The Turano bread was good, though. I probably would go back in a pinch, but not go out of my way to go. read more

Called the owner Anthony he states there not part of yelp!! Not part of yelp! Well not sure how you could not be part of yelp. The store is rundown so you would have at least hoped three food was good but it's absolutely terrible. We ordered cold cut sandwiches because that's their speciality. A clean bathroom in a dive is a good sign in my book (what book anyway?). We opted for three turkey subs and a giant...I mean giant...dill pickle for my husband since he already ate. There's a reason this place has been around for more than 20 years. It's because the food quality is outstanding. For $5.99 we each got combos - fresh Gonnella sub rolls filled with piled high turkey, cheese, the fixins, shredded lettuce (the really messy kind), a bag of chips, and a 20oz. drink. Hello?! Fresh, flavorful, and hands down way better than the other sub shop staple I'm tired of. And, I'm still full! The hours are interesting. I'm obsessed with wondering what people order at 8AM in the morning? I stared down the menu thinking there must be a breakfast sandwich, but I'm guessing it's probably so people can pick up their lunch before they start their day. Smart people. I noticed a sign hanging from the ceiling advertising 3-6 foot sub trays for parties and events. Great for game day, graduation day, family picnic events, etc. Ok, the service. They are fast and to the point here. No time or interest for clever conversation. Don't expect a thank you or anything of the sort. If you are looking for love, you might want to go elsewhere. Honestly I didn't know whether to be annoyed or laugh at how unfriendly the guy behind the counter was. But, I came prepared for this after reading some of the other reviews. I've moved away and it's a little bit of a drive to get there but well worth the drive. The service and ambiance are exactly as I remembered from many years ago. The window has a sign " Daily Special " , so I asked , what is your " Daily Special " , the person told me they do not have " Daily Special " , I asked " anything good in this place " since I never been to this restaurant .
