I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got around to it. A typical deli sandwich place with lots of different sandwiches to choose from. We had the corned beef, pastrami, roast beef, hot dogs and a chicken wrap with cole slaw on the side. The sandwiches were overall decent. Though for the pastrami and corned beef sandwiches especially I felt like the meat was lacking in quantity. When I order those type of sandwiches I sort of expect them to be overflowing in quantity enough to make more than 1 sandwich with the amount of meat they give. The roast beef sandwich was also quite small, only like 2 thin slices of roast beef. Overall decent sandwiches though nothing spectacular.

I wanted to love this place. As I walked to the front of the store, everything about the sign, the decor, and the menu made this seem like a "hidden gem". The menu options looked delicious and there were several options of delicious hot soups to choose from. When I actually got the food, this seemed like a total bait and switch. Instead of a gourmet deli with freshly prepared options and wonderful aromas, this felt more like a mash of premade ingredients that didn't seem premium at all. Here are thoughts on the items I tried: Beef chili: Slightly spicy with a good amount of cheese and onions, I wish this was a bit thicker in consistency but this was pretty enjoyable. Chicken noodle soup: The chicken seemed overly soft with no real texture, the broth contained a bunch of vegetables but didn't really have the flavor to match the look. Manny's original corned beef: Nice flavor, but a bit small in sandwich size. Bread was nothing special, but the beef was sliced nicely with a good saltiness and strong beef flavor. The thick stack provided a nice mouthfeel with a soft texture of the beef. Triple decker: The smoked bacon dominated this dish both in flavor and in texture. The turkey breast provided a nice saltiness to go with the fresh tomato and lettuce. Overall, prices are high and portion sizes are small. I enjoyed the flavors of the food, but the food wasn't good enough to justify the premium paid for it. Similar options such as Jason's Deli or local deli shops provide a similar product at a better price, with better side options.

#3 Baja. Made with LOVE - so all the delicious stuff stays inside!

I have only eaten a few times at Halsted Street Deli - and I have to say I really like it. The everyone who works there is awesome, friendly, helpful, accommodating, they really makes me feel welcome and appreciated. The menu board is impossible for me to read, but then my vision is worse than average so, I just grab the printed menu. Their sandwiches are big and YUMMY! #3 Baja is delicious - when I choose it i thought shredded carrots? in a sandwich? sounds messy - but good.. mmmmk... the ingredients were fresh and put in place just right so they stay in the bread as you eat - I mean that sandwich was made with LOVE. The atmosphere is nice, great place to have a bite to eat and a conversation.

Hmmm chicken dijon but so plain... almost no noticeable taste of dijon so I added some mustard

I didn't know this was such a big chain/franchise. So it's right by my work and the only place i haven't tried in the plaza so I decided it was time. Ok, so it is 4:30PM so i get why its so empty, I was the only one there. Picked out the #10 Chicken Dijon on tomato focaccia bread. Barely any dijon but I must admit the bread was pretty good. It's like the size of a quarter pounder but for $7.80. I would've been happier with a footlong from subway though. Anyways, I handed the guy my cash and after he gives me change I see he goes to condense food by taking the little leftover bits in one container, no gloves and without washing, and puts them in a a newer fuller container. Not only has he contaminated the little bits, but now the whole new one is as well. I'm guessing one must be the manager even though he sure didn't seem it, I would suggest better training and food sanitation practices. I'm pretty nit picky about these things and have seen enough behind closed door action. This in plain sight while I'm standing there?? I wouldn't want to know what happens in the back room.

Corn beef sandwich!!!! Omg!!!! Soooooo good!!!

We tried the spaghetti marinara and antipasto salad, but watched mouth watering pizza pies go by as well as giant, juicy looking Italian beef sandwiches. We also spotted an authentic brick pizza oven which was a pleasant surprise. Bonta is a no frills spot, and has pre-rolled plastic flatware, so don't expect anything fancy, the food was the star here! There was plenty of seating and is located in a strip mall off 21/Milwaukee Avenue, in Lincolnshire with convenient parking. I can't wait to go back and try the pizza!

The scallops were large and very fulfilling. The pickled fennel added much flavor to the dish overall, I was pleasantly pleased. The tostada had me wanting more, it was very fresh and a great started for the scallops. My husband ordered the bleu cheese steak, although he thought the portion of mashed potatoes were small, he was completely satisfied with the meal and said the steak was tender and delectable. Service was great, as attentive as could be and the food came quickly. It was an overall good experience. I was not expecting this from a resort restaurant.

Not wanting to park far and walk far for the theater hubs and I decided to have dinner at Three Embers before the show. It was a great decision! Making reservations was easy through their website and making last minute changes was just as easy. Three Embers is located in the Marriott hotel. It was a larger, open space room with tables well spread apart and comfortable seating. We sat at a nice cozy table by the window. It was perfect for the 2 of us. I can imagine the view being stunning during the other seasons, but being January my view was of snow and more snow amid branches. We were quickly greeted by our server, Anna, who was warm and welcoming. We had bread and butter (delicious), served water right away, and another staff member switched out our table light for a brighter one that was fully powered. Anna took our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. We started with the calamari which was delicious! It was perfectly fried with the calamari being nice and tender, complete with our favorite parts the tentacle ends, and well seasoned. Hubby ordered the porterhouse which as prepared spot on, medium rare! The fingerling potatoes were SO DELICIOUS!!! They were crispy, fluffy, tender, and such a good accompaniment to the steak! Honestly as a carb lover, I'd be happy with just a big plate of the crispy fingerling potatoes. The carrots were sweet and prepared just enough to be tender, but with a crunch. He appreciated that it wasn't boiled or steamed to death carrots. I ordered the Black and Bleu salad. It was a large portion salad, perfect for dinner without being heavy. The steak was prepared a medium rare and topped with delicate crispy fried onion strings. Everything in the salad worked so well together making it a nice cohesive entree. The really enjoyed the grilled corn in the salad! The dressing was a light dressing and had a hint of sweetness, but not overpowering the flavors. Unfortunately my steak was a bit on the fatty and gristly side so quite a bit had to be discarded. This was the downside to the salad. Overall, the meal exceeded our expectations and didn't fit into what some would think of as "hotel restaurant food." The prices are on the higher side, but for some of the conveniences and location, it was worth it. The service was wonderful! Anna was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and so sweet! We never felt rushed. She checked back after serving us each course to make sure everything was good and had perfect timing sensing when we needed our check to make the show. I can see why other Yelpers rave about having her as their server! I would certainly come back to Three Embers for dinner before a show. Parking was easy as we were there before the show, parked at the hotel and entered through the hotel. We walked from the restaurant to the theatre without ever having to step foot outside in the freezing single-digit temps.
