As someone who has had their fair share of Indian food spots in the city, I think that Chicago Curry House has made it on my go to list to order from! The food came hot and smelled fresh. For the food, we ordered- Butter Chicken (8/10): Was tasty and was not just chicken breast. It had a smoky flavor compared to other chicken dishes I've had from other Indian cuisine spots. There were just a couple bones. The sauce itself was tasty and we had a good amount of white rice to go with it! Garlic Naan (6/10): It had a good garlic flavor but it was a bit more doughy compared to other places and wasn't my favorite. And finally, for the star- the veggie Samosa. YUM! The samosas were perfectly crunchy and NOT oily! It had a tasty well balanced flavor with the green chutney. And the sauce has a slight spicy kick to it. I will definitely be thinking about these samosas from here on out! read more

Had a work lunch order through Fooda for Chicago Curry House. It's funny because I lived 2 blocks away from this spot for two years and never went, but it always smelled great from outside. I ordered the Chicken Makhani which came with a side of rice. The dish had a great spiced curry flavor to it without a ton of spicy heat to it, so pretty mild while still very flavorful. The chicken was also tender and seemed to be seasoned in a tandoori style. Very good portion size and was perfect on a cold Chicago day. The packing was great - the curry came in a plastic contain but with added plastic wrap around it to prevent from any spills/seeping coming from it. Definitely give Chicago Curry House a try - I will be ordering again later and want to kick up the spice meter another notch! read more

This is my second time coming to this place and it was just as delicious as the first time. All you can eat weekend lunch buffet for only 20$ per person. The quality is excellent, the manager is very friendly and helpful, and it's always super clean. They play a lot of electronica music over the speakers which I enjoy. Some highlights- The tandoori chicken 1000/10 some of the best bbq chicken I've had in my entire life. It's worth coming back just for this. It's so juicy and flavorful, I could eat a whole plate of just this. The chilli chicken 10/10 its super spicy and the texture is lovely, definitely a highlight. The naan are absolutely perfect. The butter chicken is rich and warm. The vegetable pakora are crispy and perfectly seasoned. Even the goat curry was excellent and I didn't think I would like goat! We usually order from their sister restaurant Nepal House, but we've dined a few times at Curry House. I think the food is actually better from the Curry House kitchen, but both are really good. It was nice day so we decided to walk over and try their newly reopened lunch buffet. We thought it was a tremendous value (the cost of one entree at dinner basically) and plenty to choose from. There were a few things I wish they had, but it looks like every day is a bit different as I saw signs for other dishes set on the side for use later/another day. Naan you ask for from the servers who were super attentive and friendly. Everything else is self serve. The butter chicken, tandoori chicken and veggie curries were excellent. Plenty of vegetarian choices as well. I'm not sure why others are surprised prices are up from pre pandemic as food costs are way up everywhere. Basmati rice and naan. All were good but I am not a regular south Asian foodie. The Khasi ko Maasu was bone in goat. The curry was reminded me of a Japanese curry. Very good flavor and the goat was tender off the bone. The naan was excellent but slightly over burnt but too badly burnt. The tables were set well with well pressed whit table cloths creating a upscale atmosphere despite the relaxed ambiance. The restaurant appears to be doing a good takeout business. An old fashion was ordered but instead of an orange it had a twist of lemon. A mango lassi (Yogurt) drink was sweet, smooth and mangoey . My only complaint was the cost of the food. For our three entrees and 1 mixed drink and a mango lassi drink totaled $90. I read in some reviews that a weekend lunch buffet is now offered. read more

While not serving huge portions like a lot of restaurants in the city, the food was quite filling and flavorful to the max. Dishes ordered included: vegetable samosa (2 in a serving with two delicious sauces, a little kick but so very tasty and flaky); Khassi ko massu (best dish!); Lamb curry, basmati rice, and garlic naan. 10/10 will go back again and again. I've been coming here for years and the food and service is always great. Today I visited alone and it was probably the best experience I've ever had here. I ordered the lamb samosas which were sooooo good and the perfect temperature. I also ordered the Aloo Mutter which was pretty good and had the perfect temperature. The owner paid a visit to my table several times offering me free items from tea to naan, wine, and desserts. Unfortunately I had to turn them down because of food allergies I have, but it was such a kind gesture. The atmosphere is always nice and peaceful. The owner mentioned that he has been in business for 17 years which is cool to hear. This place was pretty close to my hotel when I was staying at the Chicago Hilton (within walking distance). I tried a few Indian classics, such as the chana masala, the naan, and the mango lassi. The people here are quite friendly and serve the food with relatively nice speed. The Nepali items, like the momos, will likely come out first, as they did with our party. The person who had the momos said they were very good. My meal was also quite good. I'd say the chana masala is a bit too spicy for me. They didn't ask for spice level. However, it was still very enjoyable. Nice portion and reasonable price. The naan was soft and just overall very good. Everyone enjoyed it and they brought out some extra naan for free. The mango lassi also had a great portion and was very fresh, creamy, and delicious. Would definitely recommend. The atmosphere is simple and not extravagant. We went at 9 pm or so, and there was essentially no one else in the restaurant at that time. Simple spot with good food, and one I'd definitely consider going back to (for both Indian and Nepali classics). read more

Solid spot! My rating is closer to 3.5 rather than 3. They easily accommodated our walk-in group of 6 which was a huge plus. Many of the Indian spots in the downtown area don't include rice with the entree so it was convenient that they did. Price point is a bit higher than what you expect especially when you get rice, vegetables, and chick peas. If you're looking for Indian food in the area I prefer the food at Himalayan Restaurant also in the South Loop. I would come back here, but not go out of my way. read more

My favorite Indian buffet in Chi since pre-pandemic. Excellent price for the variety you get, fresh naan, papadam, lamb, chicken, etc. They refill the food in small batches to keep it fresh. The food here is delicious and they were kind enough to accommodate a large group with a long-table reservation. Every single curry tasted fabulous. Chaat was good too. I enjoyed everything about my experience here except one thing, which I wanted to relay so future customers are aware. If you have a big group, they offer to bring naan to the table. They didn't ask about it, but just said they'd bring it. Two huge baskets of naan appeared. (It was delicious!) When the bill came, 3 orders each of garlic and regular naan were on the bill. That's pretty costly, and we had tons left over, so we really didn't need that much. And nobody ordered naan. The restaurant might have assumed that this was a big corporate event, and everyone's spending lavishly on the company card. But that's not the case: it was just a reunion of friends and we were all paying for our own food. So we might have wanted less bread, or maybe no bread at all since all the curries come with rice. Neither the Chicken Momo nor the Chicken Chow Mein were mild, and the Momo was so over-spiced it was inedible. Luckily, the pain didn't last long. The Chicken chow mein was spicey to the point where no single aroma stood out to make it flavorful. It was garnished with an overabundance of cilantro which I can't stand. I love it here! Warm, comfortable space and the food is tasty :D We had the Masala Chai, fried vegetable momos (good flavor & lil kick) and Malai Kofta (decadent, spice-ful) and garlic naan (moist but crispy edges, nice and garlic-y). I tried a Nepali restaurant for the first time! The flavors were very different from a typical Indian restaurant, but I'm sure Nepalis love that. I'm not very fond of the Nepali flavor in dal especially! I got one veg momos, one chicken momos, a dal makhni (which came with rice) and a butter garlic naan. The service was incredible! They don't have dine-in currently due to Covid so I picked up my food to-go and ate on a bench outside. They were so kind to pack us extra utensils and plates. They also got us some hot sauce to make our food extra spicy - love that! The wait wasn't too long, about 20-25 mins and I was able to able to check-in on Yelp to get that extra 10% off my food! Yay. I was not able to eat in to experience the food but was able to use Uber eats. I ordered garlic naan, butter chicken and chicken tiki masala. They wrapped all containers in clear wrap to keep each item warm and spill-proof. We opened every item and they were still pretty hot. The chicken were in medium to large pieces for the butter chicken and cubed for the masala - overall, the chicken was moist and the respected sauces are good and tasty. I was able to enjoy them without those being too overly spiced. I would buy from here again and next time I will be in the restaurant. read more
