I'm a sucker for an intimate setting for a meal, so this place immediately appealed to me. It's in an old home that has been converted into a restaurant with a beautiful tree out front and artificial turf. Reservations are mandatory-don't expect to walk in and get a table. You'll also need to anticipate a tight squeeze and potentially awkward placement of tables and chairs. Service is fast. Not like they-bring-your-food-out fast but you'd better know what you want, don't ask for modifications and be happy with what you get because they aren't going to spend a ton of time checking back with you fast. It's a small staff and they stay busy. Our server's personality teetered on the edge of Italian uncle who is happy to see you, but needs to hurry it along and the soup nazi that doesn't have time to listen to you gripe and will just bring you something he thinks you'll enjoy. The food is pretty good-definitely home cooked with recipes that have likely been passed down from generation to generation. They don't do trendy stuff, but stick with the tried-and-true. Chicago Joe's is definitely vintage Vegas! This adorable brick house downtown from the 1930s is the perfect vibe for a vintage Vegas old-school feel. Our server was great, great sense of humor, and very attentive. This family run business has been serving Southern Italian dishes made from recipes passed down from the owner's grandma since 1975. Make sure to sit in the back of the house. If you would like a cooler area the front of the house seems to get much warmer in the Vegas summer. I personally enjoyed the muscles. They came with a red sauce and some pasta underneath. The veal Parmesan is good and plentiful but the chicken Parmesan was an even larger dish. read more

I've gone to Vegas plenty of times and looked past Chicago Joe's so many times when searching Italian food and finally decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The atmosphere is cozy and feels like one of those local spots that's been around forever. Actually, it has! Something like 46 years in business. The food came out hot, the portions were generous, and everything tasted homemade. The pasta was rich without being overly heavy, and the garlic bread disappeared way too fast. My partner and I came hungry so in a matter of minutes all the food was gone. Even the waiter was surprised. We had built an appetite for dinner for sure. Parking is limited and so is space, so make sure to make reservations ahead of time. This will save you a headache if you arrive and no availability. If you love Italian, this place won't disappoint. The place is so cute, small but still comfortable. It's important to know that you must have a reservation. The food was delicious. We started with the Artichoke appetizer which was in a very good sauce. They served a bread basket for the table as we waited for our order. The bread was so soft!! Our orders were Eggplant Parmegiana, Lasagna, Chicken Piccata, and Chicken Alfredo. All served with soup or salad. 3 of the meals (except the Lasagna) were served with a side of Rigatoni. Everything was delicious; we were all pleased with our dishes. Our server was very attentive and provided a complimentary Tiramasu for our Anniversary, which was the best I've ever had. Party of 5 on a Tuesday night for my birthday. Made a reservation here on Yelp. Arrived a few mins late but not an issue. Welcomed and seated promptly. The service was great. The Food is amazing. We offered 4 dishes and an appetizer. We were happy with everything and we will be back when in town. Don't hesitate to go off the strip for real authentic Italian that will knock your socks off. This is one of our favorite restaurants and by far the best lasagna in the city. We love coming here. The waiters are great and have been here for a very long time. It's a very small restaurant that used to be a house that was built in the 40's. It's pretty tight but very comfortable and cozy and charming. Blink and you would miss it. The Italian restaurant is located inside on old house turned restaurant in downtown Las Vegas. Seating is limited so I would recommend a reservation. All entrees come with soup or salad. I had the soup which was ok. My spouse had the salad with creamy garlic dressing. The dressing is made in house. It was delicious. For my meal I had the ravioli. I love to find restaurants off the beaten path and stumbled onto Chicago Joe's. Lucky me! Walking in it's got a great feel and vibe. A little on the darker side (loved it) and friendly. My waiter was the bald waiter from Boston (I don't recall his name) and other than having bad taste in sports teams, he was an impeccable waiter! Great friendly banter and very knowledgeable about food! Finally my meal! The bread was hot & fresh, olive oil & balsamic perfect as well as my house salad. Finally the cioppino came! Whoohoo! Date night with my hunny at Chicago Joe's was a great experience. Joe was our waiter and he was wonderful. I couldn't decide what I wanted and said to surprise me and he brought me half and half which was so awesome, I ended up loving both, either would have been a great choice! I went here recently before I went back to California because it's one of my FAVORITES it's something tourists don't quite know about and more of a local spot because it's a bit off the strip more so in the downtown area, yet still VERY nice!!! This restaurant a lot of history to it and I believe the city of Las Vegas just acknowledged their 50th anniversary of it being open this year of 2025! Now that's cool! I absolutely love love love their pasta, appetizers, CHEESECAKE, and basically everything on the dang menu is beyond. For me personally, I love getting their cheese stuffed raviolis in their creamy Alfredo sauce with shrimp added. Absolutely divine. Also if you're a cheesecake fan, it is a MUST have to get a slice before you leave! Perfection with a fresh strawberry puree sauce drizzled all over it. The service is absolutely wonderful our server was so sweet and told us he had been working there a very long time and had a sense of humor to him. That's what I love about old school Vegas restaurants is the service is just beyond wonderful every time and they sure as hell know what they're doing and are damn good at it!!! He was the best, I wish I could have gotten his name to give him a shout out! The vibe for this restaurant is very much a dark, quiet to average, classy, upscale, and a very intimate type of restaurant. I think this would be a perfect place for date nights, however I went with a few girls this last time and we had just as much fun. Let me start by saying I'm closer to like 3.5 stars, but please hear me out. Heard lots of great things about this place. We were seeing a show nearby so figured why not come by and try it out. When they say it's a small place, oh it's no joke as chairs are touching. With that said, they make it work. If you want to eat here, make a reservation just to cover yourself. We ordered the fettuccini Alfredo and chicken parm dinners. Fettuccini was pretty good but just lacked some flavor, however a really good portion size. The chicken parm had 2 large pieces of chicken and a smaller side of penne pasta(guess that's the default if you don't specific). The red sauce at Joe's is pretty sweet compared to other places we have been. Not saying it was bad, but different and just preparing you. In addition the chicken parm isn't breaded like normal chicken parm. It has all the breading on top mixed with the sauce and cheese, but the bottom isn't breaded. Definitely wasn't expecting that. With all that said service was really good, things came out fairly quick and all was accurate. Not complaints there! I think overall this was a one and done for us. But please don't let anything above discourage you from trying them out! Everyone has a different expectation on taste and their type of Italian food. read more

The parking is very limited in back with only 6 parking spots. There is a dispensary behind it so not sure you can park there. We were meeting some retired Army friends for a little get together. So let me start off by saying that this place is a hidden little gem when it comes to Vegas...you can tell it is a local's place! The ambience states warmth, quaint, family!! I felt like I was nestled by the fireplace of a cozy cottage!! The service....EXCELLENT!! Our waiter was wonderful!! He expedited our orders in perfect timing, giving us time to enjoy our appetizers, then salad, then entrees. Now for the food!! We had mussels, steamed clams and mushroom escargot! Everything was delicious! The only thing I could give a score that wasn't a 10 out of 10 was that the mushroom caps were raw...but the taste was perfection!! Might I suggest to the chef to cook the mushrooms a little before assembling the dish to cook...and let me stress on this...THE DISH STILL TASTED AMAZING!! Next week got our salads... We were given a choice of either vinaigrette or a creamy garlic dressing... I had the vinaigrette which was good... My husband had the creamy garlic dressing... Now that's something to slap your grandma over!!! I'm so upset that I did not get the creamy garlic dressing... My husband let me have a bite to try it... Then I stole three more bites. It was so good... Definitely getting that one next time!! Our entrees were superb! I had the pasta with white clam sauce...they let me have the choice of angel hair pasta with it...sooooo gooood!! My husband and one of our other friends had the lasagna... oh my God!! my husband let me taste that lasagna... Probably the best lasagna I've ever had... And I eat a lot of lasagna and make it as well... So so good! Another friend had the seafood platter (forgive me. I don't know the actual name of it... But it was one of their specials I do believe.) it looked incredible!!! And then our friend who took us there had the spaghetti and meatballs, which also looked delicious and he said it was very, very good!! We're in Vegas at least once a year at this time for a Dart tournament that we play in... This is now going to be our first night meal whenever we come here... I wish I could compliment the desserts because I'm sure that they were amazing as well but we were so full that we couldn't even think of dessert! I give this place seven out of five stars... You start with a nice side salad and bread, we also ordered garlic cheese bread which was delicious! The special was really good, could have been a bit more heat hot but it was good. The chicken parmigiana wasn't the best I've had. I think the pasta and sauce should have been mixed together instead of the sauce on top of the noodles.
