PK Oyster Bar is located in the old New Orleans Square. It's a bit off the beaten path, but there's plenty of convenient parking. We decided to try it for two reasons: we wanted to avoid the long wait at Palace Station Oyster Bar, and our 14-year-old was excited to try pan roast for the first time and loves raw oysters. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only one couple seated by the window. We didn't let that discourage us from giving it a try. The restaurant appeared to be a true mom-and-pop operation, staffed by one cook, one kitchen helper, and a waitress who also greeted and seated guests. The waitress was friendly, attentive, and provided prompt service. We were quickly seated, given water, and handed menus. The décor is simple and unpretentious, creating a casual neighborhood feel. We ordered two Seafood Combo Pan Roasts, Linguine with Clams, a half dozen raw oysters, and an extra order of rice to soak up the pan roast sauce. The Seafood Pan Roast was disappointing. Instead of the rich, seafood creamy savory that makes this dish so satisfying, it leaned heavily on tomato sauce. The consistency was quite soupy, with only small pieces of seafood scattered throughout. The Linguine with Clams had a strong briny flavor but lacked the garlic, butter, and savory seasoning we were expecting. There was also very little clam meat, making the dish feel underwhelming. Overall, the service was warm and welcoming, but unfortunately the food didn't quite live up to our expectations. Based on the many positive reviews, I have a feeling we may have visited on an off day. So we initially came to this spot because the word is, a chef from the oyster bar at palace station started his own restaurant. Ordered the oysters for happy hour, delicious. Peel & Eat shrimp was not the business. Looked more like a soup with frozen (already peeled) shrimp. A bit disappointing, confirmed with the server that it was actually what they served as 'peel and eat' shrimp. Now coming from the 'oyster bar' at another station casino (which the known owner previously worked at). It was a bit of a disappointing sight to see. I love Pan Roast and I love the Oyster Bar in Palace station but there was no way that place would work for our party of 11. The restaurant décor was pretty cute and I was surprised this place wasn't packed. Our server was Alex and he really attentive and explained all the questions about the menu. Our table ordered Gumbo, Pan Roast, Jambalaya and I seen that they had a Bouillabaisse-Pan Roast (which is one of the most popular items). I ordered my younger kids the fried shrimp & fried calamari basket with fries. The food came out pretty quick. Bouillabaisse-Pan Roast was a level 5. It wasn't too hot and there was a lot of flavors. The oysters were juicy and didn't have a fishy smell. The Caesar salad was a great portion size, if you add meat it would definitely be enough as a dinner portion. The pan roast was also a huge portion and had plenty of seafood that made for great leftovers, ordered a spice level 6 and it was perfect. This location is off of the strip, which is a good thing to avoid expensive property prices. This location looks very obscure from the outside and was very intimidating to walk in. Unfortunately, they weren't ready when we first tried to order them. Our waitress let us know that someone had gone out to get more, but she wasn't sure how long it would take. I really appreciated the upfront honesty, so we were able to overlook it. For food, we ordered a few appetizers, fries, New England clam chowder, and shared the chicken and sausage gumbo. My husband and I were told about it this restaurant by a local and decided to give it a go. The area looks kind of sketchy but the restaurant was cozy. We came in for brunch and ordered the seafood gumbo, clams in a white sauce and 6 raw oysters to share. This place did not disappoint. I much prefer the sourdough bread at Tides oyster bar. Service: we ate early so literally no one else was there and we received very attentive service. People always talk about the pan roast from Oyster Bar at Palace Station in Las Vegas; however, I tend to not want to wait two hours for the dish. PK Oyster Bar in Las Vegas is run by a former chef at the Palace Station Oyster Bar and they make a pretty comparable pan roast for a fraction of the wait. I enjoyed it so much, I came by twice in my last trip to Vegas. I do like some spice and, being conservative, I went "medium spicy". I felt that I could have been okay if I upgraded my spice level. The only drawback is that it's outside of the strip off Sahara Ave and the shopping mall isn't in the nicest location. You can take your order to go and they pack it pretty nicely. As I left a woman walked out with me on our way to the lot and I was bragging on the food. She suggested I try the Voodoo Pasta next time. I told her I'm not a pasta fan, but she swore by it. I also love that there isn't a crowd or a lot of people bc it's a hidden gem tucked away with restaurants diverse and ethnic selection of restaurants all in this strip mall. Ritters in So Cal was my go to for Pan Roast but now they are all no longer around. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and had a nice vibe overall. You can tell they take pride in their space and their service. While not a full 5 stars just because of some personal preference on the pan roast, this place is definitely worth a visit. I had to try the clam chowder and it was great. Lots of potatoes but I did enjoy every bite. The PK combo pan roast was 5 by itself. Lots of shrimp, crab, lobster, chicken and andouille sausage. So why the 2 stars? Well let me tell ya the pros first - food is 5 stars! Super flavorful, we tried the pan roasts (10/10) - so much seafood & so much flavor, jambalaya pasta (8/10) - lots of seafood, chowder (7/10) - good but like not the best chowder I've ever had, and fried oysters (9/10) - can't really mess this up. Lots of room & no wait time to be seated. 1/5 stars for the cons - the server we had, she wasn't really able to answer all of our questions. We had asked to be seated at a bigger booth - but she said no because she'd have to set the table, which was a red flag to us. So we just sat at the cramped smaller table that was already set up. The server took our order - we ordered the fried oysters, then my husband & friend ordered their pan roasts first, then like 10 min later I ordered my jambalaya & our other friend who came later ordered the chowder. Our free bread rolls came out, then the oysters came out, then my friend got his chowder (mind you, he was the last to order). Then I got my jambalaya pasta. A whole 30 min passed, not once did the server check in on us, my husband had to flag her down to ask where the pan roasts were...bc it had been a whole hour since him & my friend ordered - the server went to the kitchen to check & it turns out the kitchen missed our pan roast order and the kitchen was making their lunch. We noted a distinct difference in the flavor from those previously enjoyed at Palace Station, but theirs were quite good as was the service provided by Gregory. I found out about this place through a YouTuber named Vegas With Shin whom was accompanied with Norma Geli. My wife and I decided to try this place out tonight to see what the hype was (if any) was all about. We didn't order the same dishes they did nor did we order the same amount of dishes. Gave it to my wife as she was willing eat the rest. Mentioned to server when asked how the food was so far and no apology was given...well, alrighty, then. I decided to try the Chicken And Sausage Gumbo. First thoughts were I got assaulted with what seemed like a ton of salt. Good thing there was rice! The flavor was ok and it was savory. It reminded me of eating chili but with a somewhat seemingly soupier consistency to it. There was a small handful of what I call chicken kibble thrown in sparingly along with some thinly sliced pieces of sausage. The okra was fine and I enjoyed their texture....the chicken didn't really add any real value in the way of flavor or importance other than it was there waiting to be eaten. The sausage is what really helped flavor this dish IMO. The service overall was fine. I did chuckle when we first went in and was asked if we had a reservation (we didn't)...looked around and only 3 out of maybe 20-25 tables were being occupied.
