"Read" is a power word these days with how reliant on AI and lazy the world has gotten. Get out and live! Anyhow.... I had ordered a Stromboli the first time I tried it and was kind of turned off with the price. I walk in the door and these were some of the friendliest people I've ever met. Unlike Sabaro, the Stromboli is fresh-made here. When I walked in, I was told it was almost up. In the time waiting, one of the owners brought out a fresh supreme pizza and offered everyone sitting down a piece. Little to say...it was one of the better pieces I've tried from around the country and definitely on par with what is offered in NY. For the Stromboli, this thing was huge and delicious. I fed 5 people with this $16 dish. The second time around I tried a small "Johnny's Special" pizza which came with 2 pieces sausage, 2 pieces buffalo, 2 pieces cheese, and 2 pieces hot honey and pepperoni. Usually I wolf things down like a dog, but for this.... I slowed down and savored each delicious piece. Awesome top flavor and perfect thin and crispy crust on the bottom. They also offer many other things including apps and desserts (cannoli/gelato). I will be back. I kindly ask that you save me a place when they open the outdoor patio space they are building. I hate giving reviews like this because I want to be greedy and keep all this goodness a secret. PS. Their shop has an awesome view of the mountains. I went for lunch, which got busy toward 1130. I got a 10" meat lover's and figured it would be easy. Well, it was delicious, but they went so heavy on the (fantastic!) toppings that I couldn't finish it (and I'm a big eater, with the BMI to prove it). Great sauce, great crust (good rise, good chew, good blister), reasonable wait. Reasonable pricing turns out to be a real value price once you factor in the delicious taste and the fantastic quality. Folks, I've only been here once, but based on this visit, Johnny's might be my favorite pizza in town now. My friend got the value-priced lunch special combo and had them give him a chicken parm (solid) and green chile wings along with his drink. He was quite happy (we remarked about how it's amazing that folks from out of town can come in and create a green chile dish like this that genuinely pleases the old hands), but told me that he'd probably split the sandwich with his wife were he to do this combo again. And the whole time the owner kept checking on us (and everyone else) and offering pleasant conversation. Wow - what a treat! I am planning to return soon (even though we almost couldn't live further away and still be in Albuquerque), and this time I'll bring my wife. I noticed quite a few five star reviews for this joint on Yelp. This place is supposed to make the genuine NYC pizza with thin crust. I ordered 2 cannolis ($11) and an 18" Deluxe pizza ($25.25) with pepperoni, ground beef, mushrooms, sausage, onions, and black olives. When I arrived, David Wheelock, at the cash register, told me they had just removed my pizza. He handed me the box and said he had to go in the back to make the cannolis. I'm not sure if they really make them there or not, but they had lot of cream filling and weren't too sweet. The pizza had a lovely, crispy crust and a ton of toppings. I wish this place was closer. By the time I got home with the pie it wasn't hot anymore. Just warm. A very good representation of NY style pizza.

The flavor was nice and one of the better pizzas I've had in a while. The crust is very delicious and has such a nice texture and mouth feel. I wish the pizza was saucier but that's just for my personal liking. The pizza was perfect. Now onto the wings. Even though the flavor was delicious they were incredibly small. Just a tad bigger than a nugget and that's just way too small. Service at pickup was neither friendly or rude - just transactional. Overall the pizza was good enough to order it again.

The place is quite spacious and ready to hold a good crowd especially for those evenings with live music. The patio is nice for cool days. If you like sports, there's enough screens to keep you cheering for your favorite team. The servers are usually friendly and quite busy, trying to keep up on busy days. At times they can take a long time to take orders, but no place is perfect. Either way, they always have a smile and welcoming vibes. They have a broad selection of local draft beer and a few ciders as well as some pre-made cocktails. The beer and cider are a hit or miss, as sometimes they can come out flat. The pizza and calzones is usually excellent and big. One slice would be enough, but a big party can enjoy a large pie and everyone would be satisfied. This time I got the mammal with hot honey and my hubs got the honey roni with green chile. To start we got a small order of knots. The knots this time were huge but a bit bland in flavor. The additions we requested, made each slice even better! The mammal is a meat lovers dream with sausage, pepperoni , ham, and little pieces of bacon. The hot honey made everything pop! The honey roni has pepperoni, creamy ricotta, and hot honey. The green chile gave it an extra kick. Needless to say that we will keep coming for our comfort big pizza slices.
