Beans were fine as was the elote (although watery at the bottom, perhaps due to frozen corn being used); while the mac and cheese was mushy. Ordered chocolate cake and pecan pie to go, since they were advertised as made onsite. However they disappointed - the cake was so-so, dry and not very chocolatey, while the pecan pie, although thankfully not too sweet, had a funny, kerosene-flavored crust! Couldn't finish either - threw them away, sadly, after paying quite a bit. The meal (with to-gos) and a decent tip cost $51 - rather high for the quantity and quality on offer. The other two meals were roughly $40 a piece. Overall, food was ok - have had better; service and atmosphere, great!

It's located in the former East End Backyard location, and they revamped the place by enclosing the front part, adding AC, a deck, and container building. When you first walk in (coming in from Sampson), you can hang a right for the bar or go left to enter the barbecue area. (You can still order drinks from the barbecue counter). I heard about East End Barbecue from my gf who dined there with her boyfriend. They got The Works plate ($32)--brisket, ribs, pulled pork, sausage, beans, potato salad--and she insisted two adults could eat a filling meal from it. So that's what my beau ordered and had plenty leftovers to take home. As a non-red meat eater, I was pleased that they have turkey, chicken, and smoked wings on the menu. I ordered the wings--pastor and Eastbound gold. This'll be my new go-to spot for wings because it's hard to find non-fried wings. They kept all the patio areas in the front and back, the dog park, jumbotron screen... love the thoughtful touches of hand sani stations, water, fly fans, and dog poo bags... The dining room isn't very large so managing your arrival is important if you want a table. I purchased three meats and two sides and two chopped beef sandwiches to cover my group. The brisket is a solid 5/5, original sausage 4/5, pork ribs 5/5 and the chopped beef sandwiches were a perfect 5/5. The flavors and tenderness were outstanding! They have the largest list of side option I've ever seen at a BBQ restaurant. There were at least a dozen listed to choose from making decisions difficult. It's hard to imagine that even better smoked meat exists in other establishments but I'll continue to search. However, Pinkerton's is now my base expectation for great BBQ.
