I love this chain with all my heart. I've hunted down the California location and the New York location in sweltering heat. Finally I have arrived to Boston's, I came here for the soft opening date. After two-Ish long years of promotion and advertising, Chicha San Chen has finally opened. I drank their High Mountain Pouchong tea that tasted sweet and fresh and it'll always be my unique pick me up. When you enter you see an assembly line of clean pressed shirts, working their arms around cups and metal spoon mixers. The workers not only act the part they dress the part every hour or so they will host a free tea tasting that you will have to RSVP. And what I love most about this place is that a differentiates from your average sugary Boba spot. Chicha prioritizes, natural tea leaves, and good quality drinks for their customers and markets that better than any Boba tea shop I've come across. Highly recommend this place, my only wish is that I wish this place had opened sooner. read more

Came back here again after half a year. Definitely it's not as popular as before. No line like before. I got the passion fruit green tea this time as it's popular. Still I don't see why it's popular. The tea flavor is mild and passion fruit flavor is mild. With grass jelly, it's $9.36. I don't think it's worth it. read more

So excited that a Chicha location opened near me! The boba is just the right amount of chewiness, and balances well with the milk tea. My bubble milk tea was deliciously creamy and not too sweet. Had to wait in a line since this location recently opened, but hopefully wait times improve. The store is crowded, so not an ideal place to work or study but is good for hanging out with friends. read more

Relatively new in Boston from Taiwan. Had them in Singapore so was pleasantly surprised it's here in Boston. Grand opening was last week so expect lines especially over the weekends for a while. Brashly brewed tea for every cup so the flavor was excellent. I had the cassia black tea with mousse and taro balls. Did not disappoint! read more

I was very excited to know that Chicha San Chen would be coming to Boston. The teas are fragrant and sweet. I am very pleased with this experience. However, it is a little pricy--all the cups are one size. You are definitely paying for premium ingredients. The interior is nice and roomy. Despite the store just opening, the wait wasn't too long. The milk tea is so yummy! Nice and creamy and the "perfect" sweetness was just right. Went around 6PM on a Sunday after grand opening, and they were out of boba which was slightly disappointing but the grass jelly is still good. The pouchong tea has a nice aroma as well. read more

I came a few days after their grand opening and there was still a pretty long line outside, but I was still able to get in pretty fast. They're very efficient, you order from a kiosk and then wait for your boba, during which there's also a tea brewing area where you can sample their freshly brewed tea! I've been waiting for Chicha San Chen to open in Boston for almost a year now--and it was totally worth the wait! After having tried (and loved) their teas multiple times in Singapore, Toronto, and New York, I'm thrilled to say that this location is just as fantastic as the others. The quality and taste are exactly on par, with the same aromatic teas and loving ambiance and service that's provided by the staff. Simply unparalleled. Boston is truly lucky to have this gem, and I'm beyond excited to have easy access to one of my favorite tea spots. Can't wait to keep coming back! I first tried CHICHA San Chen in San Gabriel, CA. Waited over 30 minutes for my drink and it was soooo worth THUS I've been SOOOO hyped for this MA location to open and now it's here and so so tasty. I went today! The employees are so friendly and welcoming! Not too big but not too small inside. Tea demo is cool. There is a variety of drinks. You can build your own- choose tea, flavor and topping. Or you can choose from the Popular drinks that already have a set tea/flavor/topping. I got the Dong Ding Oolong Tea Latte and the Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea. Both are refreshing! Boba texture is just right. Good balance between milk and tea. Less sugar is perfect too. Incredible tea quality--super fragrant and well-made. Pretty good boba. Really great sugar levels--if you think your boba is always too sweet, you are going to love this place. I got the less sugar option and it was perfect. I went in around noon on a Saturday and there actually wasn't too much of a wait! The packing is really cute although a bit over the top. Also incredibly pricey for the amount of tea you get. read more

I got shrimp steam rolls, Chinese donuts, ovaltine French toast, ice coffee, hot soy milk and cold soy milk. The fried chicken bolo was interesting. She told me it was the most popular item on the menu. I personally don't understand why. It is fried chicken with a slaw and on a bun with some sort of crumble on top. I was not impressed. The Chinese donuts were cold and old tasting; I was super disappointed. The shrimp steam rolls were very delicious! The ovaltine French toast is sweet. It has ovaltine powder on it and it's covered with sweetened condensed milk. It is tasty, sweet and a bit messy to eat but I enjoyed it. Iced coffee was strong. Iced soy milk is preferred over hot soy milk but that is just personal preference and it was over 90 degrees outside. It is a small cafe with limited seating at the window. The menu is on the wall. You order and when it's done they call your number. It is NOT ADA friendly. You have to climb stairs to get in. It was quite difficult for me as I was using my cane. This was my first Hong Kong style fast food cafe created by Chopped Champion and James Beard semifinalist Chef Laurence Louie and Rary Ratsifa. After going to another Hong Kong cafe nearby, and having something to compare this to, I would not return to this establishment as I think there are better Hong Style cafes with better food and ADA friendliness establishments.

Chicha San Chen is a highly favored boba spot, and I have a lot of friends who really enjoy it. While I can see why people like it, it didn't fully match my personal taste. The selection of teas is nice and offers a good variety, but even with less sweetness, I still felt that the drinks were too sweet and the tea flavor got lost. I tried the Bubble Volcano Milk Tea and the Classic Fruit Tea. The milk tea suited my taste better and had a nice creamy texture. The fruit tea was just okay for me, but I understand why many people enjoy it. I got here 30 mins before opening (on opening day), and waited in line for 2 hrs. However, it was very much worth the wait. While waiting, a server came out and distributed small samples of their bubble tea base. It kept me excited for the actual thing. It smells really good inside, and there is plenty of seating. I've been waiting in line for 2 hours, and it was really worth the wait. Someone gave us samples and it was black tea. The black tea was so refreshing yet it also had that tea taste at the same time. I was so excited for the milk tea. They are also professional as they put excellent effort and craftsmanship into their tea.
