High quality boba shop that really stands out from the usual spots. The tea tastes fresh and well brewed, and you can tell they pay attention to the details with texture and flavor. Drinks feel more refined than your typical milk tea place. Only wish the cup sizes were a bit bigger because I finish them way too fast. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area.

I was surprised to see Chicha San Chen in Boston! I used to buy Taiwanese milk tea there all the time in Hong Kong. Bubble Volcano熔岩波霸黑糖鮮奶: It didn't taste as good as the Hong Kong version. The milk flavor was very weak, the brown sugar didn't cling to the cup and tasted artificially sweet, the texture was very watery, and the boba was just regular. Even though I ordered less ice, there was still a lot of ice. I have absolutely no idea why it's so popular...

Solid spot for bubble tea for those of you who are big fans of tea. The tea is good and they have a large amount of variety. They also host tea tasting events if youre interested in that! If you're looking to get work done, there's also some spots for seating on the side as well as one large main table. The main drawback for me is that this place is pricier than some other alternative spots. Overall, would recommend!

Place is cute, everyone is friendly. I think this is top 3 spot to get boba in Boston.

I loved this! The perfect amount of sweetness and a fresh mango flavor in the mango oolong tea. You place your order on tablets in front and it was ready after about 10 minutes. The inside was very clean and quiet, and on the street so you can people watch from the tables inside. Great location and drinks!

Stop by for oolong tea with jelly grass and brown sugar before the Redsox game. The place was very busy and time wait for tea tasting was kinda long. It was pretty easy to order our tea on one of their machine and they also offered sample. The tea were pretty expensive but the it tasted pretty good. The worker seemed pretty friendly and the tea shop bright and clean.

Super nicely decorated tea spot! -mango tea: this was nice but the tea taste was barely there. I mainly tasted just mango juice, it was refreshing though. -ding milk tea with taro boba: the taro boba is the star here, tea again was not super strong very milky. I had high expectations seeing how they brew their tea like espresso but was a bit disappointed.

Black tea with Bubble. And yes at Hynes green line.

Service and Ambiance: feel like when I walk in there, its as pristine as the renovated restaurant in The Bear. Top notch, they do not mess around, clean and bright, and present your drink like they just made God's gift to you. This tea is hands down the best black boba tea in Boston. I mean you'll certainly pay for it, but worth it. The black tea is high quality, perfectly brewed, and boba are fresh

Really great find! This boba shop was extremely busy on Saturday night, which makes sense given the location right along Mass Ave and Newbury St. The interior is clean, modern, and bright, though there aren't enough seats (or even standing room) for the number of customers! I ordered two drinks off their popular items section, the dong ding oolong tea (light sugar, less ice) with boba and the bubble volcano (less ice). We both loved our respective drinks. The dong ding oolong was great for a tea-focused flavor, and "light sugar" was the perfect sweetness level. The boba was also the ideal texture for perfect chewiness, which isn't always true of boba shops! On the other hand, the bubble volcano will certainly appeal to someone who likes sweets. Both drinks were $8.25 before tax and tip. They came "dressed up" with straws in cute little holders that theoretically make the drinks easier to carry, but I found it difficult with two (since I was worried about the straws falling out). The staff seemed very professional and efficient. We'll definitely be back, and probably for the same exact drinks!

Still yummy, but after having visited a number of times I'm not as blown away by the tea and boba, and I personally have other favorites I prefer in Boston. Good for a solid quality tea flavor if you're downtown since the location is super convenient, and service is quick and helpful, but also other good options in the area.

Chicha San Chen is now in Boston! My first time trying was in Cupertino, and I expected the infamous 45 minute wait for one brew of tea --- but I guess we're impatient in the east coast because my order was ready in 5 minutes! Their teas are brewed to order using high-quality loose leaves, with standout options, this time around I got the Osmanthus Oolong lemon with konjac. Really good, but I should have gotten it with honey too to balance out the lemon. The shop is clean with plenty of natural light. Service is fast and friendly, though I ordered from a kiosk. It also looks like they have a tea tasting area which I plan to look into and try for myself. Easily accessible by green line.

The drink took a while to prepare but there was plenty of space to sit down and wait so it was okay. I got their popular milk tea and it was so delicious! I think their boba was also good, just a little more on the expensive side but definitely worth a try!

Rating: 4.4 Went to try the popular bubble tea shop recently opened in Boston to see if it was worth the hype. When we went it was rainy and the place was a bit difficult to find because the google map location was off and it was on the side of a newly constructed building complex. When we got there there were a-lot of people and was busy but they did have a lot of staffs to cover the load of customers. Inside was pretty small but had some table and chairs to sit and counter to place your orders. It was very busy but was able to quickly place an order through kiosk and they have a monitor to let you know when the order is ready which is very convenient. We ordered the Milk bubble tea and Dingdong oolong tea with boba, perfect sweetness and less ice. The bubble tea came with unique cupholder with string and straw that made it easy to carry the drink. Drink itself was pretty good as the tea was flavorful and not overwhelmingly sweet (with perfect sweetness option). Boba was nice and chewy and slightly sweet. I personally liked my Milk bubble tea better. The service was good and they were also offering tea making demonstration and tasting but the line was long so we decided to skip. Overall the place was pretty good. I would say it's definitely higher quality bubble tea shop than some I've been to. The Price is a bit on higher side considering the portion but I did enjoy it.

We tried the spectrum of hot matcha latte, iced matcha latte, hot hojicha latte, iced hojicha latte. We actually haven't experimented with asking for less ice or adjusting sweetness. It's not deadly sweet to a point that I can say for sure whether they add sweetener to the drinks. FYI they batch mix their matcha and hojicha solutions which I don't appreciate. Wish they whisked them per order. I think I like their hojicha latte more than matcha given the stronger flavor. It's also a bit sweeter. It bothers me slightly how hojicha latte is the same price as matcha latte given that hojicha is normally cheaper due to lower demand. The price itself is kind of steep at $8.75 whether for matcha or hojicha. You can get matcha latte for $6.50 at Blue Bottle instead or something (weak but matcha itself is alright). Between the two visits I also found the quality to be inconsistent. The second time tasted weaker and the latte art for the hot drinks was messier. I'm not saying latte art is a necessity for me, but if 1) you're charging that much, and 2) you attempt any latte art at all, I would hope for it to look nice. On a good day they deserve a 4*. On a bad day they deserve a 3*. I don't necessarily crave them so will put down 3*. Lines come and go. There's sufficient seating given that most people don't linger 5ever. The stadium seats are kind of cool and offer more spots.

I've come here a few times before and tried multiple items before: HK milk tea, Kashmiri chai,…read morewintermelon oolong, red date ginger tea, hojicha latte, and matcha latte. What brought me here originally is the HK milk tea. It's one of the few drinks on the menu that isn't presweetened. I think it's the best HK milk tea I've had at these modern cafes outside of Hong Kong. Their blend of tea leaves gives it a depth of flavor with a ton of umami and after taste. It's not rough on the tongue or bitter. Despite knowing they batch prepare the tea blends, I can't taste oxidation or overboiling here. I appreciate how they would use a shaker to mix the milk and tea base together when you're ordering it iced. You're not really chasing a gradient effect for HK milk tea, so I'm happy to receive a cup ready to drink. Iced doesn't taste diluted and the tea flavor still comes through despite muted iciness. Since they use whole milk instead of evaporated milk, it won't taste as heavy or harsh on the stomach as OG ones. I don't mind this substitute as the tea flavors are still robust enough to hold up the drink without the thicker dairy. This places deserves a 5* even just for their HK milk tea! Kashmiri Chai also stands out to me. It's the not the typical chai (i.e. Starbucks). It's a beautiful pink coral beige color. It tastes a bit savory and sweet and warm at the same time. All the flavors are subtle yet together make a flavorful drink. I get creamy buttery flavors. Wintermelon oolong and red date ginger tea are both very comforting options if it's cold outside or I feel under the weather. They're a bit sweet for my preference but I don't think I can adjust sweetness. Flavors are strong though. Hojicha latte is an off-menu item that I requested after seeing there was the powder behind the counter. I think they used to offer it but not sure why not anymore. Matcha latte isn't a strength there. I appreciate how they whisk each cup after you order it. It tastes a bit like cereal/grain. I wish it was stronger and more concentrated though. I appreciate how all their hot drinks are boiled on a pot on the stove rather than microwave or stored in a thermos which ends up making the drinks lukewarm. Also shout out to one of the owners from Hong Kong, Andy. He was here during one of my visits and as what other people have mentioned already, he's super friendly. He loves striking up conversations with his customers. He's happy to provide suggestions on restaurants, cafes, and bars around Boston. He travels a lot, so he's not always around, but say hi if you see him. He's also into arts, so the rotating art collection in the café is curated by him. We walked into a minimalist and calm space with enough personality to make it comfortable for a longer stay, the kind of room where the lighting and the seating encourage you to settle in rather than rush out. The dalgona coffee is one of the standout orders and delivered the creamy, slightly bitter contrast that makes the format work when it is done well. We had it with oat milk, which smoothed out the richness without losing the depth of the coffee underneath. The matcha was another high point, aromatic and grassy in a way that reflects quality sourcing, and notably not overly sweet. The hojicha with hojicha foam was on rotation during our visit, layered and smooth in a way that made it an easy recommendation for anyone who leans toward roasted, nutty flavors. Prices across the menu are genuinely affordable for the quality. The loose leaf teas can be rebrewed multiple times, which added real value to the experience as we settled in for a while. Service was warm and unhurried, with staff who clearly know the drink menu well and are happy to talk through the options without any pressure. For a handcrafted drink in a space that feels like it was built for people who actually care about what they are drinking, The Sipping Room earns a spot on the short list. We would come back for the dalgona coffee and a quiet afternoon with a rebrewed pot of tea.
