This Fremont location is not on par with the rest of their locations. I love CSC and have been to a lot of their Southern California locations + Cupertino. All of them are within variance in terms of flavor profile. This Fremont location always tastes off or watered down. I've gone here at least 3 times and some of my other friends who also are huge CSC fans said the same thing. You are seriously wasting your money going here. Just go to the Cupertino location instead. You won't be disappointed. The much hyped, long awaited Chicha San Chen has finally arrived in Fremont! I went for their grand/soft opening and there was a long line of people as early as noon. The staff was kind enough to pass out menus to those waiting in line and even stopped to answer different questions about what to order, give samples, etc. I've gone to this location in LA so was familiar with its reputation, but still had a little bit of sticker shock looking at some of the prices. Their most popular milk and fruit teas cost at least $8-9 without add-ons, which seems steep even for a shop that is known for their quality. But maybe I've been spoiled by Taiwan - I honestly don't think any drink is worth this price. I did order a couple drinks for me and friends to try - the peach oolong and lemon cream were both refreshing and not super sweet, which I appreciated. The interiors of the store are very aesthetic and it's clear they have a customer base dedicated enough to wait in a long line and strong social media. I've had a photo of this place since it was still under construction last August, so seeing it finally open got me excited! This boba shop is like a mini factory. It recently opened, which is this week. I'm glad that I haven't missed out especially when I just found out about it when deciding what I want to have. The line was kinda long but I heard that it was longer during grand opening day. We were informed that it will take between 20-30 minutes to prepare our drinks, but that's okay. I mean they just opened and it could take them to to prepare our drinks especially when there's too many people here based on my visit. There's also a promotion where you get pins if you're one of the first 200 orders, order two drinks, and of course, follow them on IG. I gotta follow them after my visit. It really looks nice inside and they have tea machines where you can watch them prepare drinks. They also serve samples too. I heard that they sell travel sized bags, but honestly, I've never heard boba shop doing this. There are also other displays that you can read more about boba and other drinks. I've seen people being satisfied with their drinks and I saw one feeling that way to one of the staff. Guess what? They're not wrong at all. We were so excited that Chicha San Chen was finally open in Fremont! We went on the soft opening weekend and the line was long. The wait for ordering on the kiosk was 10min but the wait for getting the drink was 30min. We got the signature Dong Ding Oolong Milk Tea (added boba) and a Green Tea with Cream. Both were super creamy and had strong tea flavors! I personally preferred the green tea since I felt that it came better with the cream. The boba was chewy too. The store was located in a plaza at Pacific Commons. There were a lot of parking but it could be difficult to find one during peak hours. I always had to go to Cupertino to get my fix from Chicha San Chen, I am happy to report they finally opened one in Pacific Commons at Fremont. There is kiosk to order drinks. And an area that has free samples of the boba they want to showcase. You can check a book menu for your choices or check the board before lining up. I would recommend trying basic tea like the Osmanthus Honey and gradually add different variations as you come to visit again. I like the fact they brew each and every boba carefully that is why it takes longer but I think it is worth it if you are a tea lover. The staff is always efficient and friendly. The wait is from 20-30 minutes, a smaller location than the one in Cupertino. No tea tasting area that talks about the different types. I think you can reserve an appointment but they are currently on soft opening. I like the fact they have multiple outlets and seating is decent but it does get busy. Download app Snackpass and you can just wait from home or work before heading out to pick it up. Chicha San Chen has recently opened in Fremont, finally and I had to check it out. For those of you that are not familiar with this store, it has origins from Taichung, Taiwan. Yes, from Taiwan, not "claims" of it but from within Taiwan. There were some patrons inside, but otherwise not an overly crowded line during a weekday afternoon. The inside is modern, newly renovated and nicely lit. It has a combination of white and brightness feel to it, a very welcoming atmosphere. The store manager, an older gentleman is there to coach his team and you can tell that they are taking this seriously. None of this bs soft opening and like no one knows wtf they're doing stuff. Straight professionalism right from the get go, just like the way business should operate. I appreciate this very much. The menu is self ordered. You got touch screens in front of you, I gotta warn you, the milk tea here is NOT cheap. But it's not expensive for the sake of expensive as I saw inside the store that they use REAL tea leaves. Yes, I know, for a milk tea you expect well, tea but a lot of establishments out there uses "blends" which are not created from quality tea leaves or even powders. Not these guys, thumbs up for this. They have a display of awards they have won on tea, a testament of the stuff you'll be drinking as you order. They don't have LED screens telling you that the tea is artisan. You see 5-7 of them over the counter with machines brewing the tea and are actively blending your drink right in front of you. Yes, now this is the real deal. I got a bubble milk tea, a signature tea here. It tasted as you expect, quality tea with a mix of caramel inside the boba. The boba is slightly warm but that's to be expected when they are fresh. Very chewy and definitely passes my boba test. Great cup of tea, 5 out of 5 from me. The store was super busy on Saturday afternoon. The estimated time posted at the door for the line was pretty accurate. Ordering is by kiosk and the menu was quite big. I went with the fresh milk with taro paste and taro balls. And also a signature bubble volcano drink. From the time I finished paying to getting my drinks, it was about 10-15 minutes. There's a large screen displaying when to expect your drinks and also you can sign up to get the text updates. I think the system was pretty efficient. The people brewing tea and making the drinks were so efficient. Almost like robots. They were all very impressive. The inside of the store was nicely decorated with the hills and mountain theme. Both of my drinks were great. First time having taro mochi balls in my drink and they were slightly softer than boba and a little more chewy. Chicha just isn't my cup of tea. I've visited their Cupertino location before and was unimpressed with the Dong Ding milk tea and their other options. I felt the cost of the drinks along with the long wait times was a huge disappointment given the hype surrounding the brand. I decided to give this location a shot and ordered their High Mountain Oolong tea with fresh milk, less sweet, light ice, no toppings. The cost was $7.50. True to their word, they brew each drink to order. However, my drink only tasted of watery milk and had no tea flavor whatsoever. With how expensive boba is getting and with many different chains entering the scene, you really need to deliver a good product to maintain a foothold and Chicha has not done that for me. Very disappointed that the tea quality is not consistent. I have been a big fan for the Chicha San Chen in Cupertino for the past years. I was super excited, knowing that there is a Chicha opening in Fremont. However, I visited this Fremont location 3 times and each time is always watered down. I usually get the same 75% sweetness, and mind you I even adjusted the sweetness to 100% for the last 2 times. The tea still tastes super watered down and no tea flavor. The tea shop game here in the Bay is evolving and strong. Leaving are the cutesy ones, ones that were more geared towards teeny types of taste buds, lots of sweet drinks/flavors that often would mask the natural flavor of tea. Entering are Asian chains that take tea more seriously, which I think fit my style and palate much more. I had only heard of Chicha San Chen probably within the last 2 years. They've been expanding here in the Bay Area and finally plopped one in my Asian-rich town. Not sure but they may even have replaced another tea/boba shop in this busy, mostly Asian business strip mall. Even the overall aesthetics is very adult and not cutesy for kids. The employees all wear uniforms and are well groomed, kinda like airline employees. Lol. No teenaged employees wearing tshirts and jeans here, this place is a regimented machine. Even their tea brewing appartatus looks more like from a science lab then it does for a boba shop. It appears they brew to order as it does take a while to get your drinks. Like with just 3-4 orders ahead of me, it took over 15 minutes to get our 2 drinks. Upon ordering at the kiosk, you will get a text on the confirmation and an ETA on the completion. Mine was off by close to 5 minutes, so they take their time to do it their way. They are not just slinging drinks and cutting corners to make things go faster. From what I gathered the drinks seemed to start at about $7 - $8 and I'm sure could exceed the $10 mark depending on sizes and extras you add. Their cups are super unique with a rustic string attached, which is more for aesthetics than function. I found their lids to be strange as it doesn't fit their thicker straws, and some drinks they say to give it a good stir before sipping but you can't stir anything unless you take that lid off. And when driving is a big no-go. Cassia Black Tea with added cream and grass jelly (4*) I requested less sweet and it hit my sweet spot. Totally not sweet at all, which I liked. Their cream is super light and natural, and they froth it just a tad without making it thick. Not sure what Cassia tea is but just tasted like a good and quality black tea. I could taste the tea but I could even prefer a bolder tea flavor. But for the general public, this is probably more ideal. Their grass jelly is on the softer side and slightly sweet. Even the ice they use is super unique, they are like smooth oval disks, never seen that ever, so they are keen on separating themselves. Iced Peach Oolong Tea (4.5*) Loved this. Got this less sweet as well and even though it was nice and fragrant from peach, there were no cloying syrup flavors. Even Yi Fang's fruit teas are too sweet for me, here it is very adult. There was also a touch of that light cream in this and lots of chunks of a natural peach which sealed the deal for me on loving this. Everyone has different taste, but I will say that this was a good fit for me. I'm not a daily tea shop goer, maybe once a week or so. And I'll only do it if I am already nearby, won't drive miles for a particular shop. But if ever in this part of town, this will be my option of choice for a refreshing tea drink. read more

Stopped by Chicha San Chen in Fremont on a Sunday and it was definitely busy, but the line moved faster than expected. I waited about 10-15 minutes to order but probably waited ~30 minutes for my order to be made. Ordering is done through a self-serve kiosk, which I always appreciate because you can see photos of all the drinks--super helpful when everything looks good and you want to try something new. It was a warm day, so the Lemon Mango Condensed Milk Tea caught my eye and wanted something refreshing. And it did just that. It reminded me of a lemonade with a fancy twist , the condensed milk added just the right amount of creaminess, and the mango gave it a nice sweet boost without being overpowering. Together, was such a nice balance of flavor. I added boba pearls and they were A+. Soft, chewy, and lightly sweet--exactly how good boba should be. Their tea veers on the lighter, more delicate end, so I do feel like the dairy and the flavors (like mango) can easily overpower their drinks. It's not bad or bland at all, just very delicate. And expensive--I'd say these drinks are on the higher end of most boba joints, though not by much. Expect roughly $10 for your drink, assuming you're adding a topping.
