This is a very nice quick Asian food option in Tenafly. It's a counter service, mostly take-out establishment with limited seating. You can order in advance and pick up at the time you choose. If you are late, they will start calling you. You can order donuts online and choose which ones you want when you get there. The price point is good and they have a rewards program. They have some very nice Korean and Japanese rice bowls. We pretty much always get the soy garlic Korean chicken bowl. The chicken is cooked nice and tender and the dish has just the right level of sweetness. They also have mochi donuts (which are just funny shaped donuts - think a bunch of donut holes strung together into the donut shape), which the kids absolutely love - particularly the nutella one. read more

Stopped by Chick & Roll around 2PM on a Saturday. It's a small place with a handful of tables and it wasn't too busy. I tried the chicken sandwich, chicken Katsu Bowl, Korean corn dogs, matcha boba, and Misugaru latte. The Spicy Chicken Sandwich was great. The chicken was seasoned well and fried to perfection. It was still nice and moist inside and the spice level was pretty good. I could've done with a bit more heat, but I prefer things to lack a little heat than to have too much. The doughnut buns were nice and soft and added a doughy sweetness to the chicken's crispy and savory. The slaw on top added some freshness. I really enjoyed the sandwich. The chicken Katsu Bowl was very good too. The chicken was different from the chicken in the sandwich, but it was just as flavorful and moist. The Korean corn dogs are good. On par with all the other Korean corn dogs I've ever had. We got half hot dog and half mozzarella. Honestly I enjoyed the mozzarella more and will probably get full mozzarella next time. The drinks were pretty good too. I tried the matcha boba and Misugaru latte. The matcha was alright and I liked that they were pretty generous with the amount of boba they give. Great spot for a quick bite to eat. The cashier man was super friendly and welcoming. There are some seats inside for small groups. The soy garlic chicken was incredibly delicious and was pleasantly surprised. Really tender and full of flavor. Food well worth the price. The corndog was okay and wanted to try it at least once. Me and my friends came here because we were in the area, and we loved it!! The owner is also so, SO lovely. I got the oyakodon bowl and it was amazing. Our 3rd time here, since the owner relocated from Norwood. The girls behind the counter are always pleasant and helpful. The inside is small with a few tables to relax. The music playing is always at a decent volume. The Rice Hot Dog rolls are amazing and so tasty. We have had several different types and they are always good. The mochi not donut's are really good too. We just got the filled donuts this time to bring home and try. My wife loves the matcha bobba drink. My favorite flavors are the mango and Nutella. They have a rewards program which is really good and it's easy to rack up points. They also have chicken bowls, chicken sandwiches and rice hot dogs. An absolute gem!! We came across this spot after having always wanted to try Korean hot dogs and we discovered so much more! To start off, you are greeted by a cute and clean little restaurant with a few nice tables and super friendly staff. There is a big display case of their donuts upon entry, which starts to excite your appetite! We ordered two of the "rice dogs" one potato and one ramen. Another person in our group ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. Our dogs were absolutely delicious, hot and fresh (many condiments available as well). The chicken sandwich looked so good we ended up ordering one to go! We of course had to try a bite while fresh and it is hands down the best crispy chicken sandwich I have ever had. The spice is not too much but the perfect little kick. One of the most exciting parts of the sandwich is that it's served on a donut bun...how unique! I ended up ordering a misugaru latte "for the car" and I am so glad I did! Super unique nutty flavor. The owner was there as well and he could not have been more gracious. He really made our experience top tier. He asked us how everything was, what sauces we used for the dogs and he even offered to take the spicy chicken back if it was too spicy (it was perfect). He ended up giving us a complimentary cream filled donut on our way out because he noticed how much we enjoyed everything. I have had many donuts in my life...best cream filled donut I have ever had! We would have definitely come back regardless but the kindness of the owner makes us want to come back and support this wonderful business even more. I like the donuts, but i LOVE the food here. The kimbop rolls are always fresh and delish (and have been my main go-to), the oyakodon, chicken bowls and tonkatsu are generously apportioned and really very, very good. There's nothing on the menu that I wouldn't order again, except for the rice dogs bec I'm generally not a fan of Korean-style corn dogs. And now... with the introduction of the Crispy Chicken Sandwich... Chick&Roll has taken things to a new level. I am torn about this review because knowing there is a scarcity of production capacity for this sandwich, I am worried that it will become so popular that next time I stop by to order one for lunch I'll be met with the news that they all sold out by 10:30 am. There are a few things I wish for. One is that I could give this place six stars on Yelp; one alone for the chicken sandwich. Another is that instead of typing out this review on my phone, I would have this chicken sandwich in my hands, stuffing my face (though I just finished one 10 min ago). Who needs another one? Chik fil A, Popeyes, everyone is making a chicken sandwich nowadays. And put it in a donut bun (the sufganiyot, not the mochi donut)? Sounds gimmicky. So why bother? WHY BOTHER? Bec it's the best d@mn crispy chicken sandwich that ever was, that's why you bother!! I'll never need to go back to Popeyes or my beloved Chik Fil A because this one, hands down, is superior. The first bite: soft, light sweet donut bread and the CRISPY, flaky crunch of the batter and juicy, savory dark chicken meat... and then your tongue meets the yellow sauce (whatever that is, it's tasty and not overpowering) and the interspersed sweet butter chip pickle, such that every bite you take is not exactly the same flavor profile or intensity.
