I love Chick and Tea's fried chicken cutlet! It's my favorite out of all the other Taiwanese bento box restaurants. It's crispy, juicy, and has so much flavor. I also love the fact that they put minced pork sauce on the rice and it also comes with different seasonal veggie sides as well. Ordering is easy because you can order on the touch screen kiosk or with the cashier. One thing I have yet to find at Chick and Tea is a good drink. Every drink I have gotten has been disappointing lol. So I don't recommend any of the drinks as of now. tl;dr - Tasty Taiwanese comfort food with huge portions and decent prices, but they HAVE to deal with the gnat problem. I've had gnats in my water cups TWICE and had to shoo away flying gnats both times I ate in house. I've had both the traditional fried and grilled gpie and fried squid plates as well as the basil popcorn chicken here. Massive portions and tasty chicken! I prefer the grilled version as the fried can be a little too fried sometimes once you get through half of the dish. There are little sides within the plate that are great. Despite the tastiness of the food, I had to drop my rating down a star because I cannot deal with the gnat problem they have. There are tiny flies flying around that you have to fight away throughout the meal, and I've had sealed water cups handed to me with a dead gnat at the bottom. I'm not sure if I'll do dine in in the future because I don't want to fight the flies. Goes to show also that the food safety might be compromised if there are a ton of gnats everywhere. Now that I've tried both Milpitas and Sunnyvale locations. Probably Milpitas is Macy closer location for me in the future. We ordered a bunch of take outs. All of them was labeled as requested. However, there's rooms for improvements on packing takeouts. I've order 10 plus bentos in addition to the drinks and appetizers. I only got about half the chopsticks needed and no other utensils... we had to scramble for some utensils to eat with... . About food, it was mediocre. Can't complain since most of the food items were deep fried. The popcorn chickens stayed fairly crispy when I got the food. It was about 30 minutes from the time I picked up the food to the time of consumption. Portions are pretty big. read more

Wow wow! Probably the best fried popcorn chicken I've ever had! Also sampled their fried tofu and taro balls. They have mastered the art of frying. Food came out quickly and the bento box portion sizes are generous. The decor is minimalistic and also really cute. I decided to order takeout here for dinner and was excited since I'd never tried Chick & Tea before! I ordered the Minced Pork Rice Plate (B11) and the Fresh Lemon Tea (T9) with boba. I really enjoyed the Minced Pork Rice Plate and would recommend that! The flavor of the minced pork was delicious and it went really well with the rice, cucumber, cabbage, and egg. I think this was a great deal! I personally did not really care for the Fresh Lemon Tea though. It tasted as if I were drinking an actual lemon rather than lemon tea, which made it hard to drink. My friend had their regular boba milk tea and liked it though, so I'm sure the other drinks here are better and would recommend trying those. After having passed by this place countless times, we finally popped in for a light snack. I've never been to Taiwan, but I've been told that its street food has no peer in the world. I was thusly excited to finally have an opportunity to try the cuisine, even if it was just a small sample. We arrived in the early afternoon, presumably after any noontime rush might have passed. The restaurant was empty save for one other customer, yet the parking lot of curiously crowded even though the rest of the businesses in this strip mall seemed decidedly inert. We scanned the menu posted on the wall next to the counter and made our selections. Be advised that there are no prices on the poster, so if you're curious about how much you're about to pay, you should probably take a look at one of the regular menus. Filling our bellies today was" Fried jumbo squid ($12.79) - a reasonably generous portion of breaded and fried squid. This was unfortunately overcooked and rather rubbery, but yet wasn't as crispy as expected. The flavor was good; it comes with a dipping sauce that I found to be too sweet and thought it was fine just as is. Crispy tofu ($5.99) - lightly fried chunks of medium-firm tofu with a soy-based dipping sauce. This was nicely done and delicious. Condensed milk buns ($5.99) - this took a little longer to cook. They looked like they would be light and airy when they came out, but they were actually fairly dense and substantial, which isn't a bad thing. These were greasier than I would have preferred, and the center of the buns were perhaps just a tad undercooked. The sweetened condensed milk was provided on the side as opposed to drizzled on top, and it wasn't really possible to pour it over the buns since it's such a thick liquid, so we just dipped the buns into the tub. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly, as would be expected since we came during a quiet time. Looking at the menu, it is a bit heavy on the fried items; despite our small meal I could sense my liver going into overdrive to produce enough bile to emulsify the fat. They do have some grilled snack items that might be worth a try some time, and perhaps if we're hungrier we'll give their entrees a go. read more
