Not great and not bad. Just what I was expecting it to be. The macaroni surprised me. It was actually really tasty and cheesy. It didn't taste like the fake cheese/ yellow stuff. This was honestly the worst Chick-fil-A experience I've ever had. Every single employee we interacted with had an attitude. Not one person was welcoming or even neutral it felt openly rude from the start. One of the young men continued responding to us with unnecessary attitude the entire interaction. It wasn't a one off comment it was consistent. Even the family standing next to us noticed and commented on how unnecessarily rude the staff was being toward us. The girl who checked me out wouldn't even look at me while I was ordering. She was looking everywhere but at me, which just added to how dismissive and uncomfortable the whole experience felt. To top it off, we were asked if we knew they closed at 10 PM even though Google Maps lists their closing time as 11 PM. If your hours are different, update them. Don't treat customers like they're doing something wrong for coming in during posted business hours. Chick fil A is known for exceptional customer service. After leaving Legoland we came here to have a late dinner with my family. Kids choice of course. It was busy, I'm thinking everyone came here after Legoland lol the line moved fast, the cashier helping us was so nice and friendly. She was the best. Our food also came within minutes. So fast. Now this is a fast food place indeed. I ordered the chicken nuggets combo. The nuggets were good but I wasn't a fan of the fires. A bit undercooked for me. With only two Chick-fil-A's in our area, it's a really tough decision because both are great and both have wonderful service and great managers. But this week I had to give it to Carlsbad for this reason, it's about a five minute walk to my favorite trail on the cliffs of Carlsbad Beach. So, you get a good workout in and then two minutes later you're ordering one of the outside tables at Chick-fil-A still breathing that ocean air. That works for me. read more

Very rude service here, they don't have a drive thru so the only options are dine in, pick up or mobile order but at exactly 10 even if you're still in the restaurant waiting for food they won't allow you to use the bathroom. It was 10:01 and they refused to let me use the bathroom even though i have to wait in here to get my order. There's still over 10 people in here waiting and they won't let anyone use the bathroom, makes no sense if you're open another hour and still have people waiting in the open area and eating. But the employees get to walk past the table they set up and still use the bathroom but i can't even tho im a paying customer is crazy. How is that fair that i'm told no but the employees get to walk past me and use it at the same time im standing there asking but for me i get told no. Terrible service. read more

CHICK FIL A @ CARLSBAD WEST Parking was a little bit odd, immediately when we turned into the lot, there was about 20 curbside pick up so it seems that their parking structure was more on curbside immediately as a first impression. We parked there anyways. We ended up doing an online order. I just got some medium fries and some mac & cheese. Walking in the place was extremely spacious. They even had surfboards on the wall, which I thought was awesome. The workers were really nice and kind. The bathrooms, however, were a little bit dirty but all the tables were cleaned. The food itself was delicious. I've never tried mac & cheese from Chick-fil-A before so I was really excited to try and it was delicious as well as the fries were steaming hot overall I'll definitely come back to the spot. The establishment looks semi clean but a wipe down is def. Needed. Doesn't have a drive through. Lame!!! Plus, charges you the 10cents bag fee even though they don't require it at restaurants. This is one of the only stores I know of who charges this bag fee. They must need the money since their ratings are so low. Food is also switched to paper products, so that's semi good I guess. I feel that there's less salad than in the plastic container. Seems cutting costs and taking more money from customers. Won't be back. read more

The food at this location has always been excellent!! I feel that Chick-Fil-A is on the more expensive side of fast food, but I personally don't mind that if the food is good. Every time I had food at this location it has arguably been the best food I've had at a Chick-Fil-A. Not going to lie, wish there was a drive thru, but their service was really quick! Wow, after reading the reviews - you people are tough! This IS a brand new location, yes it's a weird layout and a whole different process to get your food AND there's no drive-thru ... BUT they're ironing out the kinks. They're as efficient as they can be for the location and drive-thru laws in Carlsbad. I've been inside to order (and eat) as well as mobile ordered from the app to pick up at the allocated pick-up lot area. The times I've mobile ordered, I've received my food within a couple of minutes after parking. Super fast! Employees have been amazing and upbeat. Yes, they got an item wrong in my order once (I ate it anyway since I didn't realize it was incorrect until I got home), but today I went inside to let them know. They made it right no problem and were wonderful about it. So give 'em a bit of grace, it takes a bit for any new restaurant to get up and running smoothly. Most employees are new so you'll get mistakes, this is to be expected. My hubby and I usually give a restaurant a few months to get all the kinks out before going. It WILL be crazy at certain times getting into the pkg lot with the ALWAYS busy In-n-Out right next door, hopefully this'll be ironed out as well. This restaurant has done very well managing the curbside pick up. But I recently dined in and the service was absolutely lacking. Immediately walking in the doors were cloudy and dirty. The cashier was not outgoing and did not assist my needs for ordering. With that frustration I forgot to scan my app. I placed a separate mobile order while inside because the cashier couldn't assist me and I asked the staff that delivered our food a question about ordering and again the exchange lacked the usual Chick-fil-A enthusiasm. My daughter then went to refill her cup at the counter and it took way too long so I went up and noticed 4 others also waiting for refills. Once I clearly asked if everyone was waiting for refills someone finally came. Before leaving I went to get myself a refill and waited for the cashier to finish taking an order and instead of tending to me next or even look my way she took the next person in line. While another staff walked right past me. I had to interrupt and ask for a refill. I will definitely not dine in again soon. But I am putting this here for hopes to see improvement because I love Chick-fil-A and glad this store opened in my area but I was disappointed in my recent experience. This is my local Chick-fil-A right around the corner that I always go to, but I just wanted to hop on here and give a quick shoutout to this location. The food was amazing as always, but what really blew me away was how smooth the curbside pickup process was. All you have to do is place a mobile order in the Chick-fil-A app, pull into any curbside spot, and enter your spot number so they know where to bring your food...super easy! Customer service was a solid 10/10! Shoutout to the team member who brought out my order, didn't catch his name, but he had awesome energy and clearly loved what he was doing. And the best part? I've been coming to this chick-fil-a since it opened. Dine-in experience is fine but take out is a nightmare - I would give it 1 star if it weren't for decent dine in. Every time I walk in the take out counter is not staffed and I wait forever for somebody to come out. Often I feel like they see people waiting and still continue working/ignoring. We wanted to grab a quick familiar breakfast before going to Legoland for the day. So we decided to stop by CFA. We drove from one side of the building to the other looking for a drive thru. Welp there is NO DRIVE THRU at this location. Weird. I went inside to place my order and there was ONE cashier. You can imagine that the line got really long really fast with only one cashier and no drive thru. Place an order for pick up if you're coming here. Hopefully that'll get you out quicker. The lady working the register was sweet and I felt super bad for her knowing she had to deal with everyone in the long line who were also probably in a rush to get to Legoland. I stopped here on the way back north from a day on the beach, and I'd say this location is up to Chick-Fil-A standards. I visited on a Saturday evening, and even so, I didn't feel it was super busy. My grilled chicken nuggets were tasty as usual, and I finally tried the chicken noodle soup, which is nice option as a side instead of crinkle fries. When I gave his name at the counter, the staff came back to tell me they never made his food and couldn't anymore since it was 10:40. They claimed the app never sent the order, but he had placed it well before the cutoff time. Instead of offering a solution or a swap, they told me I'd have to stand back in line and reorder if I wanted to get him something else. To make it worse, they said his card "shouldn't have been charged" -- but it was. With a long line and no drive-thru option, I ended up leaving without food for him.
