Chicken tenders
Crestin G.

Chick-fil-A, What Happened Tonight? Chick-fil-A has never let me down. Seriously, every visit until now has been a 10/10. Hot food, friendly service, and that "my pleasure" energy that makes everything feel a little better. But tonight? Man... I was excited. Been looking forward to this meal all day. And then I opened the box... The chicken was a major letdown, overcooked, dry, and just off. The tenders looked like they'd been forgotten in the fryer, and the sandwich? Not much better. Uneven texture, kind of tough, and not the juicy filet I've come to expect. It's rare for me to have a bad experience with Chick-fil-A, and that's exactly why this one stung a little more. I know it's not the norm, but tonight just wasn't it. Hoping this was a one-off. Still love y'all, just not this batch.

The outside of the drive-through

Chick-fil-A has this moments. The food is decent depending on if they cook it right sometimes the pieces are either too small or sometimes the stuff is cold mainly their fries. But today it seemed like the line was actually moving pretty quickly as there was really no line around 5 PM on a Saturday. I know they do like to hire young people, but sometimes they do get distracted, so example would be that my fries were cold and that when the attendant in the drive-through gave me my drink, which was HI-c whoever made the drink just let the fruit punch spill all over the cup and then the attendant just gave it to me without even trying to wipe it off or anything or didn't give me anything to wipe it off.

Always a line...always.

Love the food, love the service, but the drive-thru and lines just to get a meal. It's all the time...

Spicy Deluxe Sandwich

As always the customer service was excellent! I even came on a good day when the drive thru line wasn't long. I ordered a spicy deluxe sandwich for the first time. It was decent, I dropped it down to 4 stars because I received it lukewarm.

After multiple visits I can def say this the worst Chick-fil-A I ever been to. Super slow service. Minimum 30 minute wait.

Their rice bowls are huge. Seriously. Ask a few questions first so you know exactly what you're getting, unless you're planning on having leftovers for a day or two. I ordered a rice bowl with brown rice and added some chicken wings on the side. The bowl was packed with rice, vegetables, and the sauce I selected, and everything worked well together. The food was flavorful, filling, and honestly more than I expected. I didn't finish it in one sitting, and it took me almost two days to work through everything. The chicken wings were good too, and I liked that they had plenty of options and different combinations to choose from on the menu. They don't have specialty house-made drinks, but they do offer your standard Coke and Pepsi products. The restaurant also has plenty of seating, a few TVs, and a relaxed atmosphere. When I visited, they had soccer playing in the background, which added to the vibe. One thing that stood out was the owner. He was there helping customers, answering questions, and making recommendations. I always appreciate seeing that level of involvement. Overall, this is a solid local spot. My only advice is to make sure you understand the portion sizes before ordering because they are not small. If you're in the Charlotte area and looking for a good rice bowl, wings, or just a filling meal, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try.

I originally discovered Tasty Bowl through a catering website when I ordered 60 bowls for my office, and the feedback from my coworkers was off the charts. After that, I knew I had to check it out in person. Today, I finally made the trip, and it was worth every mile. The location is tucked away in a corporate park, so you might think you're in the wrong spot at first. But when you see the wacky inflatable arms guy waving outside, you'll know you've arrived at Tasty Bowl. Not only did I get to try the food fresh from the source, but I also had the pleasure of meeting Raj, the owner. If you visit, you'll probably meet him too since he's always there making sure every customer is well taken care of. Raj is one of the most friendly, caring, and genuine people I've ever met. We ended up talking for over two hours about food, life, and world issues. He's the kind of guy you could've spent hours on the phone with as a kid, chatting away on a corded landline in the '90s. The story behind Tasty Bowl is just as unique as Raj himself. While on vacation in Jamaica, he hired locals to cook for him during his stay. He was so inspired by their flavors and techniques that when he returned to the U.S., he decided to transform his sandwich shop into what is now Tasty Bowl. After testing out his new creations with customers, they told him he needed to start serving these bowls full-time, and just like that, Tasty Bowl was born. Tasty Bowl specializes in hefty, flavor-packed rice and salad bowls with a variety of proteins, cheeses, toppings, and sauces. You can pick from signature bowls created by loyal customers or build your own from scratch. Tasty Bowl has many gluten-free menu items, making it a great spot for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you're looking for a bowl, salad, or protein-packed meal, there are plenty of options to choose from. If you come here enough, Raj might even name a bowl after you. I ordered the Cheezy Buffalo Bacon bowl, and it was fantastic. It came with buttered buffalo rice, grilled chicken, grilled onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms, all drizzled with hot sauce and shredded cheese. The spice level was just right for someone like me who doesn't like overly spicy foods. One important tip is to make sure to mix up your bowl before digging in so that all the shredded cheese melts and the sauces blend perfectly into the rice. There are many other signature bowls I need to try, and maybe one day I'll finally be brave enough to create my own bowl. If I do, who knows? Hopefully Raj will add it to his menu board so everyone can order it. Raj is also opening a Tasty Bowls & a vegetarian Indian spot in a ghost kitchen in South End, meaning soon you'll be able to order Tasty Bowl and Vegetarian Indian food through third-party delivery services or pick up late-night meals until 1 AM. This place is a hidden secret that everyone in Charlotte needs to know about. If you haven't been yet, make the drive to Steele Creek and see for yourself. It won't stay a secret for long.

It was moscotto and looked like it had been shaken because it continually overflowed the bottle, so much so she put it in the ice box to contain it. There was wine on the table, floor, and (of course) the ice box. All she said was "That never happens." No apology, no offer to replace the bottle (we lost at least a glass and a half of wine), and no discount. I decided not to ask for manager purely because we were with friends and I didn't want this to become the "focus." On top of this, however, service was generally bad. We didn't order food, but it took about 10 minutes for our friends to have their order taken, another 20 for food to come out, another 10 for one person's food to arrive (she had a pizza that should've cooked the quickest), an extended period for the offer of the check and grabbing our cards. The only positive is the food seems good (based off of our friends), but that's it. I personally would never reccomend this establishment due to the lack of courtesy and attentiveness.

This time, I ended up at The Wine Shop just down the way and it turned out to be a great second option, the kind of place that feels immediately comfortable even when you're showing up solo with time to fill. It was pretty busy for a Sunday afternoon, but I found a seat at the bar where I was warmly greeted and with a big glass of water set down before I even had to ask. I ordered a glass of the Malbec with an Argentina label and paired it with the pimento cheese that arrives bubbling in a skillet alongside a huge pile of pita wedges that could easily feed two people if you were so inclined. The wine was absolutely excellent, the cheese was hot and spicy in all the right ways, and before I knew it, my phone buzzed with the text that Mrs. K. was ready to be picked up. We'll be back to Ulta soon enough and when that happens, I'll be right here at The Wine Shop, settling in and waiting it out with no complaints at all.
