Chick-fil-A why do you gotta get so political? Ugh. I had to confess to my brother that I went to Chick-fil-A and...enjoyed it. To my surprise, many of my friends have encountered the same dilemma. To your surprise, I never tried Chick-fil-A in California and my first time was in Michigan at this location. My experience was great-- quick friendly customer service, clean spacious location, moist tender juicy chicken, kickbutt app with rewards, mouth-watering sauces, crispy fresh fries. What more could a gal want? Location is on 28th near the Woodland Mall where all the buzz is. It's always busy but it's refreshing to see where 90% of Grand Rapidians go. Definitely recommend the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with the fries. I like to mix the house sauce and BBQ sauce to one ooey gooey goodness. Otherwise, enjoy your guilty pleasure at the expense of your soul #ColbertEyebrowRaise

I will say this, the staff were very friendly, and the food comes out super fast. The lines have been super long but Nate stopped by one evening to grab us a three tender meal. I can't speak to the drive through experience as I wasn't there, but it seems pretty efficient and they have a couple lanes. The three tender combo is about $10 and the tenders were quite small. They were pretty crispy, especially for coming from a drive through 20 minutes away, so I was happy about that (previous tenders I've had from Raising Cane's were soggy). The fries were still warm and seasoned well, and I personally enjoy crinkle fries. The Sprite was crisp and they use that good pebble ice. I personally don't care for Texas toast, so I wish they had an option for more fries instead of toast. Overall it's a decent chain but not something I really need to go out of my way for.

They also had $1 chicken tenders during happy hour, so I ordered six - they were a bit smaller than I was expecting but at $1 each it's a great deal. The tenders were cooked well - crispy on the outside and juicy inside. I'd rank Hancock's chicken tenders in my top 5 in GR. Other food options include sandwiches, wraps, a burger, bone in chicken, sides like pimento mac and cheese, and their jalapeno cheddar cornbread. They also have a vegan option (seitan patty). I love the hot spice level, which isn't super spicy. Their boozy slushies are refreshing and tasty, and they usually have one or two rotating flavors. The patio has some yard games and space for groups. There's metered street parking available.

We ordered the hottest chicken sandwich, which in my opinion had great flavor but I wouldn't say it's overwhelmingly hot. The jalapeño corn bread is deliciously sweet and moist. Pair it with their butter, that's chef's kiss. We also had an order of the chicken and waffles. Honestly, I think the waffles might be my favorite thing on the menu. It has this caramelized top layer that provides a satisfying crunch with each bite and it's as dense as a piece of cake. Highly recommend. It's a cute little restaurant with a darling outside, perfect place for lunch or a summer night. The service is always top notch.

Wings were kind of small. Waffle fries were fresh and crispy. Clean restaurant! 2 small issues. They don't have wet wipes to clean your hands. Not a big deal They also only have packets of ketchup and I love ketchup so I was hopping for a bottle. I will return and try again.

It seemed pretty popular as a couple of people had placed orders before me and were waiting for their food and then they were a few people after me as well. It does take a while for you to get your food, though. I was willing to wait. They did mess up my order and gave me a barbecue chicken wrap instead of a buffalo chicken wrap that I ordered. I feel like this may have thrown them off maybe not but my chicken was way over sauced it really took away from the flavor of the chicken itself and I'm pretty sure I don't even know if there was any blue cheese because all I could taste with sauce. The jalapeño poppers were meh and they didn't really have a special sauce that comes with them. I am surprised they didn't do anything to make up for messing my order and making me wait longer. I may give them another shot but will have to request that they only put a little sauce or on the side.

At first I was hesitant because of the price, and it being biscuits, but they made me eat those words and more. It was like a large biscuit muffin top with jalapeño, cheese and honey glaze (I think) and it came with a white cheddar cheese sauce to dip it in that was outrageously delicious. For a guy who hates cheddar biscuits, I've got to say I'm blown away. My wife ordered the steak with fingerling potatoes and carrots. It was on the pricier side, but yet again well worth it. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the veggies were pretty good too. They had live music playing as well tonight. It was a jazzy kind of vibe and it didn't over power anyone talking or anything. The guy had some serious skill too. To top it off, we had some pretty killer service from everyone there. From the hostess taking our names, random servers walking around, and our fantastic server (I forget her name but she was blonde and worked upstairs and had a a really great attitude. The expo or food runner dropping our food off anticipated us possibly needing an extra plate and brought one without asking which was super awesome and ended up coming in handy ( I knew my wife wouldn't finish that steak alone) and she brought it without asking and was ready with a smile to get more. I used to be a GM (I hate when people use this saying but...) truly I know how hard it is to find good workers and the folks running it here seem to have it down. I come from a place where you have to drive 100 mi or more for average service. So seeing exceptional service is really almost too good to be true. I'd definitely stop in for a bite. It's worth every penny. We'll be back for dessert, they have seasonal crème brûlées!

I dined at TOG today for a business lunch and, unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing…read more At the end of our meal, I asked for a to-go box because I had barely touched my food. My guest and I spent most of our lunch talking, and I left with nearly an entire meal. About 20 minutes after leaving, I realized I had forgotten my box and immediately called the restaurant to see if it was still there. The young lady who answered the phone asked where I had been seated. I explained that I was at the very first table at the front of the restaurant. Within seconds, she told me there was nothing there. Her tone made it clear that assisting me was not a priority. Given that the hostess stand is located at the back of the restaurant and I was seated at the front, I do not believe there was enough time for her to actually check before dismissing my concern. After I sent an email regarding the situation, the hostess responded that she had walked through the restaurant looking for the box. Based on the timing of our phone conversation, I find that difficult to believe. In her response, she also stated that she checked with the servers after our call had ended, which suggests that no real effort was made while I was on the phone. What is most disappointing is that I am a regular customer. Today, I paid $56.00 for lunch for myself and my business guest. Between a server who was largely absent throughout the meal and the dismissive interaction when I called about my forgotten food, the level of service fell far below what I have come to expect. Everyone has an occasional bad day, but customer service is often defined by how issues are handled after something goes wrong. In this case, I felt dismissed rather than helped. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I do not plan to return.
