Architecture & Atmosphere: The building looks like someone…read moretook a normal chicken joint and then yelled "EXTREME!" at it until it grew neon signs, flame decals, and a roof shaped like a giant chicken tender. Inside, the vibe is half sports bar, half carnival ride. Bright colors, loud music, and TVs everywhere showing either skateboarding fails or chicken-themed commercials. Employees: The staff are hyped up like they just ate a whole basket themselves. They greet you with, "Welcome to the EXTREME!" and somehow make you believe this isn't just lunch, it's an event. Service is quick, friendly, and a little chaotic -- like your food might arrive with someone ringing a cowbell. Food: The chicken strips are the main event, and they are absurd. Each one is the size of your forearm, battered so heavily that the crunch echoes across the room. Flavor levels go from "Original Crunch" to "Atomic Blast." Sides include fries, onion rings, and something called Extreme Slaw (which tastes like normal slaw but comes in a black-and-red container). Sauces are plentiful, ranging from ranch to a Carolina Reaper dip that feels like a dare. Bathrooms: Surprisingly clean for a place this wild. The stalls are decorated with graffiti-style chicken art, and the soap dispensers say "Wash your hands... EXTREME!" Mirrors have neon frames, which makes you feel like you're in a music video while fixing your hair. Extras: They have arcade machines in the corner (mostly racing and shooting games), and the napkin dispensers shoot napkins at you with way too much force. Seating is sturdy, clearly built for people who plan to eat three baskets and then collapse. Final Verdict: Chicken Strip Extreme isn't just a restaurant -- it's an experience. Loud, wild, and unapologetically over the top. You don't just eat here, you survive it.

I must say, I've become quite the "Chicken Tendies" critic as I've ventured around Jacksonville…read more Don't ask me why, I have ZERO explanation for this sudden obsession, but lately I've come to realize that not all Tendies are created equal. Enter PDQ. The Digs: Stand alone brick and mortar in upscale St. Johns County. I've eaten there on numerous occasions, and no matter what time of day I arrive, the expansive dining room is virtually spotless. The enticing aroma of fresh Chicken and crisp Waffle Fries being made to order will lead you to the counter with a sense of urgency. There's two Coca-cola Freestyle machines to ensure that no one dies of thirst. An abundance of tables and booths are situated to entertain a crowd, if needed. The Noms: Don't get me wrong, there's more to PDQ than just the Tendies (salads, milkshakes, etc.), however, my go-to order is the 4-piece meal with Waffle Fries and Toast. Up until my very first visit, I had NO IDEA how one thick, buttery, toasty piece of bread could be SO essential to this meal. If they ran out of toast I'd walk out and come back the next day, that's how dependant I am on this bread. The Tendies are fried to perfection, and elevated by my 2 dipping sauces of choice, Ranch and Honey Mustard. There's an assortment of sauces to suit anyone's taste, but those two are my besties, and I'm an unapologetic Ranch snob. The Waffle Fries are coming at you fresh out of the fryer, so you might want to wait a minute before you dig in, speaking from experience. And So: This particular PDQ is unquestionably my favorite "Tendies" spot in Jacksonville, by far. The service is quick and the staff welcome you with warm smiles and pleasantries. Definitely a must-try if you haven't already. 5 well deserved stars. Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, thanks for reading, and as always....SYOY!

I said yes. The young lady was called over to me and I asked her why she's sweeping around food & especially so vigorously and LAUREN replied, because we were busy. I told her that's not a good reason and that's something she shouldn't do and should no better. I've never seen anyone behave like this at any other Firehouse I've patronized. I then left and went elsewhere but said I would notify Corporate. Sorry but anyone especially MGMT should know you don't sweep around food and especially so vigorously as if she was outside raking leaves vigorously. DISCUSTING!

Needless to say, when I got home my order was incorrect. I had the Hook and Ladder salad and a grilled chicken salad. I tried calling the restaurant several times but the call cut off when selecting 3 to speak with a manager. $21.59 is not cheap for two salads that were not even full. It is a shame that you can't speak to someone on the phone to get the order fixed. I do not live close to the restaurant as it was on my way home.
