Lunette Modo Mio
Matthew L.

Mandola's Italian Kitchen in Mandarin offers approachable Italian dishes with generally good flavor and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu covers a wide range of classics. Portion sizes lean modest for the price point. The complimentary focaccia with oil and herbs adds to the overall experience. Service is efficient, and the dining room is clean and family‑friendly. What we had: Chopped Salad - A good tasting salad, but for $16 there was not a lot of salad. It has only two cubes of salami on it but lots of artichoke hearts and cheese. Garlic Bread - really lacked any butter/garlic, but nice and crunchy but $9 for four pieces was a little too much. I would stick with free focacio bread (they offered to bring us more) Lunette Modo Mio - enjoyed the dish but it is supposed to be stuff with meat and cheese - not sure I ever saw any meat. It has a nice cream sauce. Chicken Menichino - a small cripsy chicken breast topped with goat cheese - great taste. Has a side of pasta. We chose the red sauce and it tasted like a homemade sauce Pros: * Overall - Good overall flavor across most entrées and sides * Complimentary focaccia bread - seasoned oil plate is a nice addition - balsamic is available to add to it * Service - Friendly, efficient service and a comfortable dining environment - all the staff were friendly. All the food came out quickly, We did not have time to finish the breads before our food arrived. * Offerings - Wide selection of Italian dishes suitable for different preferences Cons: * Portion sizes feel small relative to the pricing * Garlic bread with mozzarella ($9) includes only four pieces and has minimal garlic butter I give Mandola's a 5 for flavor but a 3 for price to portion Ratio. Mandola's Italian Kitchen delivers a very pleasant dining experience with solid flavors and attentive service, making it a reliable choice for casual Italian meals in the Mandarin area.

Lovely little spot that was not really in my radar. While out shopping with a friend she suggested this place for lunch and boy it did not disappoint. When I entered I was immediately greeted by. A server who explained the pressing process. Everyone was soooo friendly. They brought out warm focaccia with herb oil. It was very delicious. I ordered the shrimp stuffed crab with pasta was amazing. I will definitely be visiting here again.

I've visited here now three times. Before write a review of a bad experience I usually like to try it again to make sure it isn't a one off. Unfortunately this still doesn't hit the mark for me. Food--5/10. The dishes offered here make me want to like this place so bad. Italian food that isn't just the Spaghetti Marinara or Fettuccine Alfredo or Chicken Parmesan definitely gets my attention. Unfortunately the quality just misses the mark. The fettuccine noodles were very past al dente and the chicken was barely warm when served and definitely sat around too long. The flavors were nice on the chicken and the pasta but the temperature and texture left a good deal to be desired. Service--4/10. On this visit the bread was so rock hard but when I tried to ask for some fresh bread (which is supposed to be always available) the dining room staff just kept walking by. It's important to know this is order at the counter and they deliver your food to your table, but they have staff in the dining room to assist with any needs. That being said flagging someone down can be challenging. The dining area was only five other tables and I couldn't get any assistance. The tables were kept cleared as people left and they take your order quick enough at the counter but the food took some time to arrive and when you can't get anything other than a hockey puck of bread, you notice that delay even more. Atmosphere--8/10. While an atmosphere is great for a pleasant dining experience, when everything else is off the mark the environment can't redeem poor food and service. Cute and quaint decor but it looses something when the main dining area is a bit crowded with the tables.

I had the pleasure of visiting Mandola's, and I have to say--this place truly exceeded expectations. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out. The manager, Obet, was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made sure our first experience felt smooth and enjoyable. That level of hospitality is rare, and it set the tone right away. The food came out quickly, which is always a plus, but what really impressed me was the quality. The focaccia bread was absolutely phenomenal--fresh, soft, and full of flavor. Paired with the oil and butter, which were both delicious, it was the perfect start to the meal. The highlight, though, was the Alfredo sauce with the salmon. It was rich, well-balanced, and easily one of the best combinations I've had in a long time. You can tell there's real attention to detail in the kitchen. Honestly, I feel like Mandola's is underrated. Right now, I would confidently say it stands above many other Italian restaurants in the area. The combination of great service, fast turnaround, and genuinely high-quality food makes it a place worth coming back to. Highly recommended--especially if you appreciate both flavor and a great overall experience. Also price for two people was only 35 dollars.

Great open airy fun place. You feel like you're outside.:) easy to order. The decor tastefully done . Loved the red and green chairs. Now for the good ...yum. The dirty pig panini was big and filled with flavor. The pizza was a thinner crust and had an abundant amount of toppings. I selected mushrooms and meatballs. The bakery to die for. Gelato, cannolis & rainbow cookies.. I didn't want to stop eating. Make it a point to visit Mandolas

The food was delicious!! You order at the counter and you can take a menu to an empty table to take your time deciding. The veggie panini was too messy for me to eat like a sandwich as the veggies fell out, but was delicious using a fork and knife. Hubby declared the chicken parm 10/10. They bring everyone a small plate of warm bread and dipping oil with herbs. The French fries were top notch, potato with crisp. We would definitely return!! Clean, friendly staff, self serve soda, tea.

Wow wow wow is all I can say! The food was amazing! Just to warn everyone you have to order at the counter unless you sit at the bar. Bartender this morning was super friendly and was telling about how all the food is made fresh in house. My wife had pepperoni and basil pizza (lunch special with soup or salad) that was so very good very thin crust! We also had an order of mozzarella sticks, so hot and cheesy! The marinara sauce was also very good 10/10! Now for the show stopper! I had the chicken parmigiana! I consider myself an expert on this particular meal. I have eaten it all over this country and in many others! This chicken parmigiana is top 5 all time! I would rate it a 4.76 out of 5. As for the ambiance the open seating area gives off cafeteria atmosphere, not in a bad way just very open! The bar was lit a little darker but still very inviting. They have great happy hour deals too from 3-6! We didn't get the bartenders name but she was so sweet and welcoming and informative of the menu. Adam, who I think is a manager, was there when they first opened (we got there as soon as they opened) and he was awesome and welcoming as well. For my score it will get a 4.45 out of five for the whole restaurant! Will be back again and soon!

Cute Italian family friendly restaurant in Mandarin. Fresh houses made Italian dishes hit the spot for lunch or dinner. The friendly and fast service was a welcome change to other places we've tried recently. We stopped in for lunch and I ordered white pizza and mista house salad my husband had soup and sandwich. Bread service was fresh and warm. Everything was very good. They're beverage station had soda and fresh brewed iced tea (sweet and unsweetened). We'll be back and next time we want to try their gelato!

Great place to take the kids. It's welcoming, bright and airy, and has a fun atmosphere. You order at the register, seat yourself, and they bring the food out to you. If you're taking home leftovers like we did, the to go boxes are by the drink fountain. It's mostly self serve outside of them bringing you your food. My kids loved the gelato. They were excited to try all the flavors. The dinner meal/food was salty. Overall, great family restaurant. Very welcoming. The staff is just wonderful! We'd most definitely go back for dessert!

Cannoli

The food is great! Not five star amazing, but very good. It's kind of an interesting restaurant. You go to a counter and order your food kind of like fast food. However, they deliver the food to your table and it is always fresh. We have eaten here several times now and we will continue to go there. They have daily specials and their food is reasonably priced. They have an in-house bakery with fresh cannolis, and everything else you would expect in an Italian restaurant . The only reason I didn't give it five stars is it has the fast food kind of vibe.

Gelato

While driving through Mandarin today looking for a place for a late lunch, the wife and I found this gem. The hostess took our orders from a broad menu of Italian dishes. The food came paced well first our large Cesars salad that had a perfect Cesars dressing, not creamy and delicious bread and olive oil. Wife had a medium sausage and mushroom pizza that looked delicious and loaded with toppings. I had a delicious Italian sandwich on a perfect roll with mozzarella, roasted tomatoes, ham, salami and prosciutto...perfectly done. Finished up with a gelato. Will visit again and very happy with our choice for our lunch.

Chicken with lemon and goat cheese and a side of fettuccine.

Walking in the door and being greeted by the sweetest hostess who explained everything about the restaurant and what to expect from our experience really set the tone. The young man at the register taking our order continued the positive attitude, allowing us to take our time, ask questions, and make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. The food runner delivered some amazing bread service with dipping oil and seasoning and then shortly after brought out of dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. The kids got gelati with their kids meals so us adults ordered some coffee and pieces of cake for the road. Everyone was soooo nice. We don't live close but we will for sure be coming back even if we have to drive there distance just to eat there with no other plans in the area!!

Down and Dirty: friendly service, fair prices and decent food Food: ordered the pizza, lasagna and chicken piccata. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The chicken dish had the pasta separate from the chicken and the pasta had red sauce which was weird to me. Every time I have ever had this dish, the chicken is on the pasta and the sauce is poured over both chicken and pasta and red sauce isn't anywhere on the dish. The flavor of both items was good, just not what I expected. Atmosphere: laid back order at the window find a seat kinda of place. They bring your food to your table once ready. There is a bar with beer and wine options and a desert bar with different gelato and pastries. Service: friendly and efficient

Chicken piccata .... Delicious.

We popped around the corner to a bar and grabbed a drink and before we knew it we were getting called. New for the food, let me preface this portion by saying our eyes were waayyy bigger than our stomachs so we ordered way too much. For starters we ordered BBQ shrimp and the Gormet pizza St Louis style. Both were delicious and perfect appetizers. For my main I got the gnocchi special, but I added sausage and mushrooms to it, which made the dish immaculate! The gnocchi on its own was good but with the extras was five stars. I also tried Mike's Alfredo and it was probably the best I've ever had. For dessert we ordered the gooey butter cake it was scrumptious! The service is also top tier! Having said that what an awesome way to end my birthday with this amazing dinner that I had at this place. One of the best Italian restaurants in Jacksonville I must say. As soon as me and my wife walked in to the restaurant we were greeted and sat right away. The ambiance of this restaurant is truly amazing and very Italian vibe. We were greeted by our server MORGAN who was fantastic from beginning to the end. She suggested some incredible stuff that as a vegetarian I tried and was just amazing. For drinks we had mojito and pinacolada which was nice and refreshing. For appetiser we were recommended with Pomodoro Caprese which was amazing especially their Pesto sauce. For my entree she suggested me Luingini Josephine which was unique and nice pasta. Morgan surprised me with a dessert which was very kind of her. Overall this family owned small business is an amazing must try Italian restaurant. I can't wait to back and try more stuff. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Initially, we were going to Coopers Hawk, but forgot we had to make a reservation a year prior. We were told a 2 hour wait! That is wild given how big the place is. But again it is a Saturday night, and people were smarter than us and made reservations, and thus we left. After giving the news to ogre she full on had a rage attack in the parking lot screaming for those classic Coopers Hawk egg rolls. While we were consoling her I heard a soothing sound coming from behind the restaurant and we landed in front of Enzo's. We were greeted by the kindest owner ever who thankfully along with the help of her staff got us in with no wait, given how packed it was.. We were greeted by a very nice waiter who seemed all over the place though. I think he was definitely new, and was forgetful at times.. Anyways! We got three apps which were all fried stuff. Fried ravioli, Fried mozzarella sticks, Fried calamari. Honestly looking back kind of gross.. but they were solid tasting! Nothing out of the park at all on the apps just your standard.. a little tasteless on the calamari, but then again I had like 3-4 pieces because the ogre consumed them.. but then I got clarification from my good buddy bezos that it was kind of tasteless. The most tastiest was the fried mozzarella! Which shouldn't happen. Onto the entrees! Actually wait side reference note I initially ordered mussels with linguini. It was the worst dish of seafood and pasta I have ever had. I literally NEVER send stuff back, like literally never.. it feels inconsiderate and I feel like a bother even if it is just a little edible I would eat it with no complaints but I literally could not. It was so fishy I am now writing this nauseous. Some of the mussels were also closed, cold or broken.. it was just very very poor and I'm mad I had three mussels. The first one was crazy fishy, but I gave it another shot and then another, because I believe in second and third chances. But no, I was grossed out. Not to mention consuming all the fried prior. I also ordered a soup that was forgotten, and didn't get my cocktail sauce, but not really an issue if the dish was made to torture people with. Eventually I did get my soup and it wasn't bad! But now onto the entrees! Bezos: Chicken francese Tragic: veal parm Ogre: Chicken parm Doctor B Wife: Chicken Caprese Me: after the swap I got Veal Parm (thanks tragic) Oh and we had some garlic bread, but it needed some sauce or added flavor with it idk.. Reviews! Ogre: The chicken was good Wife: Mid Bezos: *yawn* ummmm Tragic: Italian stallion Me: the veal was solid, but that dish was so bad before that I lost all my appetite and I am just bleh.. and our waiter seemed a little lost.. again nice guy but come on. All in all we are grateful we were taken in by Enzo's and that owner seemed like she was a hardworking person that definitely can inspire her staff. I loved the piano playing, and the environment was really pleasant. Although me personally I disagree with the food, that dish was the worst ever, and our waiter again although nice was extremely forgetful. I feel sick to my stomach and I probably am going to vomit. But thank you again you gave us a good night and a place to eat..

She ordered the El Fuego Flight of Margaritas and Sally the Blood Orange Margarita. The flight was $35 and honestly the price is fair for that. You're getting 4, 12oz margaritas all of which are different (spicy) flavors. Looks at the menu for what to get as my entree was was a lot of options I don't normally see and they sounded very good but I had to go with my staple just to she who Pepper's compares to other Mexican restaurants in the area so I went with the California Burrito with Steak. They also had it available to add shrimp for $3 so I did that too. The burrito was huge and stuffed with steak and honestly more shrimp then I expected. The steak was very tender but I wish it and the shrimp were more seasoned. I will say the shrimp were on the small side but when it's $3 that's not bad. Ashley got the a 3 Item combo one of which was a Chile Relleno and this was so good. She loved it and really changed the game for her. We will for sure be coming back. The first thing we noticed was the atmosphere. The dining room is open, colorful, and festive, but it also has a polished feel that elevates the experience a bit beyond the typical casual Mexican restaurant. It felt energetic without being overwhelming. Since we were just stopping in for drinks, we focused on exploring their tequila selection. Pepper's has a respectable tequila list, and one interesting surprise was their house tequila. The tequila itself was smooth and very enjoyable. The bottle label could use a little marketing help, but the spirit inside is excellent. We liked it enough to buy a bottle to take home. For food we ordered the Flaming Queso Dip, which turned out to be a fun and flavorful appetizer. It arrived bubbling hot and was finished with a flame presentation that added a nice smoky depth to the dish. Rich, creamy, and perfect for sharing. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We did not stay for dinner this time, but based on the atmosphere, drinks, and appetizer quality we are already planning a return visit to explore the full menu. If you enjoy Mexican restaurants with great energy, strong tequila options, and shareable appetizers, Pepper's is definitely worth checking out.
