Glad to finally have a Chick-fil-A in the area. I love the Grilled Chicken Supreme and the Mac n' Cheese. The staff are very polite.

The staff at the counter was friendly and helpful. It was fairly busy on a weekend afternoon but they seemed well staffed. Everything moved along quickly. They even had people actively keeping the dining area clean, wiped down, and tidy. That made finding a clean spot to sit so much easier during the busy lunch hour. We ordered a chicken sandwich combo and a nugget combo. One of the combos included a pie as well. Everything came out quickly and served hot. My favorite side with chicken is always mashed potatoes with gravy and these, fast food style potatoes covered in gravy, didn't disappoint! Great flavor in the gravy! The nuggets and sandwich were both very good. Not overly greasy and not buried in breading. I'm not a fan of hot pocket type pies but my husband said it was very good. A surprising chicken spot discovery while out and about.

Something that frustrates me, is I ordered the food through the app, and every single time I go to the drive thru, I have to park, when my app says it's ready. And I literally wait and extra 20 minutes from when it said it was available time. The staff is nice, but sometimes when they have me park, I don't think they are check on the order and it's literally 20 minutes of waiting because no one is paying attention.

When we walked in for a Sunday dinner, we were greeted with the smell of roasting chicken and charcoal, a promising sign from the very start. It was pretty busy inside, but after ordering at the counter, the food only took about 15 minutes to arrive. Whole Chicken Meal ($27.74) - The meal comes with two 12 oz sides, an 8oz salsa, and either corn or flour tortillas. For the sides we went with the classic Mexican Rice and the Refried Beans. Both are pretty standard stuff from a Mexican restaurant. The rice is tender with still distinct grains, has an reddish color from tomatoes, and adds a scant amount of veggies mixed through. The beans are mostly smooth throughout, fatty and creamy. We went with the corn tortillas, of which they provide a whole stack of twelve, warmed until steaming, making them hot, soft, and pliable, perfect to eat with the chicken and sides. The chicken is legitimately amazing. Basically the entire restaurant smells like chicken fat being charred over mesquite. It's a mesmerizing smell that made me salivate upon walking in. The chicken is whole roasted with the dark meat and wings being cooked until succulent and juicy. The interior of the breasts are a bit dry, but there's not much that can be done with this cooking method! Otherwise, the char is excellent, creating an almost crust-like nature to the skin and the spice mix imbues a yellow glow to the entire tray. They give so much food that we only finished perhaps a quarter of it. We ended up bringing the rest home on our drive up the next day and ate it for another couple of meals. (5/5) I especially love their salsa bar off to the side of the main counter. There's so much variety, there's surely something to please anyone. They have a mild tomato, a mild but smoky, a spicy and fruity, a green tangy tomatillo, a creamy avocado, a crunchy fresh pico de gallo, a smoky and spicy, and a tangy and spicy salsa - basically all combinations someone could ask for. Even the spiciest additions are still very tolerable to my tastes. We were impressed enough to visit again the next day for lunch: Supreme Burrito al Pastor ($14.37) - This is hefty burrito, almost Mission-sized, being around 4 inch in diameter with the weight to match. It's first filled with plenty of Mexican rice, same as with the meal. For some reason, this time, the rice is hard and tough, like they had reached down to scrape the bottom of the rice cooker. It would likely be the most coveted portion of rice in a tagine or clay pot, but in a burrito, the toughness doesn't work well. On top of the rice are the refried beans, spooned over intermittently. It adds creaminess and fat to the otherwise dry exterior layers. Then the layer of meat begins - cubed pork, marinated in a savory and sweet sauce, then mixed up with chopped pineapples. It's more adobada than al pastor, and is on the sweeter end of things with the pineapple. The spice mixture isn't the most notable; they definitely focus on the chicken at El Jefe vs. the pork. Veggies, including lettuce and a pico de gallo mix cover the meat, followed by thinly shredded cheese and sour cream, which is thick and rich, perhaps more resembling crema than cream, and some guacamole, tangy and fatty. It's not the most even application - for example, the guac only covers one end of the burrito while the sour cream covers the other end. (4/5) I have to say, the chicken served at EL Jefe Grill is perfection. I would revisit just for that. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms Note: El Jefe charges a 2.9% credit card fee. This is displayed at the register, but they have their POS set up incorrectly. Firstly, they lump the cost into the menu item instead of separating it out into a fee. Secondly, they actually charge a random fee rather than 2.9%. For example, the whole chicken meal is 3.1% and the supreme burrito is 2.7%. Very bizarre. I reported it to their management so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I had the steak and chicken bowl, and my father had the barrera tacos, and we both were very satisfied. The lunch was very affordable, which I appreciated. I look forward to trying their chicken; it looked and smelled delicious. The service was great. The guy who took our order was very polite. They gave us one of those pagers that buzzes when it's ready. The ambiance was cool. It reminded me of a taco shop in LA. It had two separate seating areas. One was large, with flat screens, and the other was smaller near the register; both were comfortable and had ample seating. This place is literally seven minutes from my house. I will most certainly be back.

Whichever order you get, you get the choice of red or green salsa, the red is molten and hot to the core! The service is always friendly, but the food, on point almost every single time. The only thing that makes me feel like I can't eat this on a weekly basis, is the oiliness that collects from the chicken? The gentleman operating the cart was very attentive, friendly and definitely knows his way around a chicken. Chicken Burrito is $16, but the portion given to me far exceeded my expectations. Quite literally the largest burrito I have ever been given. Not only was the burrito big, but it was also super flavorful and packed to the brim with rice, beans, chicken, habanero sauce (added), and it came with some spicy sauce. I ate the first half, and will save the second half for next month when I'm hungry again. All jokes aside though, a burrito is easily 2-3 peoples worth of grub. Safe to say this spot is a keeper, and I'll definitely be spreading the word to my circle.

The chicken was outstanding--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. You can tell they take pride in what they're serving because everything tasted fresh and cooked right. It's the kind of meal that has you thinking about coming back before you've even finished eating. What really stood out, though, was the customer service. Jack took great care of us from the moment we walked up to the cart. He was welcoming, professional, and genuinely made us feel appreciated. Great food brings people over, but people like Jack are what keep them coming back. I create content across multiple social media platforms, and the two videos I made about this food cart have already reached over 300,000 likes. I don't usually take the time to leave Yelp reviews, but this experience deserved one because both the food and the people behind it were exceptional. If you're in Portland and you're craving chicken, do yourself a favor and stop by. This food cart is the real deal. And if Jack's working, say what's up--you'll understand why I'll keep coming back. And to the crew behind the fryer... excuse my French, but y'all make some damn good chicken.

Considering the price point, the quality of the food, the wait time, and the service; it simply wasn't worth it. I waited upwards of 50 minutes for my food to be ready. The chicken was alright and the portion was nice, but the fries were rock solid. I sympathize with the singular person they had running the truck and on such a hot day, but he wasn't moving with the slightest bit of urgency. Several other customers who ordered before me came up to ask about their orders which were also either not ready/incorrect/incomplete after 45+ minutes. As someone with celiac I was really looking forward to enjoying something I don't typically get to eat when I go out. Instead my experience was so disappointing and frustrating, which overshadowed everything else.
