Just wanted to update my review from a few years ago and say that we still love Taste Teriyaki!! This is one of the hyperlocal family-owned businesses I was worried about during the pandemic, but they adapted, pulled through, and are still going strong! The owners are super sweet people who work so hard and always greet us with big welcoming smiles. The space is minimal and quiet when we've been lately, but I think a lot of people (us included) are placing orders to go. And I always see the DoorDash delivery drivers picking up orders when we're there. They still make a delicious chicken teriyaki, and we still love the yakisoba, the tempura shrimp. My kids still love the chicken katsu. The prices are still so very reasonable, especially compared to other restaurants right now. I'm so grateful that they are still going strong! So really, this update is to say we still love this spot, and if you're in the area, definitely stop by and support this awesome little family-owned restaurant! read more

SO GOOD. Tried this place tonight needing a quick take out dinner and was craving katsu chicken. First of all she said it would only take ten minutes so fast!! Price was amazing for the quantity of food. Two huge pieces of katsu with two sides of rice and side salad for 14.50! I can't believe the place wasn't packed. I enjoy a good value with some variety. I got the beef bento box. It came with beef, rice, potstickers, and California roll. Beef had great seasoning. Not too salty and the meat was tender. California roll was a little heavy on the rice seasoning. I suppose it's better than the alternative but I've had worse sushi. Dumplings were ok. Nothing spectacular. I liked their sauce. Ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken Bento. Place was pretty empty for a Friday night during peak dinner time, but we were meeting somewhere else afterwards and we were hungry. The lady at the register did not know very much English making it difficult to ask questions. First of all, everything was served in styrofoam containers vs plates. Even the wasabi and ginger were in little packets. Our order was not to go, so I was expecting better presentation. Secondly, my sweet and sour did not have much sauce on it and was over cooked. I ended up putting the sauce for the gyoza on my chicken to try and help it. The chicken itself was tiny portions and too much fried breading. Proportions were just not right. The California roles were ok, but clearly not just made. The dish wasn't bad but it has a lot of room for improvement. Finally, they could not serve water at all as their water was broken? We had to buy bottled water from their drink case which was a tiny bottle and $1.50 just for that. If I were the owner, I'd go to the Safeway next door and get jugs off water and serve that until the plumber comes to fix their water. That probably explains the styrofoam boxes fit everything too. Our friend is gluten free so they asked if the rolls were gluten free but clearly the rolls were wrapped in a wheat based wrapper. Overall, I found the place just average. Saturday just after 5pm and my sister and I made our way here- great affordable prices and portions! The menu isn't super long which is nice as they have a variety of options too I got the California rolls snd my sister got s chicken bento box- it came out quickly and we ate quickly too, everything was so good!! My husband had this place while I was out of town and raved about it. It was not busy at all when we arrived. Nobody else was even inside. No problem. Sometimes places generate more business through takeout. We walked in and ordered dine-in. We had barely sat down for a few minutes before our food arrived. Yes, this generally means pre-cooked food. But, hey, for pre-cooked food, it really was tasty! Several people came in after us, both for takeout and dine-in. It ended up being very busy. Everybody else's food came out in a flash too. I love not waiting forever for food, but I do like knowing (or perhaps at least being given the impression) that my food is being cooked fresh. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki. It was good and actually did have a little kick to it. My husband ordered bibimbap for a second time. He loved his too. It was enough to fill him up but not enough to have leftovers...which he always loves. But for the price, it's a good amount of food! We ordered spring rolls too. I wasn't a fan, but I'll admit, I'm a tough critic when it comes to spring rolls. I really dislike nearly all of them everywhere I go, but I always have really high hopes that they'll be excellent somewhere someday. And while they weren't gross, they weren't good either. Tasty food but the lady charged me 30% Tip without telling me. The food they gave me costed them $1.0 and charged me $9.0 plus $2.70 Tip and on top of that we couldn't eat at their table (inside or outside) but had to take the food out. Why are people paying tips for takeout? The whole reason for going out was to socialize and not to grab some plastic bag with food which I could cook at home for 10% of the price. This place like most teriyaki place is owned by Koreans. The couple are extremely friendly. The part that stands out from other teriyaki place are their beef dishes. They do not use typical teriyaki sauce, it's actually Korean Bulgogi ( traditional Korean dish). Furthermore, their kalbi is excellent (been on special $10!!!! It's would be $18.99 at Korean restaurahr). They also have bibimbop. Another traditional Korean food, mixed vegetable with meat topped with fried egg is excellent. I was pleasantly surprised when we ran into this place. It wasn't too visible from the main street as it is nestled in the back of a strip mall. The bad location is in stark contrast to the good food and huge portions. I ordered the chicken katsu which came with two very large pieces panko breaded chicken and a slightly sweet and spicy katsu sauce, a large side of rice and some steamed cabbage. All of that for $7.50. My soulmate ordered the chicken yakisoba which came loaded with fresh veggies and teriyaki chicken, the yakisoba noodles weren't over cooked and drenched in their good sauce. I have been to Taste Teriyaki many times over the past several years, as it is one of the only, and best Teriyaki joints around town. Their service is AMAZING, and the family really takes the time to get to know their customers. About a year ago, I would have rated this 5/5 stars, however, recently for some odd reason, the quality and portion sizes seem to be taking a dip, with prices actually going up. The atmosphere is nice, and with such great service, all you need to do is revert to the old, larger portions, and kick that spice up a notch again, and I will be returning regularly!! We have tried this restaurant twice and both times were unhappy with our food. The teriyaki sauce is very strange, almost tastes soapy. We thought it may have been a fluke and since it's the only teriyaki joint in Sherwood...we tried again. It was just as bad on our second attempt.
