The only reason I ordered takeout from Impact Grille on a Wednesday was to get two Eggplant Sandwiches made by the semi-retired, fabulous, talented Angerami sisters who used to own Civitellos on Jay Street in Schenectady. For the past two years, they have been operating the Grille and serving a few signature items such as their outstanding Eggplant Sandwich on their homemade thin sliced Italian Bread. The sandwich did not disappoint and satisfied a longtime craving. Angela's Beans and Greens Soup was also memorable. I was a regular at Civitellos on Jay Street since childhood. I lived nearby and remember walking there with my mother beginning at age five. Loved the lemon Ice! Their Tomato Pie is incredible! Their dough is both crispy and chewy, the tomato sauce is great, and the thin slices of fresh garlic sprinkled on the top make it the best. The Eclairs they make are delicious and big enough to share but only if you want to... It was good to find out the delicious Eggplant Sandwiches are still being served at their new endeavor. Next time I will make the time to dine in and greet the ladies.

They were crispy, but they were a bit dry and had little flavor. The tenders were fine, but they were nothing special. On the contrary, the tater tots were very good. To illustrate, the tots were crunchy, hot, and had nice flavor. In addition, the inside of the tots were nice and fluffy. However, I suggest staying away from the trivia here because of the guy who runs it. To make clear, the guy was rude and accused my group of cheating because I was on my phone. The problem is you have to use your phone to write in the answers. After my group won, he refused to give us the prize. It was very unprofessional and the guy was just an unpleasant person. Collectively, The Courtside Grille has solid food, but watch out for the trivia guy.

Not super attentive but not terrible. The orders were correct. The food. I ordered French onion soup and some sweet potato fries. The cheese on my soup was actually solidifying...it was nearly cold. It was stuffed full of badly seasoned croutons. Hardly any actual soup, and what was there was not good tasting. Honestly - I should have sent it back. But I really don't like doing that. The sweet potato fries were fine...I was unlucky again and was given the short little leftover fried sweet potato pieces, not good sized fries. It just wasn't my day. My daughter had the fish and chips special as did my friend. Again, okay, not great but not terrible. Take the soup off your menu- that would be my advice. Next time I go with wings and a salad. I do like the place and we will undoubtedly go back again. Normally a solid 3 stars but today only 2.

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.

I am looking for a location that sells a good variety of slices, has sit-down tables which you actually want to sit in (no rocking tables and dirty floors for me), and has friendly staff. We recently came here again while in the area and I rediscovered it. It is definitely the best... bar none. They expanded next door into a location previously used by H&R Block, and the increased dining space is wonderful. The variety of slices they had at lunch is staggering, and not just the usual suspects either. They had eggplant lasagna pizza; chicken Fra Diavolo pizza with hot peppers (yum!); mac & cheese pizza with or without Buffalo chicken; salad pizza; etc. All looked good, and my Fra Diavolo pizza has become my favorite here. Of note: their Hawaiian pizza is a white pizza (no sauce), which is extremely unusual, but they provided a cup of sauce on the side which restored balance to the galaxy. I should point out that every Italian restaurant has their own style of red sauce: some are too acidic, some are too salty, some are too heavy with dried herbs, and some don't use enough. This place has a sauce which is similar to my Grandmas (the best!), and it is salty and acidic and oily and delicious. I could see myself parking in a chair one afternoon with a good book and slowly trying slice after slice. Since we live only about 20 minutes away, I think I will need to make the trek up to here more often.

Yesterday for lunch I grab a…read moreslice of 2 Coming in hot with a 3.5-star rating, this spot almost hits that elite tier--but there are a few things holding it back from greatness. First off, presentation and crust game? Solid. You're getting a good bake, decent structure, and slices that hold their own. Not floppy, not overly stiff right in that respectable middle lane. That's a win. Now let's talk about the sauce... because this is where things get mixed. Taking a look at some of the chatter on Yelp, there's a noticeable trend and I've got to agree. The sauce is inconsistent. Some bites hit with a nice tang and balance, but others feel either a little too sweet or lacking depth. It doesn't always punch through the cheese like you want it to. For a place trying to compete in the pizza game, sauce consistency is everything--and right now, it's just not elite. Cheese and toppings are good--not mind-blowing, but definitely respectable. No complaints there. Quality is there, just not standout.

Three items ordered, fabulous choices. Steamed pork Bao which came in a 3 piece dim sum basket. The dough was wonderfully soft and fluffy texture expected of a good bao dough. The pork in the bao was generously seasoned and the ratio of pork to dough was fantastic. Very surprised with the soup dumplings with their filling. Ratio of filling to wrapper was excellent, again well seasoned, with a very savory soup. I really enjoyed the fried noodles with chicken. The noodles were enough for two people, and if I'm using the word generous too often ,it's because the amount of food in the bowl was unreal. The noodles were Al dente and bouncy, the chicken was seasoned with a sweet herbal taste. I wouldn't come back to order it here. I would come back to try some of the other things on the menu though. Maybe they need to expand slightly beyond ramen? Or put more fresh ingredients in their ramen to make it more exciting snd appealing to eat on it's own. I don't love it when it's just noodles and corn like the cup of noodles that you buy at the store in those styrofoam cups. Kind of a let down.

The store also offers a small selection of cute gift items and party decor. I miss the marble cake that used to be a permanent flavor but my absolute favorite is the chocolate chocolate chip (choc cake with choc chips and their signature cream cheese frosting).
