I have been through a few Chick-fil-A's but something about this one staff made my night. I always love the food here because their Chicken sandwiches are so crispy and moist, and I also get the Spicy Southwest Chicken Salad. So it was a late night and there were no one at the drive-thru. When we went through an employee with a cheerful tone welcomed us. His voice startled my partner but to me it felt nice. When I asked what dressings they had, instead of telling me that it was on the board he just listed it for me. When we were done with our order my partner said that the employee was too happy at his job which just made me laugh but I think it was a nice change. Great food and great service. We usually only go through the drive thru, because we use the Chick-fil-A app to get points. It's great because they don't start making the food until you check-in at the drive thru so the food is always fresh. If you want to eat at the restaurant though, good luck because it's a cluster. If the Chick-fil-A parking lot is full then you'll have to park way far away as you can't park in the parking lot next to Chick-fil-A because it is owned by Ashley Furniture. We have driven by on several occasions where people were told to park somewhere else by the Ashley furniture security guard in the parking lot. read more

Theo at the window was really nice. I really hope Jared at the drive through was in traing because he didn't understand what we were asking for. We had to say the order about 3x and then we asked if we could scan the app and he just stared at us for a minute then took our card. Then we asked if it was to late to scan the app and he just stared at us again. The food was good though. We got a Cobb salad and a large nugget meal. We were given a medium fry but that's okay. The hype is real, y'all. This Chick-Fil-A is top notch. Especially if you've got a little one. The kids meal options are great! (Like, so great you don't feel guilty feeding your kid fast food). I usually get my daughter the grilled nuggets, and the fruit cup as a side. This location is so clean, they provide high chairs, placemats & sanitizer hand wipes. The service is always great and super friendly. The drive through line is actually so great. They have employees standing in the drive through line and they personally hand you a menu & ask what your name is. Chick fil a is a fave of ours. We're from Texas and every chick fil a we've ever been to in Texas has had great costumer service. That's what we've come to expect from chick fil a. But this location in Tacoma Washington has no clue what great costumer service is. I'd compare this location to a McDonald's. Rude employees, not personable, dead inside, childish, unprofessional, robotic, and over all ill trained. I blame management. Everyone looked just as zombie-like as the other so I couldn't tell who was in charge. Well finally I got to eat on one of these! Didn't know was the only one location but it shows how popular it is! We came into look for some other goodies but that's a separaste review. Here's my two cents of he hype: PROS: Helpful and friendly staff. From the Gal on the register taking our order, patience and willing to acomódate our needs, to the guy on the dining area asking if we wanted a refill on our limonares...that was surprising and a nice impression for us. The fries were really good! I had to take some squats if that chick A-fila sauce, so yummy! We appreciated the playground as it gave my husband and I a chance to relax a bit on our meal! Gotta love the card game that came on the children's menu, encouraging to interact to one another during the meal. Clean bathrooms. And nice instrumental worship music on the background. We were blessed with a spot just out the door in front of the store; I'm agree with people commenting in the long line of the drive through and the business of the parking lot but we didn't had any issue arriving or leaving. CONS: Even if I lived the fact that the limonade is freshly squeeze is was really sweet for my taste, I had to ask for a cup with water to make it drinkable, I'm very positive that you can get two out of just one drink. My boyfriend and I came at dinner rush. We waited in line for literally a few minutes before we were greeted by the cashier. "Joey" was friendly and easy to talk to. I was alittle overwhelmed with the amount of people in the establishment due to a birthday party in the back. His smile and friendly deminer made it easy to over come. We dined in however I noticed that the drive thru line was wrapped around the building. This location had a play area for kids. I had dinner there, tonight, and this was the first time I've ever eaten at ChickFilA. I had the chicken wrap meal, which came with a drink and waffle fries. My friend had the standard chicken sandwich. My wrap was pretty good, and the fries were great. But that chicken sandwich my friend ordered? It was just a tired-looking chicken patty with two forlorn pickle slices surrounded by a soggy bun. No other trimmings. My friend said the chicken was dry and tasteless, and had to slather on some honey mustard sauce to give it flavor. Inexcusable. You can get better chicken sandwiches at AM-PM for a lot less money. Yes, we know whomever was responsible for selecting this location on South 38th & Steel St. should be slapped with a open hand but maneuvering to this location is not as bad as it seems. Just make sure your coming off South 38th st heading towards the Tacoma Mall. You are not going to be able to make a left turn into Chick-fil-A from Steel St with the South 38th st main intersection in front of you. Go ahead and try but your gonna get some serious road rage coming from other hungry-bound Chick-fil-A patrons with low-blood sugar thinking your trying to cut in front of them. Not that I tried doing this in person because I already know since elementary school to get in line like everyone else and wait my turn. Just observation on my part. It seems everyone played nice and was following the flow. Just don't be the one that jacks it up. You know how us peeps with diabetes and low blood sugar get. We get nasty! We will slap you with a closed fist! Remember the old story of the husband with two black eyes? Yeah, he was told twice by the wife! Highly recommended is the Spicy Chicken Deluxe sandwich. It has a good bite to it but it may be spicy for a few souls out there. Your looking at $10 per person and maybe $7 for a small child. Also had the 3pc chicken strips. It was bomb! The butter milk ranch was bomb! Dining in or using drive-thru service has it's advantages but I've decided to dine in. I cannot believe I just stood outside of this chick filet (owned by Lynnae Schneller near Tacoma Mall) in line for 20 minutes just to walk up to a door with a table and employee who refused to take my order. She and her manager insisted that I download the chick filet app and order through it. I explained that I didn't have a phone and since I was standing in the restaurant talking to a human being who worked for Chick Filet, I should have been able to order food, pay and leave. There's also NO sign outside to indicate that they don't take orders inside. The manager was so nasty, I literally emptied my pockets so that he could see that I didn't have a phone to download an app. I CAN'T BELIEVE, this type of customer service is happening at Chick Filet!!! I admit that I am a Chick-fil-A fan and I was stoked to hear we finally got them in WA. It took me a minute to finally make it here, the stories of the long lines made me wait it out for a bit. I finally made it over and the lines weren't too crazy but it was packed inside. Typical Chick-fil-A here but so nice to be able to go without hopping on a plane. Even when it's packed service was fast and didn't lack in the customer experience dept. They were friendly and weren't rushy which was nice. There is also a good amount of seating and the turnaround was fast so finding a table was easy. The food was what I would expect at a Chick-fil-A, good and chicken lol. I went with their normal chicken sandwich and of course their waffle fries. I was real glad to see they have their honey roasted bbq sauce still, cuz that ish is crack to me. I think my next trip will involve their little chicken breakfast bites cuz those are pretty bomb too, almost better than their regular sandwiches. We happen to be driving home talking about what we would like to eat for dinner and crusing by we realized Chick-fil-A had NO line??? What? So we drove around the corner trying to figure out how to enter the place since all surrounding locations had cones set-up? Only a few cars were in front of me when we pulled up and super friendly girl approached our vehicle and handed us a menu. This was a very smart idea on Chick- fil- A's part. Long lines and long wait times today and while i wasnt first 100 still get my chicken here!! And its as yummy as i remember it. Its so good you have some person here (We all know who you are!!)doing fake check ins and already has 6 check ins before it even opened! Thats how good this place is. I was very impressed on how they keep the line moving when I came here, it was wrapped around the Ashley Furniture store, but the people and the police had the line moving at good speed, I was in the drive through line probably 10 minutes. (no longer then 15) they had menus they were giving out to people in the line and a person that would take your order-kinda what Dutch Brothers in Vancouver,WA does. The food I thought was pretty good, scale of 1-10 Id give it a 8, I personally dont like Coke, so I guess when I come here it will be either a shake or root beer. I do agree with Bigd that the location could have been chosen better, the corner of 38th and Steele is VERY busy BEFORE this place came in, as its between the Tacoma Mall and Costco and the main road after you get off of I-5/ Overall, not sure when I will be back, but I will be back, maybe when the hoopla dies down some. I had a hard time deciding between 4 and 5 stars. I thought about taking off a star for the tiny, helter skelter parking lot but decided to keep it. On the up side, it's easy to park at the furniture store and walk an extra few feet. Today was the second day they were open and the wait inside was only about 10 minutes, then about another 10 for food. They seem to have a pretty good system for moving the crowd along. The food was just as good as I remember. I tried their diet lemonade, sweet tea (took home a gallon) chicken minis, chicken biscuit, chicken sandwich and coleslaw (not all consumed at once, Lol). I liked that the were serving the whole menu at 9:30 so I could take some home for later. They also gave out a sample of a warm chocolate chip cookies which were ah-mazing! I will be back often (despite the parking situation). read more

I don't mean to give this 3 stars meaning it is a bad place to go. Yelp labels their 3-star choice as "A-OK" and that's really an accurate description in my opinion. 4 is "Yay! I'm a fan.", and 5 is "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" and nope, those just aren't true no matter the reputation that precedes their chicken sandwiches. A-OK was my experience. I asked the lady standing at the drive through what she would recommend to a first timer. She gave a few choices and I thought for the best representation of having eaten there I would go with the #1 which is a chicken sandwich meal. When I got it out of the bag, I found it was a breaded chicken breast on a bun with two pickles. No sauce, no lettuce or tomato. I'm sure those would have been options had I known to order them separately, maybe I needed a Chick-Fil-A veteran to walk me through my first time there. The chicken was good, that's really what it's all about anyway right? It was a whole chicken breast, so that's why you might see pictures of their sandwiches with a fat, 1 inch piece of chicken in there. But my sandwich's chicken breast was very skinny (1/8 inch?) on most of it until you got to one side where it fattened up a little. Like I mentioned earlier, it was good chicken, not magically delicious. Good like KFC is good, but without the fatty layer that's all over KFC even after you pull the skin off (icky). Chick-Fil-A chicken is just the chicken and crispy breading that stays on and doesn't crumble off - bonus points there. The bun was exactly like the buns on McDonalds cheeseburgers. I happen to like those flat, squishy buns, so that worked for me just fine. The two pickle slices were pickle slices as found anywhere they serve pickle slices. I was very happy with the flavor of the waffle fries. Maybe that's because I wasn't told so often of how AWESOME their fries are, so it was a pleasant surprise and I wasn't going in with any skepticism. They were soft and crispy at the same time and had a light seasoning to them that I liked. The #1 with a Sprite was $7 and change. So, typical fast food prices nowadays... (unless it's Taco Bell or a $1 menu). I would say, you should go there some time when you're really in the mood for chicken. And bring a veteran along to give you advice on how to doll up your sandwich the best way possible. read more

We have been curious about Chick-Fil-A after reading all the publicity and finally got to experience it. This was our second try since we came down (25 minute drive) only to find they are closed on Sunday. Anyway after fighting the parking - we arrived. They put it in a very bad parking situation with the drive up blocking the people trying to park and people leaving the drive up causing issues with those in the parking lots. Next we found out it is NOT a chicken place but a chicken sandwich place (we were expecting a restaurant similar to Popeye or KFC) - our mistake. Finally get up to the counter and see they do not have special outfits or uniforms. Apparently they can wear Seahawks shirts. Now first of all - I am not a Seahawk fan. Second you can't tell who is a server and who is a customer. The store policy is the servers will come around and if you need a refill - they will provide it for you. After waiting patiently for a server to come - finally spotted one and I asked her - only to be told rudely - she was a customer - how would I know - she was also wearing a Seahawk shirt. I will say the Chicken was juicy and tasty - which is why they received 2 stars. I do not like that I have to put my own condiments on the food - don't they know how to make a sandwich? I hate having to squeeze the little tubes. The restaurant looks like a cafeteria with not much appeal and is extremely noisy. Not a place to enjoy lunch and relax. I appreciate their Christian support but parking is bad, no professionalism with uniform or at least similar outfits, noisy and simplistic but not comfortable feeling and have to finish your own sandwich - not for me. read more

I have really missed Chick-fil-A, We are a military family and we had one right across the street when we loved in NC, so I was used to going by on the way to work or having dinner there when the kids schools had family nights.....this Tacoma location is just like all I have ever been to. Five stars for a fast food joint....preposterous? No. Excellent chicken, waffle fries and awesome service combine to give a fast food place a top rating. Almost deducted a star for the parking lot, but it looks like the neighbors are haters. They have put up printed signs that their lot is for their use only. First, I got a regular chicken biscuit, great flavor, real chicken meat and a good biscuit. Then I got a spicy chicken sandwich, not very spicy, but still good flavor and fresh. Love the Chick-fil-A sauce smothered on everything. The ketchup packets are even cool, dip or squirt, your choice. The lemonade was nice and tart, they only use lemons, sugar and water in it. What also seals the deal is the customer service. All employees were helpful and friendly, the girl refilling drinks was on the ball and smiling. We finally made it to Chick-fil-a and I see why people are so excited! We wanted to wait until the initial craze wore off, but were surprised to see just how busy they still were even after being open for more than a year! Prepare yourself for lengthy lines (both drive-through and indoors), but the lines move really fast so don't worry. The indoor dining area was busy, but kept very clean and the young ones really enjoyed the play area. To keep it simple, I tried the deluxe chicken sandwich and sweet tea. Both were really good and lived up to the hype I had been hearing. The coating on the chicken was great and the sweet tea lived up to all expectations as well. I'm very much looking forward to my next chance to eat here. I honestly hope that they open more locations in the area. I'd appreciate a closer location and would hope that it would help to shorten the lines as well. read more

So much hype and traffic problems about this place and I am very underwhelmed with the final product. I can not stress enough how there is absolutely nothing special about this place. It's your average fast food joint. Plain and simple. The chicken sandwich was average, not bad, not great... Wendy's is better. The chicken strips are good, but pretty small for the price. The waffle fries are undercooked, which I hear is common with this place. Could be just because they are in a hurry as it is still very busy here, but still, after waiting in line for 5 minutes... another minute in the fryer wouldn't hurt. The parking lot is a hot mess and these people picked the worst location in tacoma to open any new business, let alone a place that was expected to be this busy. This is easily one of my favorite fast food restaurants and I've been coming to this location for months now. (Sometimes driving for at least an hour since I live quite a bit away). However tonight's experience has absolutely disgusted me. I ordered fries and a frosted lemonade and everything was fine until I took a sip from my lemonade and felt something hard. Normally it's a seed from the lemons they use except this time it felt different. I decided to spit it out into my hand to look at it and came to find out it was a fingernail someone ripped off of their hand.
