    The counter - June 2019
    Gail R.

We ventured to this location because the one closer to us had less stars (Yelp). Plus, I decided to come here as it had recently opened. I noticed there were several parking spots on the street. Asign nearby said 2 hours - I assumed that meant it was free as there is no meters or parking machines nearby. The part of this location facing the street is somewhat enclosed - they have several outdoor seating where each table has its own umbrella for cover from the sun. Christian, one of the employees, helped us to open up one of the outdoor umbrellas. There are 2 entrances to get in or out of this location - one facing the street and one at the left side (if facing the store). Once inside, you will discover there are only a few tables inside (I think I saw 2 two-seaters, 1 four-seater and 1 six-seater table) and ample space to order your food and wait until it's ready. As I stood at the counter to order, I had my chick-fil-A app out (ready to use), but was informed that I can't use it because it is a college location (it is by William and Mary College). I ordered anyways because we were already there. We mainly dealt with one of their employees, Christian. Some in our party ordered meals while some did not (at the time we ordered, there were not a lot of patrons in this store). We tried the "Strawberry Passion Tea Lemonade" which is Limited and enjoyed by those in our party that drank it. It is only served in the Large size (don't be thrown off if you receive it in a small cup). I also got to try their Strawberry Milkshake (first time having that flavor at one of the locations) and I enjoyed it (they accidentally made a milkshake, so that is how I got it). Their milkshakes are served in the large foam cups here (not clear ones which I am used to). You do only get one size which is at all locations. Food was good (never been to a location yet where I didn't like my food). Service was great.

Great on campus dining option, but not as tasty as a traditional chick-fil-a franchise.

The 1st time I came across Super Chix was in 2023 for a Yelp event when they opened up. Let's see if the trend continues. We were greeted by the staff when we walked inside. They had a good crowd inside for a Sunday afternoon which is a good thing. The decor looked spotless from what I could tell and TVs were showing sports from different leagues. Both of us had to order from the booth before getting seated where they'll deliver your food via a number. My selection was 4 chicken tenders and fries topped with rosemary pepper seasoning. And I chose buttermilk ranch and Korean BBQ sauces for dipping. Everything was delicious. The tenders were hot and cooked perfectly and the fries had proper seasoning. Truly made my belly get full before I finished. Thanks again Super Chix for having yours truly satisfied during lunch. You guys will continue to be a choice the next time we're in the area :)

Now what is what could use improvement: The juice from the mandarin oranges was in the salad bowl and not enough cashews or wontons for that crunch factor. We have not not dined, or even spent much time at CW since the pandemic. After a hike behind Bassett Hall my wife and I enjoyed lunch. We arrived at noon and were promptly seated in an empty room. Around 20 minutes later the first floor was full. The atmosphere was cool and authentic. Nothing has changed since my previous visit. Our friendly waitress got menus and waters. I started off with an Apple Jack Old Fashioned utilizing Virginia Gentleman bourbon. We reviewed items on the menu that may have been served in the period. We started with apps. I got a salad, or "To Make a Fine Sallet". My wife crab croquettes. They pushed out first and we enjoyed. For mains. I got the pork shank, or "To Stew a Shoat in the French Way". My wife had "Chicken Hash", it was like a thick soup. The plating was beautiful and the taste matched. The old fashioned was disappointing because it was so weak. Service was decent, but not much attention. For dessert I got the bread pudding and wife chocolate tart. Both were outstanding! The bill was dropped on the table. It was around $150 w/ tip. Although pricey we had fun and felt like tourist just an hour from home. I would recommend.

I came here with my parents and girlfriend as a way to cap a nice day of introducing her to them and I was unpleasantly surprised by the visit. Despite the fact that you cannot park in front of the establishment , there was very little signage in the back to route you to where you needed to be to reach the host stand. Once we got there, there was some awkward interaction from the hostess to get us seated, and we reviewed our menus. We all opted for the peanut soup ($10 each) as an appetizer, and my girlfriend and I opted for the Roast Duck ($50 each) and my parents both opted for the Salmon with crab on top ($59 each). While the peanut soup was excellent (and available elsewhere), the roast duck was flavorless, the accompanying vegetables cold, and the mashed potatoes were not enough to save the entree. The "free" Sally Lunn bread and cornbread were quite nice, though again not enough to save the meal, nor was the bread pudding. My parents told me they liked the salmon meals but without sampling it I have to take their word for it. I risk seeming ignorant here so to be clear: I have enjoyed a number of elevated meals where the high prices were entirely justified by the quality of food, level of service, and upscale atmosphere. King's Arms failed in every respect: the food was middling at best, the service was okay but failed to make enough callbacks to avoid running out of water, and the ambiance was spoiled by a large party with eight children they decided to seat in the middle of the room, thereby ensuring a loud distraction for everyone. While this was indeed an interesting experience from a historical perspective, it is utterly unfit to charge the prices it does and I strongly recommend against coming here. The extra star is for the soup, definitely seek out the peanut soup (but do it somewhere else). Overall: 2.0 stars ---- Pros: - The peanut soup is excellent, as is the Sally Lunn bread - The historical experience of dining where those in antiquity have is quite cool. Cons: - By fine dining standards, the rest of the fare here is laughably bad. - The service is decent but nowhere near where it should be given the airs they put on. - Prices are exorbitant and horrifying to anyone with an eye for value. - Directions and parking are an additional pain point. - If you know you have a large party of children, plan seating accordingly. This is an awful way to ruin the experience of everyone else who is paying a lot to be here.

We are a middle aged couple, and sometimes when we have the kids with us we review from that perspective as well. We were traveling for Thanksgiving and they had a pre set menu for $48 a person which included an appetizer of Winter soup, the main dinner and as amazing! The turkey was cooked perfectly, not dry! The stuffing was to die for, the mashed potatoes full of creamy flavor, and don't get me started on the collard greens! Just give me the whole pot!! They KNOW how to do collards. The desert was also very good, pumpkin pie with butter pecan ice cream. Overall the place was great, my only issue was that you had to make a reservation (which I get) but we didn't have one and figured we would try anyway. So we walk in and ask if there is any available seats... mind you I saw like 4 full open tables, a long high top table with 10-12 seats available... she looks at her list and starts counting, asks if I'm ok with a high top, I say yes, so we take the seats at the long table that seats like 12 as a shared table. So were there for a little over an hour and not one of those available tables when I walked in were used. I am not sure if they have in place where if your 10 minutes late for your reservation then you forfeit your table. Because paying customers would have liked that table. But the food was amazing and that made up for it. With tip, Thanksgiving dinner was about $149 for 2 people.

While the bun was tasty, and it was served hot, the burgers tasted like frozen burgers, were relatively small, and were served "plain" -- without lettuce, tomatoes, or any other add-ons. The hot dog was tasty, served with chili, mustard, and raw onions though the mustard was a bit heavy for my taste. Crinkle fries tasted fresh, and were hot, but a bit over-salted.
