    Manul Ganjang Chicken Wings
    William W.

It's hard to believe a Korean restaurant this good, this close to what I've eaten in South Korea, exists in the tiny town of Opelika, Alabama. CCPP offers a tremendous array of authentic Korean cuisine as evidenced by the all-Asian clientele when we visited. The Menbosha appetizer is amazing, this thick buttery toast filled with shrimp and then deep fried. Koreans are known for their spectacular fried chicken, and this place serves up some magnificent varieties! The regular fried chicken is a fabulous compliment to its southern location, with crispy batter and hot, tender chicken just like American southerners and Koreans like it. The yangyum fried chicken (often referred to in Korea as Yangnyeom) is coated in a sweet and spicy sauce, with just enough heat while being deeply complex and sugary. The Manul Ganjang chicken wings are beautifully rich in a garlic soy sauce reminiscent of a quality teriyaki. It's truly a unique stop in Opelika.

I stopped by today to try the lunch buffet. At $13.99 (tax and tip pushed it over $16.00) it was budget friendly. My water was at the table by the time I returned from the 1st trip to the buffet. After that I didn't see a server until I paid at the counter. There were many new flavors for me. I enjoyed most of them. Like everything else since I got over COVID, nothing was adequately salted (that's on me, not on them) I got full and enjoyed it. My only constructive comments are be a little more attentive with service - check on me once. More importantly figure out how to hold the buffet offerings that should be warm/hot at an appetizing temperature. That was the problem that prevented me from leaving 5 stars and will be a factor as I decide whether to return or not.

The food here is more Korean based than I realized. That is not a bad thing! Come hungry and be ready to eat a nice selection of dishes. Their menu is large! The real winners for me here were the: Bean sprouts banchan. Crunchy and nutty. I was so good I asked for seconds The kimchi. Just the right amount of spice and fermentation The chicken. Now when you order the wings or just plain chicken the serving size is 20 pieces. It was so much. I wish I hadn't ordered any other food but I guess now I know if i ever go back.. I also had the cheese chicken which was served piping hot. So much goey cheese and flavor.Which I would order again. The only food item I did not care for was the seafood pancake. It was so oily and a little undercooked which made it seem like seafood dough. The consistency was undesirable.

    Everything is amazing

How am I just now writing my first review on Chickchickporkpork?! We moved here this past December and when we decided to try this Korean joint, o m g, we fell in love and have been back regularly (as you can tell by all of the photos) When I say this restaurant takes me back to my days in Korea, it 100% does I'm going to keep this review short and sweet or at least try to. The inside of the restaurant is clean. Every time I went, it was pretty busy minus one time when I went during lunch. The service is amazing. I think the owner or the manager there is very attentive. Like if you look like you're looking for assistance or look annoyed that you're waiting a while, he will check on you and your needs It's customer service like this that makes me want to throw my money at a restaurant (and of course because of their amazing food). My top recommendations are: 1) Yangyum chicken which is basically spicy fried chicken that comes with some cubed pickles 2) Dokpokee spicy rice cake that comes w a boiled egg, it's so good 3) Tonkatsu for those that don't like spicy food, it's fried pork with a special sauce, with rice and a side of cabbage salad I've also had the bulgogi, japchae, and seafood soup which were all very good. But I keep coming back for the 3 recommendations Hope this helped!

Truly a 6 out of 5. Nothing but good things to say (heart eyes) This Restaurant is known for their Korean fried chicken. They boast that KFC doesn't compare. I was hoping they didn't if they were known for their fried chicken!! What we ordered: We got the three mixed flavors of chicken that they had and the Kimchi rice. Favorite chicken flavor was the tangy one (Green). Whoa!! The sweet one (red) was good too! I was amazed by everything honestly! Even after they put this delicious sauce on the fried chicken, the chicken still stays crispy. No sogginess. Awesome! They're very generous with the portions, too! The test: was the fried chicken better than KFC? You'll forget what KFC is after you try this chicken. Atmosphere: what an eclectic little restaurant! When my bf and I walked in, we actually did a tour around the restaurant first because it was so neat! We are DIYers, so we were mesmerized by how many fixtures they actually seemed to make themselves versus buying them. You'll see what I mean when you go visit. Cutely minimalistic! Customer service: Phenomenal! I'm not sure if the owner was serving us, but he was very knowledgeable, honest, and friendly! Another woman who was there hosting was just as sweet! If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask them. They seem like they want to make their customer's experience as pleasant as possible! Would I recommend? Absolutely! Will I be back? Yes! Great spot to stop at if you're traveling west of ATL airport.

If you are in or within 50 miles of this establishment and have an ounce of sense in your brain do not pass by without going here and eating as much chicken as you can fit in your body! Sometimes I exaggerate for comedic effect but this is not one of those times. I have eaten a lot of chicken...I have eaten a lot of really good chicken. This chicken is easily one if not the best that has ever crossed my lips.

One of my favorite Korean places in Auburn! Inside is very spacious and parking is decent outside. They have a bar upstairs and the staff are so friendly and nice. Their Korean fried chicken are so crispy and delicious and the Ttoebokki is addicting and spicy! If it's your first time, the Cheese Buldak is a must get (not pictured but you won't regret it)! Food portions are huge and definitely shareable.

Best Korean beef I've had in a very long time. Great deal for $8.99. Service was also fantastic! Will definitely go again.

The architecture and the staff, from the moment you step through the door, knock it out of the park. The Garden dining room is hands down my favorite spot I've had lunch at in the Auburn/Opelika area. The time and energy invested in creating that environment doesn't go unnoticed, and it shows in every detail. Environment and service define a dining experience. Food plays a huge role too, of course, but if you're already on edge from an underwhelming atmosphere or inattentive staff, it's hard to fully enjoy a meal no matter how good the food is. This place nails all three: ambiance, service, and food. I also love that the menu is handcrafted and changes with the seasons. It keeps things fresh and gives you a reason to keep coming back. I've been maybe half a dozen times now, and every visit has been enjoyable and unique in its own way. The flavor combinations on paper may sound odd to some but trust them. The food has always been incredible.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better bathroom east of the Mississippi. All the folks who work here are super friendly and wear nice outfits. We ate at the market because my wife didn't make a reservation at the real restaurant. If you eat outside in the summer, it's obviously hotter than satan's armpit. Prepare to sweat. My smash burger was spot on. I thought maybe the beef could stand alone better with less accompaniment. My wife's BLT was light and refreshing. I'd get that next time. You should most definitely try Botanic. This note is for the owner/management, if you read these. The place need some process improvements. It's confusing for a first time guest because of the flow patterns and dearth of signs. The waiters from the Market have to walk all around the place to find the right table to deliver food. It's inefficient. There has to be a better way.

Fried green tomatoes- wasn't the biggest fan of pimento cheese, but if that's your thing I'm sure it would have been delicious. I had the strawberry / spinach salad. It was decent but a little too much dressing on parts and a bit dry in others. The biscuits were a star of the other meal. Sadly, no lattes... the only other bummer was that the waiter forgot my cocktail. He apologized when I asked for it... I know accidents happen

I believe it effected some of the flavors of foods that were boiled in it, too. Gnocchi had some of the same off flavor. In addition, some of the flavors just feel way out of whack for totally unrelated reasons. Sauce that the duck came in was thin and overwhelmed by honey. The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Ingredients seem like they're decent quality. Desserts are legitimately top notch. Everyone recommends the peanut butter pie. And it is excellent, though pretty obviously not long out of the freezer. The affogato Is legitimately fantastic. And I'm not even talking about the pageantry of dumping the espresso on the salt ice cream. The combo is legitimately satisfying, like a well-rounded creamy candy. The plates are funky and cool and beautiful. The staff all seem like they're 19, attractive, and gregarious.

There's a sweet vibe going on with some music in the back, but it's not too loud where you can't hear your own conversations at the table. The food? Chef's kiss. They have a rotating menu, I think depending on the season/time of year, but they have some consistent all-year-round items on the menu. I first came here on Valentine's weekend with my boyfriend, and absolutely loved it. Couldn't stop thinking about their truffle parm fries, nor their milk and cookies- finger licking good. This time around, we got the Farmer's Daughter (which made my usually anti-veggie boyfriend absolutely love btw), half-dozen Gulf Coast oysters, and fall-off-the-bone lamb shanks. Let me start by saying the building is beautiful and the atmosphere feels like a nice restaurant. Also, the cocktail menu was definitely curated by someone who knows what they are doing. Our food came out lukewarm at best and honestly seemed like not a lot of thought went into them. I know that this restaurant is supposed to be upscale, but I don't think I should pay 55$ per persons meal and still leave hungry. Also, the staff needs training. The whole time it felt like they were concerned with fast turn over and nothing else. Part of upscale dining is that the price of food and quality of service is more important than turn over time. Generally speaking I will not be back to eat here again.
