    Falafel Wrap
    Jordan C.

(No longer named Chickeatah') now Gyro and Kebab. My husband was tasked with procuring dinner last night, so he stopped in on his way home to get some takeout. I will be honest, this location has changed from various restaurants over the last decade and I was skeptical. I was wrong. He said the staff was friendly inviting and seemed like a close knit family business. But even better the food was delicious. My husband got got a Gyro and I got a falafel wrap. We also shared a side of stuffed grape leaves, tabulih and french fries. Everything was delicious and fresh. I would order everything again. The side sauces they gave us were also a delicious addition. The hidden gem of the meal was my son's freshly baked pizza. The cheese was especially perfectly salty with the exact ratio of sauce to cheese necessary for pie perfection and the dough was also freshly made. We were all raving about how good the little individual pizza was. My 10 yr old ate 4 slices! We will definitely be putting this spot on rotation for takeout.

We stopped at this place after pickleball one day because my girlfriend and I were craving gyro meat. It's a little chill spot with just a few tables that you order at the counter. A chill guy took our order. Didn't realize this was a Be Nice establishment. They never fail to impress. We loved our gyros. They gave us 3 different sauces without even asking. Big fat pita stuffed with succulent meat. Perfect place for a quick bite. Not unreasonable prices. Around 14 bucks a person for what we got. Fries were really good.

Fantastic Turkish place just across a side street from Home Depot. Just ask my partner: any excuse works for going to Home Depot...when he hears that I'm going g to Home Depot he places his kabob order with me. 5 star food: their Turkish specialties are unbelievably good. These folks really know what they're doing. There are a few other items like pizza and burgers 5 star service: the staffers are incredibly friendly. They're happy to explain anything. 5 star ambience: outside and inside are basic and clean, but anyone who works in a sly reference to banana brands and eating gets 5 stars.

Food was good. I can see myself eating this food as a flavorful post work out meal. Meat is grilled. I had the Turkish meatball plate. It was pretty good portion sized too. I also had the feta rolls. It was a little herby which almost kind of feels like a spinach and cheese kind of vibe. I ate it with the yogurt sauce. All good food.

Absolutely love this place! If you are craving Mediterranean style food that's the place to go! Best one in the Laudy area. Food is fresh and prepared after you order. None of that frozen BS. So much flavor! The staff is super friendly and helpful in case you are not sure what to get, hehe Plenty space to sit inside while enjoy the amazing food! The only thing that I wish was better is parking but you can park across the street at Home Depot! We will be back for sure! Probably next week, haha

The food here is very good. And we enjoyed what we had. The name of the place is a bit deceptive as there is a rooster in the logo on the side of the building. I'm sure many people driving by think this is another chicken place. Although they do have chicken kabobs, it's really a Turkish restaurant. However, when my husband greeted the gal behind the register with a hello in Turkish, her reaction was huh?! Turns out she is Russian. And the gal working the grill/cooking the food in the back didn't appear to be Turkish either. We had been to this building before when it was another restaurant. We were familiar with the fact that there is very limited parking nearby. Behind the restaurant is one handicapped spot and three other spaces. They are also doing construction on the streets in the area so that makes it a bit harder. We can understand now why they are doing a big pickup and delivery business rather than dine in. We were the only dine in people when we arrived. A couple more guys came afterwards. We saw a few door dash type folks doing pickups, however. You order at the counter and pay there, and they bring your food to you. We chose their cold mixed appetizer plate. It came with hummus, baba ghanoush, lebni, and rice-stuffed grape leaves. I let my husband enjoy all the lebni which was like a thick yogurt with nuts in it. The chickpea hummus was creamy but not pureed; the eggplant baba had a nice texture as well. The grape leaves were standard but disappeared first. We were happy they had sumac on the table in a dispenser to season everything. They also brought an oval of hot fresh baked pita to share to go with the appetizers. After than we shared a lahmajun. They brought a plate first with different "garden" veggies on it -- lettuce, red onions, pickled shredded beets, tomato slices, lemon wedges, and a half pickle. The lahmajun is served hot. It's a very thin baked dough -- much thinner than a pizza or a flatbread. It was topped with finely minced/ground lamb. You tear off a piece and wrap it around the veggies of your choice. We also got a free piece of baklava with our Yelp check in. It was very good. Moist and sweet --but not overly sweet. The flaky filo and chopped walmuts made it one of the better versions I have tried. Although the building and the experience is a bit strange, we would return to try more of their menu as we like this type of cuisine. Just bring an open attitude and appetite to match.

I was stationed in Ankara, Turkey when I was in the Air Force and enjoy trying Turkish Cuisine wherever it is offered. When the server at the register didn't respond to my Turkish Greeting we figured some other parties were operating this location. We selected the Cold combo plate and a Flatbread with Sauce and ground lamb.(They also brought a plate of onions, tomatoes, and mixed greens to go on top of our flatbread). The Cold combo of grape leaves, hummus, baba ghanoush and a tart garlic yougurt was brought out first and each was very good. Some warm pita type bread accompanied the cold plate and was very good. We found out that the kitchen staff and our server were from the other side of the Black Sea ... Russia! Oh, by the way, they do have Chicken dishes too!

Simply fantastic food and great customer service! The best Turkish doner in Miami! I love the chicken plate! The quality of the ingredients, the taste! I come in person and order online! Baklava is super yummy as well!

I have passed by here many times and we decided to give it a try. Parking is a little weird. We parked behind the building where it really only appears to be the 1 handicap spot (don't worry - we have a handicap placard and we were parked legally). If it wasn't for that, not sure where one is to park. Walked in and it was very quiet and clean. We ordered at the register, paid and sat. They have a good amount of booths and tables. Out came a basket of sauces - tzatziki, hot sauce and ketchup for the fries. Next out came the baklava in a small Togo container. We got some grape leaves to share. There were 4 giant grape leaves and they were very good. We saved 2 to take home. I ordered the falafal pita. It came with some sauce on side. Not sure what it was, but it wasn't tahini or tzatziki. The pita had the falafel, mixed greens, hummus and cucumber. It showed on the menu that there were pickles but there were none there and it could have used that briny pickly flavor. I was not a bit fan of the hummus but the falafel was very good. My husband had the chicken gyro. He said it was very good. He didn't use a lot of the spicy sauce as the heat quickly overwhelmed the flavor. My daughter had the grilled wings. Garlic sauce. She liked them a lot and they looked amazing. We ended with the baklava and it was a delicious end to the meal. Service was very friendly. We will definitely return to try some more items on the menu.

    Stuffed grape leaves

There is only parking for two cars behind this eatery. Not sure where else one could park. Maybe at the Home Depot across the street? The restaurant is small and on entering we were greeted with a clean, neat, festive dining room with no patrons. But we also faced an environment that was somewhat musky. I don't know if the AC was turned off. But something was amiss. So, we decided not to eat there and to take our food home. We ordered an appetizer of stuffed grape leaves, a chicken gyro meal with fries, and a Turkish meatballs meal with rice. There is very little meat served here. Mostly the meals are made with chicken. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. And I went looking for the fries before we walked out the door so I could munch on some during the drive home. And I was told they were mixed in with the chicken gyro meal (because that's how they serve the fries). I hate mushy fries. Anyway, at home, we hungrily pulled out our food and started to stuff our faces. The stuffed grape leaves were bland. The rice had absolutely no seasoning. And the grape leaf itself was washed out with no flavor. The chicken gyro was moist, plentiful, and mixed in with our (seasoned) fries (which made them a bit soggy). The Turkish meatballs were flavorfully seasoned, but alas they were overcooked. So much so that the meat was not moist and a bit tough. The "meatballs'' were actually small, hamburger shaped pieces. The rice that accompanied the dish was peppered with chick peas. It was a nice partnership. Our bill was close to $40 for two meals and an appetizer. So, pricing is not bad, especially since the portions are decent. Service was excellent.

Great find! Excellent food, friendly service and spacious and clean inside. Parking is a bit of a mission, there are only like two spots and one handicap. They suggested we parked next door, so we did and it was not a problem. I wasn't sure on what to order so I got a few things to try and I feel like I made the right choice and discovered the best thing on their menu. Here's what I tried - Chicken Gyro Wrap - Loaded with chicken, mixed greens, pickles, onions, tomatoes. This was very good. The amount of chicken they put was generous and it was very juicy and flavorful. I would probably add a bit of salt to the chicken, but other than that it's perfect. 4.5/5 ($12.25) Turkish meatballs - Came with fries and a salad. These were not really meatballs I'm not sure why they were called that but they were DELICIOUS, wow. The flavor on them was insane, very juicy as well. I'd probably get a wrap with these next time. The best thing I tried this visit for sure. 5/5 ($14.75) I also tried their Falafel which were different from most I've previously tried, these were flat and a bit dryer but still decent. Their lentil soup was good but also different since the lentils were turned to liquid, but this was still creamy and good. Their baklava was given to us for checking in through the yelp app and it was extremely good, some of the best I've tried. This place is great, I just wish it were a bit closer. I would probably be here once a week if it were. Regardless I will find an excuse to come back to the area just so I can try more of their menu. They're for sure worth a visit!

Falafel, which came with french fries. Very excellent food.

This place just opened across from the Home Depot on 4th Ave and East Sunrise Blvd. I originally thought it was a chicken restaurant till I looked at the menus. Well it's not. A mix of different items and Mediterranean food. Happy to say it was delicious. I have the Falafel and an order of baklava. The Falafel was excellent. For the price you get a big meal too. The flavor was outstanding. The baklava was excellent. Not sure if they make them there, but they are quite delicious as well. I hope this little corner spot makes it. Unfortunately very limited parking. Definitely going back.

Legitimately the best wraps in Florida. I grew up in Montreal where the souvlaki and middle eastern food is insane food and this is the first place that matches it. Blown away. So tasty. Seriously come try the chicken kabob wrap. Mind blowing.

It was about a 5 to 10 minute walk from Broward Center to the restaurant. The walk is very nice as it runs along the river. The restaurant is located next to the wharf heading east from the theater. It's a little bit of a challenge to find. If you're driving there, you definitely want to make sure you're parking near the wharf as there's no direct parking in front of the restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful. It's very clean and inviting. My only negative was that we sat outside in front of the river and could only see the river through small slivers in the thick foliage that created a wall. It's possible the foliage is there to create privacy because it's right next to the walk way along the river, but it kind of limits the view. Maybe during the day it is easier to see. The food and service was absolutely delicious. They serve tapas style, so we ordered a few dishes and shared. Everyone enjoyed all of the dishes. We also have a service snafu when we couldn't find out server at one point (turns out he was out on the patio) We tried a range of dishes from the hummus with mushrooms, to crispy zucchini, chicken shish kabob, spiced lamb and the octopus. The food was good but I think we were hoping for more specific Greek entree's with a name like Mykonos and this was more Mediterranean but still good. Know that they do put an automatic 18% tip on your check so look for it if you go. Dinner ran about $100 per person with a couple of drinks each so typical for this area. The challenge they are going to have is carving a niche for themselves in the crowded Fort Lauderdale market. Their location is fantastic on the river but people are going to have to find them so they need signage out on 2nd street directing people back to their location. At the end of the night, while we all enjoyed the ambiance and the drinks, the food didn't stand out and we all wondered if we would be back.

Starting with what I enjoyed most, I thought the lentil soup was fabulous. It was rich and flavorful and tasted like it had a hint of fennel or coriador that I was not expecting. Fantastic dish. The kufta kebab was also very good. The spice profile here too was very interesting. It was different than other kebabs I had, I think had a hit of cardoman which was very prominent and added a wonderful flavor to the meat. The koshari was also very delicious, though it had sautéed, slightly well done onions on top rather than the crispy onions I've had before in koshari. As for what I didn't love, the chicken and beef shawarma were OK, but they really weren't shawarma. They were more like a shawarma seasoned stir fry. I wouldn't order it again and I love shawarma. Finally the falafel had an amazing crispy texture, but was slightly under cooked inside for some reason and not very hot. I do want to take a moment to note that the service here was fantastic. We were greeted warmly and given great service by the staff. Truly outstanding. Overall I'd give Mini Pita a strong 4 stars. Worth checking out and exploring the menu!

I rarely leave negative reviews. For me to write one, BOTH the FOOD and the SERVICE have to miss…read morethe mark, and unfortunately that was our experience at Sotogrande. We went last weekend for Dine Out Fort Lauderdale. Would I come back? No. Here's why. The service started off poorly. Our waitress was so inattentive that after we had been sitting there for about 20 minutes, a manager eventually came over and took our order. We started with the Greek salad, which was actually great. When it arrived, I asked for salt and pepper simply because I tend to like my food on the saltier side. I never added it as it definitely did not need it. When our waitress cleared the salad plates, she went to take the salt and pepper, then mumbled, "Ahh, I'll leave it, but you won't need it," and walked away. At the time, I thought it was an odd comment. Once our entrées arrived, I understood exactly what she meant. The food was unbelievably salty. And I say that as someone who likes salty food. I ordered the Chicken Keftedes and my friend ordered the Grilled Branzino, and both were so heavily salted that they were difficult to eat. Did our waitress come back to ask how our meals were? Eventually, but it took so long that by then I had already lost my appetite. I genuinely wanted to send mine back, but I also felt bad about wasting an entire entrée. I thought I could take it home and salvage it by adding other ingredients to dilute the saltiness. The next day, I tried. Nothing could save it. There was also an issue with the water. We asked for water and our waitress brought us bottled water, which we were charged for. We assumed that was simply how the restaurant served water until we noticed other tables had carafes of water. We were never asked whether we wanted bottled or regular water. I do want to give credit where it's due. The Greek salad was great, and the Dubai Tart dessert was also excellent. Unfortunately, those two bright spots were not enough to overcome the entrées and the service. I really wanted to enjoy Sotogrande, especially since Dine Out Fort Lauderdale is such a good opportunity to try restaurants you might come back to afterward. In this case, we won't be returning
