Busy little place at lunchtime with both eat in and take out orders. Nice vibe with middle eastern music playing and tables lacquered with chic peas. It's been six years since I last reviewed Sunrise Pita and I'm happy to say that it's just as delicious now as it was then! It's still my favorite place to go for falafel and believe me I've tried it at many places. You order at the counter and then you let them know whatever you want with it. Choices include Israeli salad, lettuce, tomato, beets, eggplant, tahini sauce, hummus sauce, spicy (very) sauce among some of the offerings. They also have shawarma, schnitzel, shishkabob, chicken, steak, kebabs and other delicious items. You can get these either in a pita as a sandwich or as a platter. Salads and soups are also available. I have to say that they have the best pita bread and hummus that can be addictive! They have a cooler filled with different sodas including some Israeli ones. Prices have gone up quite a bit like at most restaurants, a falafel sandwich was almost 15 dollars but I honestly don't mind spending it because the food is amazing. Five stars for service thanks to Mike! He is always friendly and ready to help with suggestions. He makes your food with love and care! They recently did a nice refresh in the restaurant and made some changes to the menu. Unfortunately, the menu is less vegan friendly than the previous menu. Please at least add back the salads mix pita/plate. There are so few plant based options in Broward and this has been one of my go to vegan spots for many years. I hope management recognizes that some folks come just for plant based food, just check the yelp reviews and all the vegan mentions. Food is solid and consistent. Everything was made fresh to order so you left with hot and delicious food. Their side bar had an assortment of selection from cabbage, tomatoes, salad, eggplant, pickles, you name it, they had it. The hummous, red cabbage and salad were super fresh and flavorful. The pita that they use are the same as they sell at Aroma. The chicken soup was a disappointment. I wish the staff would have just told me they didn't have chicken noodle. What they gave me didn't have celery, it had shredded carrot in strange broth with noodles that was not chicken. Been coming here for years and the one thing I absolutely love is their hummus with the spicy tahini--so smooth and creamy. And it's perfect with their warm and pillowy pita. I usually get their Mini Plate, which is sizable. Personally for me, it's enough for leftovers and/or sharing with another person. It comes with red cabbage, lettuce/tomato, cucumber sweet tomatoes spread, hummus, a eggplant, and warmed pita. You pick your protein for the mini platter. I usually get the shawarma. Most recently I got the chicken shishkabob (chicken breast) which was nicely seasoned so definitely a good and probably healthier option! I stopped in for the first time for a quick lunch at the Davie location. I have seen the name for years, but never have stopped to try it. It is very clean and there were a few families in there eating. They also do a lot of takeout. The menu is huge but I finally decided on the Lamb Kabab Pita (Ground lamb) for $13.99. I added lettuce, cucumber, tomato, and some tzatziki sauce. It looked delicious. However, it was just ok. The pita was too thick for my taste. I didn't realize it was cut open and then the food put inside. I really thought it was a pita pocket . So my bad. The meat was good, but there was more pita than meat. Also I wish there had been more lettuce and tomatoes. (see picture) . So to me, it was unbalanced in flavors. It did take about 15 minutes for them to make my order, which is a longer time than normal for a walk up counter place. There is no table service, so after you place your order, you just wait. I've always heard about this place, and I finally had the chance to check them out because I was in the area. I had the chicken pita and let me tell you the meat was so tender and flavorful. It was just great very very good very pleased with my order. My grandma had the lamb entrée that came with a side salad and decided to pita bread and she was in love. My daughter had potato pancakes and said they were really good. My wife had a falafel platter and she also loved it. Our friend had a falafel gyro and he raved about it. I really enjoyed the fries, more like potato wedges, they had a really good taste. As for me I had a chicken shawarma platter. It came with a salad option. I had eggplant, it was awesome, some tomato and onion salad that was also awesome, some regular salad and some really good pickles. But I think my favorite thing was the hot sauce. Yeah it was hot but not too hot. It was hot to the point that all you get is heat and no flavor. It was really good with the chicken shawarma. Service was cheerful and efficient, however the cook blew his nose and immediately went to sort through a bag of pita without washing his hands first. He then proceeded to the sandwich counter to do something and sneezed without covering his mouth. Only after that did he wash his hands. When I used to go to Nova, I was a regular at this place. Since I have moved, I got a craving and decided to order the falafel pita sandwich and sweet potato fries. It was not as good as I remembered. I also ordered through delivery and so it wasn't as fresh but still. The sweet potato fries were ehh. I could cut up a sweet potato, drizzle some olive oil, salt and pepper and broil it for a bit and have 10 times better fries than these. They did not taste like anything and were not crispy. I ordered the pita with pretty much everything on it. The falafel itself was good but too big for the pita. I think if they cut them in half, it would be easier to eat. Instead, they just fall out. I believe they used to put a garlic sauce that really made the sandwich but they didn't use it this time and the fillings were mediocre. read more

It was fairly clean, not a loud atmosphere. The staff was friendly, helped us out. The menu is pretty big but I went with what I know I enjoy, shawarma and fries, you can't beat that. So the shawarma is cooked and then you get to choose what goes into the pita, which is pretty cool considering some places you get what you get. Overall shawarma was hot and fresh, lots of flavor, everything meshed well together. The fries, fries are hard to get right because I'm very particular about them. These fries were near perfect, top 5 I've had in a very long time. They were hot, semi crunchy, not oily, needed a little salt but overall a fantastic fry! As a big middle-eastern foodie, I decided to stop by Sunrise Pita for dinner. I have visited their other location in Plantation and loved it; thus, I expected nothing less from their Davie location. Sunrise Pita in Davie offers lots of parking available, as well as both outdoor and indoor dining. Table service, however, is not available. Patrons must place orders and pay at the register before settling down at a table. The venue is quite large, clean, and COVID precautions seem to be in place (e.g., dividers, hand sanitizers, gloves/masks, etc.). There are menus above the register to help patrons decide their order; however, I already knew what I wanted. I ordered a shredded chicken pita sandwich but was informed the chicken meat also contains a mix of lamb. Interested in trying something different from the usual, I agreed and ordered it. On a side note, pita bread is only toasted upon request. I loved how generous they are with their toppings! Patrons can select as many toppings as they can fit in their pita bread! I opted for hummus, grilled eggplant, a tomato-eggplant mix, and baba ghanoush. I also requested extra baba ghanoush and tahini sauce on the side (at no extra cost)! The meat was then added after my toppings, and my sandwich was neatly wrapped in foil to keep all of my toppings from falling out. The sandwich was delicious! The chicken-lamb mix was incredibly flavorful and juicy! Though I am not a huge fan of lamb (I am not too fond of the aftertaste), the taste of the lamb was subtle and palatable. While all of the salad bar toppings are great, my favorites are their hummus and grilled eggplant. The hummus is tasty and garlicky, and I am a sucker for grilled eggplant, haha! I suggest asking for sauces on the side or eating the sandwich with a fork and plate. Though I opted for toasted pita, it was not enough to keep the bread from breaking and spilling its contents. Nevertheless, sometimes the messiest meals are the best! All in all, Sunrise Pita in Davie was up to par with their Plantation location. The menus are electronic and the icons can be slightly misleading, the pita looks like a bowl, unfortunately no bowl options, so its a pita, plate or hummus bowl option. No worries, everything is delicious! This time, I opted for a shawarma pita which is layers of turkey and lamb. DELICIOUS! I honestly could have eaten another one and portion is pretty large! I appreciate that you can customize your pita and no topping seemed to be an extra cost which I find frequently happens. I got the hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, and eggplant, but they offer plenty more to choose from! My friend got the hummus bowl with the same meat combo and also really enjoyed it. Not to mention the presentation in a styrofoam bowl might have been the nicest I've seen. The hummus is super creamy and flavorful. It isn't the cheapest option for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern fare around. A pita and a Snapple ran me about $14 with no sides or anything. The decoration was calming and inviting and the staff was very friendly and not afraid to help you find the ideal dish. I ended up getting the shawarma and hummus dish and it was exactly what I wanted! Meat in the middle with the hummus in the middle to dip. The oils of the meat mixed with the hummus giving an ultra tasty scoop with the delicious peta bread. I would recommend for a quick lunch spot or if you're a huge Mediterranean food fanatic.
