I first came here on the morning of Dec. 31st after a night of drinking. This has been the only dedicated gluten free fried chicken place in portland that I know of. I got the 3 piece combo with OG chicken and OG fries, it came with a sauce. There was a youngish clean looking man working, it did take 20-30 minutes to get my food, but no big deal. Everything was amazing, I'm not sure if it was the hangover or the fact that I haven't had fried chicken in 7-8 years. I have been craving it since, so today, Jan. 8th I went. I got the lemon pepper chicken and OG fries. I ordered ahead of time so I wouldn't have to wait so long, pick up time was 11:40-11:50. I showed up at 11:47, the person today was a slightly ill looking middle aged woman. She looked confused at first when I told her my name, then she said oh it'll be 4 minutes for the chicken. I said no problem, I waited about 10 minutes and she called my name. I go to get my food and she's literally sniffing and blowing her nose with my food bag in the other hand... gross. I grab the bag and there is several small black hairs on the outside of the bag, great! I'm starving so I go back to my car to eat out of the cold, I open the box after 30 seconds of walking to my car and the fries are super soggy, covered in grease and barley warm. The chicken looks decent but is also soggy on one side, with barely any visible seasoning. I'm not sure if it was the batch but every piece of chicken was bland yet so salty it was unbearable, as well as it being stringy and hard to bite. I could barely tear off any, I ate about .5 of the 3 pieces and 1 fry. I will not be back. I'm not sure if I got super lucky the first day or what. I think the only reason why they are still in business is that they are designated gluten free. read more

Big tenders could do just one for lunch. Chicken was very tender and looked like good quality breast meat. The fries are pretty basic. We split a plate of three. Husband had the brussels sprouts and thought they were good, better than JoJos. Will come back again. Tried the truffle Parmesan which cost a little extra and it was a very mild truffle so maybe not worth it but lots of flavors to try. They are all rubs not dipping sauces. Welp. Was excited to try this spot after following since they were at Hawthorne market. Food: solid. Great chicken. Crispy. Great flavors. Service: sucked and will never go again. I asked simply to have my sandwich cut in half and was denied saying she didn't have the possibility. She offered me a sh**tty plastic knife to cut my sandwich. So here's a picture of the massive food-safe knife that was on the wall where she could've cut my sandwich, but apparently that was too much work for her. Never again. I wish I could take back my tip. That's my advice. Don't tip cause they aren't doing anything special to earn it. read more

A bit too basic for me. The chicken and fries were cooked perfectly, and the breading was superb, but unfortunately the meat was dry & slightly tough breast meat, tasted like it wasn't marinated which is the main part. You can choose from a bunch of different dry rub seasonings but I could hardly taste any flavor on mine, and w/ the dryness of the meat think it would be better as sticky tenders tossed in sauce instead. Also, the self order kiosk adds a credit surcharge as well changing the price of my 13.99 order to 16.56 upon checkout. When I asked, they took $14 cash. I understand food trucks doing credit card surcharges bc the processing fees add up especially when the avg transaction is less than $20, but I think there should be more transparent signage for both the surcharge and cash option to avoid surcharge. The owner is pretty friendly and helpful tho. read more

Tried for the first time and was not disappointed! The chicken was great - really impressive that the breading stays on. Every time we've tried to make gluten free fried chicken, it separates, but not here. The meat was not dry and the dipping sauce was yummy. The kids loved the nuggets and fries too. The fried pickles were an added treat - I'll definitely get them again! We wanted to go to the Hawthorne food carts to check out the options. I'd read about Your Side Chicks (slightly degrading) and stayed in NW. We took a look, but kept walking. The guy working (found out later was the owner) had the longest, most disgusting beard, which wasn't covered, preparing the food. Bro, Costco is more sanitary. Yelpers, ya'll are SLEEPING on this amazing dedicated gluten free food truck! I'm so happy this place exists! I've been gluten free for over a decade now, and let's face it... it's usually just easier to eat foods that are naturally gluten free, than to try and find a gf substitute. I've been craving fried chicken fierce, and chef Daniel did not disappoint! Holy hell, the chicken tenders were so flavorful and juicy! No dry chicken here, peeps! (Pun was not intended, but now I'm for sure leaving it ) My husband said this was some of the best fried chicken he has ever had... and he's not gf! Perfectly seasoned, crispy, crinkle fries with a side of tasty coleslaw rounded out our lunch. We split a 5-pc meal, and I have leftovers for dinner - score! I'm not sure what is in the secret sauce, but holy crap, that 'ish is amazing too! We also tried one of the hot sauces plus a black garlic ranch. I had a pleasant experience here. I posted this on the wrong location, but I'll keep it up. It was my first time at the Brooklyn Carretta carts and I was craving fried chicken so google maps took me here. Nice place. I was greeted by employee Sean (sorry Shaun, I don't know how to spell Shawn). He was pleasant and funny and took extra care to make my food as fresh as it could be. We discussed the large variety of seasonings and he even let me sample two that I was indecisive between. Lemme say, the seasonings were phenomenal and are actually bursting with flavor. They have an apple pie seasoning that actually works?? I ordered the tenders. The chicken was crispy and fries well seasoned (you can even get their flavor seasoning on the fries!). My only complaint is that the chicken was a little dry which did bump my rating down slightly (I mean it's dry rub everywhere so makes sense) but the sauce they added on the side really helped with that. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!! I happened upon this cluck truck by dumb luck during a weekend getaway to Portland. Best chicken tenders I've ever experienced. The honey dry rub is mouthwatering, the ratio of chicken to breading is ideal (90% chicken, 10% breading, unlike most tenders which are the inverse). The house sauce tasted hand crafted and unlike any house sauce I'd had. Plus the fries with the Nashville dry seasoning stand on their own. To top it off, Daniel is a super friendly guy who clearly cares about his patrons as much as his craft. If you're a chicken tenders lover, you'll be making your side chick your main chick real quick. Tried this place a few weeks ago after hanging out with friends and family. We ate here while some others grabbed food from other carts and ended up being jealous. My first time and my last time ordering this. I'm sorry y'all, but I just tried to eat my order that was delivered, and both the chicken and the fries were extraordinarily salty. Like, I had to rub as much of the breading off the chicken tenders just to eat some of it, which still was mostly inedible that I had to toss it out. I've been hearing from family members about how amazing their food is, but I had over $75 of an order delivered, and we looked at each other, amazed that this is what others say is good?? NOPE.
