I recently visited Las Brasas Chicken & Steak and was disappointed with my experience. The food often takes a very long time to come out, even when the restaurant is not very busy. On more than one occasion, the food arrived cold instead of fresh and hot. While the flavor can be good, the long wait times and inconsistent food temperature make the overall experience frustrating. I love the steak and cheese sandwich. It's tasty and not overly greasy. Delicious, have it once every two weeks. I also order Bolivian (South American) food here. Their pique, silpancho, charque are some of my favorites. Their parillado is very good too. With lots of meats and sausages-great treat once a year for me. Service is fast and friendly. Made a phone order and the staff member said it would be ready in 5-7 minutes. Similar to before, the chicken was well seasoned and not dry. The coleslaw was basic, but I don't mind seasoning it up and the rice and peas was just right and not dry. If this is your closest option to charcoal chicken, give it a try and make your own onion. i give this placr a solid 4/5 stars. I dont really have much to base my review off other than I ordered only one thing: the Salteña. It's a kind of like a Bolivian chicken pot-pie or empanada. Beautifully wrapped and crusted. Ive had better Salteñas in other locations and this one didn't wow me.. I thought the soup was too watery, too herby, and lacked chicken flavor. I got the chicken salteña because that was the only one left... and I left not disappointed and not amazed either. Just OK. Would i come back for more? probably not. I wished the soup was thicker. I love their proportions and chicken. They were my favorites the one time I went here. The horchata was pretty good too. Not too sweet and more on the mild side. Their chicken was so fucking good. I got a 1/4 chicken and their proportion for it, and for the yucca fries, were larger than those of Sardis Pollo a la Bras, and I LOOOVE me some Sardis! (Is it Sardi's with an apostrophe? Oh well.) The chicken skin was charred and had a nice crisp to it at the edges, and the meat was steaming and mouth-wateringly good. Fuck. I want more of it now. My 1/4 chicken came with plantains, salad (slightly better than your typical side salad), and yucca fries. Everything was just so good and in abundance. I also got chicken salteñas and horchata. The salteñas was sooo hot, even way after I bit into it, like damn. Go get you some for this cold weather lol. It was pretty good and the size of it was huge, as in bigger than an empanada (at least, the ones I've had). It was decent inside. They played their music so loud and it was like music you can club to that I was half expecting people to start dancing. I didn't mind too much. The restroom is a communal restroom that is shared with the patrons of 7-Eleven. You need to get the key from 7-Eleven to use them. They weren't nasty but of course they weren't great. Steak, chorizo, yuca w/ají (spicy green sauce) was great! The morcilla is one of the better morcillas I've had and I've eaten in mexico, Costa Rica, ecuador, colombia, spain, and portugal. Feeds 3-4 people, but if you like huge portions it feeds 2 people. Also, I've had their lunch specials ~$10. It's a soup and a second plate. Comes with house peach drink, horchata, or soda. This was honestly a horrible experience. My friends have only ever told me good things and the food smelled awesome but I'm sorry... what sense does it make to put steaming hot food in a paper bag with other boxes with condensation? Before I even got home my yuca was all over the bottom of the bag, the plastic bag holding all my food was almost completely ripped open on the bottom and the yuca was soggy. If there's more than 1 box it's common knowledge to use TWO TO-GO BAGS...specifically so the food doesn't rip through the bag. This was less than pleasing and I'm being nice. Ive been an Arlington resident for about 12 yrs and definitely love peruvian charcoal chicken. UNFORTUNATELY this place claims the chicken is authentic and sauces= let me tell you the chicken from here taste like the Walmart $6.99 chicken by the registers. No extravagant flavor such as other Real Peruvian places, the green sauce taste bland with no spices, and the yellow sauce is basically cheap Aldi mayo with a hint of pepper. The Yuca was fresh and hot, but the rice had a nasty smell like if it was from a day before and got reheated in the microwave. FFF- to this place. Waste of money and time. read more

I'd never noticed this restaurant until I was walking by and hungry. So I popped in for some take-out. The chicken was good. Well-seasoned and not dry. The yellow rice was just sort of plain. Some of the yucca was undercooked, but the pieces that were cooked were done well. The salad looked unappealing. No strawberry Fanta and the green sauce was unfortunately creamy. The fact that this hidden gem is directly across the street from my community makes it that much better. Hole in the wall that offers a wide variety of dishes. From pupusas to salteñas to Peruvian chicken - would definitely recommend to people of all sorts to get an authentic taste of real Latin American cuisine. Fair warning - this place is really, uh, authentic, but that's where all the best food always is! I've only been to this restaurant just a few times usually it is in the afternoon or early evening before any kind of rush. I found this a great place to get some simple food that is prepared well and the people are very nice. Interior is very simple and I have never had dinner or lunch at the restaurant typically I do you pick it up and take it to go. I will say that during peak times such as lunch or dinner or even on the weekends you can be a little slower, which I do expect on any decent restaurant. As I was saying it is simple food that is prepared well the people are very nice and polite and I will continue to go there is a quick stop in for a quick bite to eat. Give this place a try when you can parking can be a little difficult especially when it's busy since it's attached to the mobile station but don't pass it by give it a try hopefully this restaurant is here to stay and doesn't fall through the cracks like several other have in this location read more

I'm from LA and we have El Pollo Loco locations everywhere. I mention this because this place makes better and more tasty chicken than El Pollo Loco - hands down. Touted as a Bolivian menu, Las Brasas makes some of the most succulent chicken I've ever tasted. My girl and I entered ordered a 1/2 chicken to split between us. Ordering two 1/4 chickens was almost double the price. It came with fries, plantines and a small salad. My girl ordered a side of Yuca - which can be best described as a cross between wedge-cut fry and a potato pancake. The interior was nothing to write home about and the flat screens were showcasing soccer, so you really get the feeling of stepping into a South American country. As far as beverages, they offer a wide variety of Coke products and South American versions of other punches and lemonades. They also offer a wide variety of baked goods and desserts. It's located in front of the local DMV and next to a gas station and 7/11. Parking might become tough at times. They have no Wi-Fi. Demerits for aged decor and seating, but I would most definitely eat here again. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. I came here as I waited to get my oil & filter changed right down the street. I tried a chicken & steak sandwich. I liked that they asked if I wanted some non-standard toppings like green peppers and black olives on my sandwich. (Standard toppings being lettuce, onion, tomatoes). In addition to sandwiches, they have various platters, but I only tried the sandwich. It came with a white sauce that tasted a lot like Miracle Whip, and a spicy and really tasty green sauce. With and without the sauces, the sandwich was very good...also large and overflowing with ingredients. I also tried their fried plantains....they were good. There were a lot of different dishes and sides. A good selection of drinks. The staff was friendly. There is nothing special about the dining area, very average....but pretty clean. It must have been a half chicken tasty and the skin was the way I like it, crispy. Two Salvadoran sausages broiled, rice with corn kernels, and very good coleslaw. I've had Peruvian chicken at just about every Peruvian chicken joint in Arlington. I like this one for a few reasons. Firstly, it's convenient. Right across the street from our condo. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. On nights when I drag myself home from work and don't feel like cooking, eating out or grabbing unhealthy fast food, Las Brasas is a life-saver. Secondly, the food is very good. The chicken is always seasoned and cooked perfectly. I love the plantains and they are always the perfect mix of crispy/chewy. The salsa verde is delicious and a must. Once I eat all the flavorful skin off the chicken, I need something to jazz up the actual chicken meat. That green sauce is so good. Over the years, I've never had anything bad here and we've tried most of the menu. When I feel like dessert, the flan is always good. Oh. One thing. They could skip the "salad". I use that term loosely. It's usually just some chunks of the gross white part of a head of iceberg lettuce that no one likes, some carrot shreads and a few kernels of corn. But it's a nice gesture. This place is awesome, and usually the high point of my day. Now, this is because every time I have been here, it has been after a trip to the DMV, the Jiffy Lube, or one of the collision centers, so after being dragged across coals for hours, it's nice to get some chicken that's been spun around above them. The prices are definitely reasonable, and the portions are big. Las Brasas actually has the best Yucca fries of the chicken places in the surrounding area, although their sauces are a little bit more weak - the green should definitely be way more spicy. There's plenty of crap on the walls, and they are playing soccer on the TVs at all hours (I seriously didn't even know that many televised soccer games existed.) It has a very laid back atmosphere, and usually plenty of seating. What really set this place apart for me is that the steak here was actually good. I know right? Usually, it's got the consistency of boiled horse knees, but somehow these guys have got it right - medium rare is actually medium rare! Recommend, will be back. read more

I've tried nearly every Peruvian chicken spot in Arlington and this understated, local favorite is hands-down the best. We come here at least once a week. Their chicken is moist with crispy skin, and better seasoned than other places. The sides - salad, rice, fried plantains - are all reliably good. With sit-down tables, the restaurant provides a legit "Latin American" ambience that's one notch above fast food. The majority of clientele are Spanish-speakers and soccer/telenovelas play on flat-screen TVs. Where Las Brasas falters is service, which is neither efficient or friendly (usually the norm among other Peruvian chicken restaurants). Provided you have 10-15 minutes to wait, this is some solid take-out chicken. read more

This review is purely for the horchata here. While waiting for our cars to get washed at David's across the parking lot, we walked into Chicken and Steak Las Brasas to check it out. While not hungry, I almost felt the hunger pangs as soon as I smelled the delicious chicken on the spit. Parched, I ordered a large horchata. Their horchata falls into the nutty and spicy category of horchata flavors. Very refreshing and a nice change from the more common (and very delicious) "Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk at the bottom of the bowl" flavor of horchata. We will return next time we visit the nearby David's car wash or Jiffy Lube and try eating (and drinking horchata). read more

Later, customers who spoke spanish and arrived several minutes after i had were served. I was never served and had to leave and get food elsewhere. English speakers are not welcome here. My husband and I love the saltenas here (a type of baked empanada from Bolivia)! You eat it with a spoon by breaking through the top of the bread. The stew inside is either chicken or beef, with potatoes, olives, hard boiled egg, and lots of other goodness. The bread on the outside it always chewy and sweet. I keep meaning to try other menu items, but I end up getting the chicken because I like it so much. Service is friendly and quick. Can be crowded at noon with a long line. Parking can be a hassle, but there are spaces out back. I do wish they'd use better napkins (I have a bug about cheap thin napkins.) Oh, I wish they had BBQ sauce. OK, that's nitpicking.
