Haven't been here in 20 years. I used to go in my early 20s all the time. Stopped in for a large hot garlic chicken bowl (A4) lady working was so sweet and welcoming. I'm honestly glad to see them still open after all this time. The food was good. Chicken was cooked really well and no weird bits or fat. The veggies were crisp as well. I noticed she put teriyaki and hot sauce on top. For some reason i thought it used to be all hot sauce. It wasn't spicy at all that's the only thing. Next time I'll ask for the sauce on the side to customize my preference. You get a lot of food for the price though and the quality is pretty good. it's no frills and they get you in and out quick. I've lived in Simi for about five or six years and somehow kept driving past this spot without stopping in. Finally tried it today -- and I'm glad I did. It's one of those classic Simi hole-in-the-wall places that's probably been here forever, quietly serving good food without all the hype. The quality is solid. The teriyaki sauce has a unique flavor -- not the typical overly sweet chain-style sauce -- and while it caught me off guard at first, it actually works. It's different in a good way. The chicken and beef both had a nice smoky flavor, and the meats were tender and juicy. The vegetables were cooked perfectly (still fresh with a little bite), and the rice was fluffy and tasted fresh. Everything felt freshly made. Service was fast -- my food was ready in about 2-3 minutes. Super efficient. The place is clean, and the staff is friendly and focused. Great quick lunch or easy dinner spot if you're in the area. Only downside: no card payments. They take cash or Zelle. There's an ATM inside, but there's a fee, so just come prepared. That's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. I ordered a small hot garlic chicken with noodles. The lady at the counter was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is cash only or you can Zelle them. My order was ready quickly. I small styrofoam bowl with noodles, vegetables and chicken thigh meat. For a small bowl, it is packed with chicken and noodles. Maybe 40 percent noodles 40 percent chicken and 10 percent vegetables. The flavor was really good. They have squeeze bottle hot sauce, soy sauce and hot garlic sauce. Overall a solid meal at a decent price read more

I have been coming here since I was a child and I love the service, the food is always fresh. I order a chicken bowl with only broccoli and they always do a great job at giving me exactly what I ask for. I love the sauce, and there is seating inside. Very affordable and savory bowls! They accept cash and Venmo as payment forms. The restaurant is clean and quiet and it doesn't smell like fried food! The service is very fast and the food tastes fresh. They have 2 serving size options, small and large. I got the spicy garlic shrimp small bowl. I like the food here despite the fact that prices have gone up significantly, higher than inflation prices. The food is worth it in my opinion. There is a lady that takes your order and she is always amazing. Recently, there has been a young man that has zero people skills, zero. He is very rude, condescending and that's when he actually speaks. He does greet, smile, say please or thank you, all the things you would expect from someone polite and appreciative when you bring them your business. If he continues to be at the front taking orders, I will simply turn around, exit and go eat somewhere else. The food at Chicken Bowl is some of the best I've ever had for this style of food. The food is always consistent. I have been coming here for over 15 years, and not once have I ever gotten a bad piece of meat. The rice and noodles have never been under cooked or over cooked. This place is a complete dive but I love it. Can you eat off the floor? Hell no! But why would I care, it's a place of tasty teriyaki bowls for dirt cheap so I'll just take it to go! Haha. So yes, to address the other reviews this place probably doesn't have an A health rating (my apologies if they do) but sometimes you judge a place based on outside appearances and can assume what your getting. No frills, not fancy, mom and pop shop which I am always in support of. Hence the 5 stars. If I want a fancy pants dining experience then you best believe I won't be coming here but my cheapskate self loves this spot. The food again, is cheap and delicious. The teriyaki sauce (almost would call it a gravy) is thick but very tasting. If your a sauce lover then you'll be all about it. I tried the chicken and the beef, they both taste great. The chicken is classic-probably should get this if it's your first time. Also they give you the option of noodles and/or rice. I got both, the noodles are surprisingly good but the proteins seem to go better with the sauce and rice. This hole in the wall is worth a quick lunch trip. After a long day of hiking that helped us build up quite the hunger, my friend and I were excited for some delicious teriyaki. While things usually tend to taste better on an empty stomach, even that goodwill wasn't enough to make this food terribly appealing. I will say that Chicken Bowl's prices are very reasonable, as a large bowl runs only about $6. But the contents itself were disappointing - the chicken was fatty and a bit rubbery, the veggies were overly soft, and the sauce was a letdown. It was too watery and quickly ran to the bottom of the container, soaking the rice while still not giving it a whole lot of flavor. I got the spicy version and the chili sauce gave it a bit more dimension, but a teriyaki bowl with mediocre teriyaki sauce just isn't going to cut it. I feel a bit bad being critical of a small business like this, where the staff was generally friendly - nothing against them or the experience itself.
