Bad experiences at Chicken Express. Management shows favoritism and doesn't help employees, which leads to long drive-thru lines with only a 2 workers. The kitchen looked messy and the bathrooms were dirty. Overall, poorly managed by Amber the Gm and not worth it. I are also getting sued or something in that matter for green and grey also pink chicken and sending people to the hospital so I definitely would not recommend. (Not trying to put the hate out there just she is always on the shifts when these things happen.) read more

My cousin & I came one afternoon so we could visit. We love the tea from Chicken Express so much that we came here. Brooklyn was our cashier and she was so pleasant & helpful in my ordering and even afterwards. I, of course, had to order some of their yummy chicken & it was so delicious. The biscuits are smaller but yummy. The prices have increased and side portions are smaller but we would definitely be back. Also Amber, the GM was very friendly too. All of the employees were really! We had a ball with them & this just might be our meeting place! read more

We just came home after getting take out. I bought the 60$ meal got home with a cup of potato's ( supposed to be family size, a cup of gravy ( or milk is what I should say) no seasoning in gravy( milk) no flour I'm pretty darn sure. Terrible! "Twice fried" chicken. Just moved here and I am a huge Chicken-E fan. I hope this was a one-off bad experience. Ordered a 4 tender dinner fries & okra. We stopped for a snack today. I've only been to Chicken Express one other time in my life (because I don't live here). The first time was years ago, but I literally have dreams about y'all's chicken tender snack pack! Today, I got to stop during a visit to Gun Barrel City, TX. Let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint!! Lorraine, Amber, Jennie.... and well, the whole staff really, were all exceptional! They were friendly, funny, professional and so very kind! For the third time in one year we have ordered multiple meals and 3 of 5 were not as ordered. Left out vegetables on orders each time and suggest checking boxes before leaving - which we have never done before. Getting home without order SUCKS! Came to this store visiting from out of town after 10+ hours of driving, first time trying chicken express. The food was good but the experience was terrible. We ordered hot wings and were advised the wait was 6 minutes to pull to the side. We sat at the side for over 20 minutes and after knocking on the door we were not acknowledged by employees and went to the employees only door at the side. Employees were distraught, stating they told us it would be a 30 minute wait. However through the headset and at the window we were told 6 minutes no one would wait for fast food wings for 30 minutes? This excuse was off the wall if you forget about a customers order there is no need to lie. Had to go back to the store for a missing coke, then again for a missing macaroni side. Being from SATX we thankfully do not need to visit this location again. The employees need additional training and customer service skills. I'm not sure if the daytime staff is like the closing staff. read more

All I ever get from chicken express is gizzards and they're usually really good. This is the first time that I stopped at the Gun Barrel City location and it was the worst experience I've ever had in my life. The gizzards we're like pieces of plastic I couldn't even eat them they were so dried out. When I took it up for the cashier to see them, she just kind of looked at me and offered me more. Why in the world would I want more? The macaroni and cheese was like eating pieces of paste the only thing that was good out of my $10 meal was the fried okra and tea. Well I know it's Chicken Express, but I ordered the fish (it was Friday and Lent). Anyway, the inquiry was did I want two or three pieces of fish. I asked how big where the pieces. The guy behind the counter made a General shape of a piece of fish with his hands, "About like that" he said. I was impressed. Nice size. Well they cooked the fish up fresh (he said it's their policy and that was fine. Cold fish really sucks) So I waited and watched the soundless tv there (why have a tv on if you can't hear it?) As I waited a shift change occurred and a new cook walks in. Wattles. She and some one in the back get into a little bit of an argument. Hey those things happen but this was loud. Like very loud. Then it subsided but she walks out to refill the napkins and muttered (again LOUD) "I shouldna said it the way I said it. But I said it) now the patrons were included in the melee but not the whole dissertation. Finally the fish came out. Now ladies, if a young man at Chicken Express tells you anything he's got is "so big", walk off. He's a liar. And the fish was spiceless, not heat at all. No flavor. I suspect much like this young mans love life. . And the fries were cold. Stone cold. Like a corpse. ( again, the love life?) Dont go here. The food here is hit or miss. However, the consistency in which they mess up your order is amazing! Seriously do you want a roll? Here, have a biscuit. This place is a real tease if you're hungry. They're slow and boy oh boy do they try and get you not to order the fish. Just say That's fine I'll wait and you can hear them actually rolling their eyes. Went back to try this place again....everytime I do, I am disappointed. Tonight I ordered three dinners with sides and rolls. I checked my order when I received it as it has never been right. In a small brown bag was my corn nuggets and two smashed rolls. (ordered three and certainly did not expect them to be broken, smashed and rolling around in a brown paper bag with my corn nuggets. I went in with the bag....waited around 3 minutes for someone to pay attention to me....in that time, a young man (later found out it was the manager) came out and started talking to the other employees about how a customer was really mad at him...they seemed to be enjoying that conversation. He saw me, did not acknowledge me and walked away. Finally a female employee walked up....I showed her my rolls, asked if that is how they serve rolls, told her I was missing one (I was holding these smashed rolls in my hand)...she walked away before I finished speaking, threw some more rolls in a box, handed them to me and told me I could either eat the two rolls in my hand or throw them away and walked away. Rude, no customer service at all and obviously cares nothing about the customer. I asked to speak with the manager...he came out...apologized, offered me a drink and told me he would take care of it. I doubt that he does judging by the conversation he was having with the employees when I walked into the restaurant. I will not return. I have given this restaurant too many tries only to be disappointed and angry time and time again. Someone needs to take a long look at this place of business and teach them some customer service. Or go to Chick Fil A....they could teach them a thing or two. read more

Good chicken, poor service. At times, the wait for your order is much longer than it should be. A month ago, we ordered a family pack and we were shorted two pieces of chicken. This past weekend, we were shorted 3 pieces of chicken, and did not receive our family order of fries. Due to time constraints, we did not go back to complain. My best advice.....CHECK your order before you leave to make sure you get everything you paid for! I think our visits to this location are done. read more
