We've been Denny's GBC several times and always have had a great experience. Jenny is normally our server and the food is quality and presents as expected. They have a million options and even carry sugar free syrup for diabetics eating pancakes/French toast The price is also very reasonable for what you get. read more

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by Darrian & she was super friendly and seemed to actually like working there ~ so many at other restaurants don't. My chicken fried steak with broc/squash and mashed potatoes with cream gravy was great! My grandson had bacon cheeseburger and he loved it. We both had to have to go boxes. We live about 20 mins away and will be definitively making the drive more often. 10/10 read more

We ate at GBC Dennys almost everyday until about 2 weeks ago. We went for lunch and the waitress took our order no problem. I asked if they the items in stock and she said and her husband was cooking. After 20 minutes I walked to the register to ask someone what the hold up was. No one responders to me and the waitress was yelling back at her husband who was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. She came out and started talking to some people who came in, they ordered breakfast and it came out with 8 minutes. Another couple who had been there as long as we were just looked at us, like what's the problem, our food is not out either. After another 30 minutes and the waitress chit chatting with some others, We got up, I tapped on the shoulder and said cancel our order, we are leaving. Today we decided to try one more time. The same cook was there, the young oriental girl waited on us. We ordered the classic burgers and mine came out very under cooked, the buns were soggy wet from the lettuce laying in water and placed straight onto the bun. With so few restaurants in this area I would think y'all would have better people working in the kitchen. That is probably our last time, with my husband being very ill with cancer, it's not worth making him sick with poorly cooked food or no food at all. we've been eating there for a couple of years now and had no real issue until this last weekend we decided we wanted to go there for dinner. Huge mistake, I ordered chicken fried steak with eggs and a side of toast. I noticed the meat had a twang to it so I started looking at it and it was absolutely raw, then I finally received my toast and it was literally black. The manager Kennie was sent over when I got the waitress involved. Manager was nice enough and took it off of our bill but I had still eaten 1/4 of a raw chicken fried steak and was disgusted the rest of the night. read more

Took a couple minutes to be seated even though it was dead. Food took FOREVER to come out. Thankfully it tasted okay & our waitress was sweet which is the only reason there are 2 stars. We sat near the kitchen which you couldn't hear the restaurant music over their screamo & hard rock being played. Son's soda tasted terrible & only mistake on food was we ordered a burger (no cheese) & still got a cheese burger. Pancakes have no flavor at all. Got a couple $5 off $20 coupons for our bad experience but gave them to others in the restaurant as we walked out.. lol Probably won't be back as this was not a good first impression with Denny's. Made a mistake tonight... we came here again! ‍ We are 2 hours in & we have a drink and some ranch in a bowl (we have no clue what to do with the ranch as our meals we have been waiting on don't require it.)... Let me start by saying we had a huge family reunion of 17 people who were set together and served by one waitress. She was great and everyone else's food was absolutely correct even down to what people were drinking except for me. She forgot my drink and my food. Personally I think for the number of people that was pretty impressive for any waitress. The food was okay... typical Denny's or iHop type stuff.. it would not be my top choice to go to again when visiting family again. read more

Horrible and slow service combined with low quality greasy food served by rude and poorly trained people. We had to ask for everything at least twice. No napkins, no salt shakers and asking for an extra plate was a monumental task. What Denny's management and ownership needs to understand is that the late shift manager, the lady ( and I use the term very loosely) in the blue shirt was using horribly offensive language and cussing loudly at everything including the weather.!! Good was sizzling hot but nasty and greasy. Had to ask three times and wait for 7 minutes to get a plate and a napkin. Regardless, I would never go back to the Denny's in Gun Barrell and Mabank, TX. No Stars! Where this place USED to be good, it has really gone down hill. Staff is rude, it took my son 2 hours to get a Slam Burger, then they got upset when he complained. Honestly it became an ordeal, where the waitress chssed him into the lot, when he removed himself from the place to wait for us to come get him. (Yes, he is a minor). When we arrived, she started screaming at my wife. when I requested a manager, she said she called him, but he never showed. We waited for 40 minutes. During that time, she never went back inside, just sat shouting at us across the lot, then she called the police, who we awaited as well. Unlike the non-exsistent management, the Police did come. Took our statement, sent her inside, and we left. What a total freak show this place is. So far, no one will give me the GM's name an number so we can talk. read more

Order is wrong every time I come here. They had to take it back. And I had to ask for the rest of the food back that was not wrong. Because I was starving. We had waited 45-60 minutes before we even got any food at all. I what I had and still no correct order. I had to ask for it to go because it's going on an hr 45 minutes that we have been here. And they are not even busy. There are 10 empty tables. I have no idea what the problem is. We would have spent half the day here if the tables were full!!! Darrian is AWESOME! My girlfriend and I came in at midnight to a pretty packed restaurant. We were told that only the 2 4 6 8 menu was available and the wait time on food was 30 minutes due to new kitchen staff in training. No problem at all. Not only was Darrian very attentive, the entire staff was hustling as fast as they could and you could see and hear it. When our food arrived, it was hot and fresh and exactly what we wanted and how. If I made more money, I would've tipped the entire staff for working so hard to maintain efficiency and great customer service! Great job guys! read more

Upon hearing such a name one conjures up images of dusty cowpokes, guns holstered, quietly waiting for the next round of whiskey to be served to the card table. As such, the demographic from which Denny's derives it's staffing are no kidding around 'get r' done' people. Therefore, buckle up yer belt and slip on your boots cowhand, because you're in for a cattle drive of epic proportions. I ordered 3 pieces of bacon, French toast, and 4 eggs. That doesn't exist on the menu. I just wanted it. Did my waitress, TK, seize up in fear at the hearing of such an out of the norm request? Did she attempt to maneuver me into pre-established commodity menu items as so many establishments do? No! She got r' done! Going to her Zen place, she first calmed the mind and controlled the situation by pouring a cup of coffee. Then, she skillfully placed the creamer on the table with no hint of nervousness and uttered these profound words 'I got ya!' I fell helplessly into a complete state of trust as I gave up my very being - yeah even my very breakfast order! I trusted my custom order to this half angel, half Zen Master, and half prophet*. When my meal arrived it was perfect - just as this prophet foretold. The eggs were cooked to perfection, over medium; their bright yellow yolks facing upwards shining more radiant than the very sun itself. The bacon, crispy as freshly ironed IBM employee's white shirt** from the 70's. Lastly, the French toast, drizzled with syrup by my own hands, glistened with an alluring call to my saliva glands much akin to the irresistible sirens of the great seas. As I overheard another Denny's employee speak of his soon to come Masters degree, clearly indicating the high standards present at this Denny's, I could not help but drift into a mindful contemplation 'What is the meaning of life but to come here and fall into bliss and ignore the passing of time for all eternity.' The mature, attentive waitstaff was not there, food is the slowest I've experienced in any other Denny's in the nation, in addition to being lukewarm and tasteless. My mom and dad are frequent regulars of the Gun Barrel City location of Denny's. They usually really enjoy their Tuesday night dinners. I joined them last night (Thursday), and had a very different experience. I was starving when we got there...I quickly decided on a bacon avacado burger and onion rings. I ordered a side of bbq sauce (onion ring dipping). My parents ordered their normal breakfast and Cobb salad. When our order arrived the waitress sat a burger covered in bbq sauce and mushrooms in front of me. I told her that wasn't what I had ordered. I repeated my order to her again, stressing bbq sauce in the side. She took my order back and tried to bring me the onion rings (with no bbq sauce). No..... I want my dinner brought out together. I sat starving watching my family eat for 45 minutes. As they were finishing up she finally sat a new plate in front of me. A burger covered in BBQ SAUCE! I waited starving for 45 minutes to get the wrong order twice?!? I sent the food back, had them remove it from from our bill and went through the drive thru at taco bell for dinner. Very disappointing and frustrating. I will not be returning. Either the wait staff isn't listening, or the cook's can't read. read more

I will never drop a dime in this place,the service was ok was just my wife and my there as customers,her pancakes was ok,I ordered biscuit and sausage gravy,I didn't get any sausage so I asked if I could order a side and she asked if they had any sausage cooked,they said no and she politely told me they didn't have any cooked,I had ordered 3 orders of the sausage gravy and biscuits to take home to my dogs,I ended up getting a to go for my biscuits and gravy,it tasted awful,I paid full price for everything and when I got home my dogs just looked at it and turned away,the look they gave me,I told them I was sorry I couldn't eat the crap myself,from now on if Huddle House is late opening I'll just wait until they do,good luck if you try this place read more

Lets see where to begin. I ordered Over medium eggs and the first time they came out they were burnt. I sent them back got the new ones back and they were slimy. So I didnt eat them. Hashbrowns crisp doesn't mean stick them in the fryer. It means cook them a little longer on the grill. I am guessing the cook has had no training. My husband ordered scrambled eggs and they were burnt as well. He will not complain so he ate them. read more

This end of calendar year 2022; the cooks, servers, & back of house workers did a tremendous job serving the lake community and visitors from the Dallas metroplex. Specifically, Brittany G and Jennie on one side - and - the #1 employee Debra & Angela R. On the larger dining room side. All tables were full of extended family groups & I overheard many compliments for the hard working staff. As noon approached the general manager ( Brie Morton) assisted with the meet, greet, seat, and serve responsibility. It was extremely busy on Friday,Saturday, Sunday, & Monday. VERY FEW COMPLAINTS - or - WALK OUTS. People of varied generations were allowed to eat their meals at their leisure, then sit & socialize. The overall atmosphere was festive; predominantly due to the wait staff's diligence/ courtesy. To say everyone on staff worked hard is an understatement. The owner ( mister Jimmy) and the area manager ( mister Adolfo) should be enlightened on their "crews" hard work -- manager, wait staff, cooks, & dishwashers. I love Denny's but this location is not my favorite. The 3 stars is strictly because all the employees were so nice and happy. This was my free grand slam birthday meal so I did not complain that my egg yolks were totally cooked, instead of runny as I requested. What the worse thing was is this was odd smell that was not appealing. The couple that came in behind me described it perfectly when they said it smells like fish. One waitress said fish is on menu but that they hadn't served any today. I believe another waitress may have said it was do to the AC humidifier. It was clean dining and restroom area though. Just that smell was off putting. Other than the eggs the food was wonderful and so much that brought home half my meal. I will go back here but prefer another location that is newer. My aunt and I had lunch today @ Denny's GBC, and Angela was our waitress. She is always extremely pleasant and very attentive.

We had Brianna T as our server and she was the worst server I've ever had, we asked for a drink and she rolled her eyes and never came to check on us the whole time we sat there with empty drinks the whole time. I'm not sure why they keep people working there who have horrible customer service. Maybe she shouldn't work in customer service if she is going to act like she hates her job the whole time. Probably won't be coming back just because of this experience. read more
