Very disappointing experience at the Chicken Express in Hillsboro, Texas. First, they charge 15¢ for each extra seasoning packet. Charging customers extra for such a small item feels like nothing more than nickel-and-diming. To make matters worse, they completely forgot about my order. After waiting much longer than I should have, I went to the counter to ask about it. That's when I watched the employees quickly put my order together. They claimed they were "waiting on fresh chicken," but that simply wasn't true--I had been watching the chicken sitting there the entire time. Poor customer service, an unnecessary charge for seasoning, and then forgetting a customer's order is not a good combination. I won't be returning to this location. The owners should understand that nickel-and-diming customers while providing poor service is exactly how you lose repeat business. read more

Well it's 3:45 on Sunday. Coming home from a funeral and figured we'd get some fish & chicken. Bad idea. 15 tables ( 1 in use ) and 13 of the remaining 14 were filthy! Not super busy but guess what the excuse was. Short on help, been swamped and couldn't stop a couple minutes to clean off tables and sweep the nasty floor. I don't know if it's just help in Hillsboro or just this Chicken Express. Oh and did I mention the flies everywhere? So tired of places not caring. Just really on the sane ole same ole. read more

To start off, I don't usually write reviews. I only tend to do them if the service was really good or really bad. I've been to this location regularly for the past 7 years and service has always been subpar at best. I went again today to get a HUGE order right when they opened. I got a 30 piece family meal with 3 sides. Not only did I get my order out in less than 15 minutes, the staff was nice, all my pieces are good pieces, not the skimpy little pieces they like to throw in, and my gravy and rolls were AMAZING! I'm beyond thrilled with the staff y'all have on hand and plan on coming back soon. read more

I eat at CE a lot and this store was at least on par with the others. I ordered 3 thighs and a roll and was served promptly. The thighs were hot and freshly cooked, but a bit greasy. The roll was very good. Not all CEs have the same design. Some have the drink fountain and condiments out for the customer to select, some only have the fountain, and some have neither. This one had neither and I'm not a fan. Having to ask for salt, sweetener, and lemon juice is annoying. All in all a decent Sunday afternoon driving meal and break from the road. read more

I love Chicken Express, however, I do not appreciate paying more and getting less. They have a 7 piece tender combo for 14.99. I did not need the drink as I was taking it home to eat. What I got was the combo less the drink and it cost me 2.00 MORE not to have a drink. When I asked the person at the window about it costing more than the same thing less the drink she just said yeah, not "let me get you a drink and we'll charge you the combo price instead". SERIOUSLY!! Needless to say they just lost a customer due to NO customer service. read more

Literally the worst customer service I've ever had! Went through the drive-thru at 9:25 and ordered two #1's w/ biscuits. The biscuits are the besssttt, so we were super excited. We waited 7-8 minutes at the window, and we watched as 4 or 5 employees milled about inside, mopping the floors and cleaning the counters. FINALLY someone decided to come to the window, but she then proceeded to mess up our order twice and had to charge our card multiple times because she kept getting the order wrong. We kept repeating two #1's w/ biscuits. THEN, she informed us it would take another 6 min before we could actually get our chicken tenders, because they didn't have any ready as they were getting ready to close. I looked at the clock. It was 9:34 at this point, and they close at 10. Why would they not be prepared for at least another 30 min worth of customers? But we love chicken express tenders, so we decided to wait anyway. 6 min became 10 min, and I truly started to contemplate my entire existence. Why am I getting fast food after 9 anyway? Why didn't I just go to the Whataburger next door? Did these employees even know what the term "express" means? What felt like ages later, we finally got our food! We couldn't have driven away fast enough, honestly. Checked our boxes, excited that we could enjoy our long awaited meals... Aaaaaand they forgot the biscuits!! This whole experience was both traumatizing and laughable. I would never wish it upon another person! Hoping that things are fixed so that it doesn't happen again. read more

This place needs help. The runner and cashier were very apologetic and nice. There's a very huge disconnect with the people cooking the food. Literally waited 25 minutes for a #1 with a family order of poppers. People came and went but my order was delayed for some time. My first order had 2 orders of fries and I never ordered fries. Like I said the cashier and runner were very nice, but damn it's chicken tenders. It's not that hard. read more

I normally don't do reviews unless it is terrible or exceptional good. To my surprise this place was on the exceptionally good side for fast food fried chicken. Living in Houston we have a lot to choose from, I just wish this place was around. Not a crispy crust, but a good old southern batter crust, just right. But the real treat was how well it was cooked. Still moist inside, like you get at home and spiced just right. My first time to go to Hillsboro. Seems like it had a lot of nice gems. read more

Stopped here on my way back to Austin. Came through the drive-through ordered 2 meals and corn nuggets. They forgot to put my corn nuggets in my bag and when I brought it to their attention they told me I would have to wait 3 minutes so they could make some more and they would bring it out to me. So I return to my car and started eating my food with my family. When my corn nuggets finally came out I needed a refill on my drink so I went inside to get my tea refilled. The lady at the front desk said they could not feel my drink because I didn't eat inside. Which to me is kind of crazy because I was sitting in the drive-through line waiting for them to make some more corn nuggets because they forgot to put my order together before giving it to me yet they couldn't refill my drink because I was sitting there waiting in my car. I don't normally sit outside in the parking lot to do a review on food.... I'm fat and like to eat, so I usually have great experiences with restaurants. I sit here because this is the WORST I have ever gotten from chicken express. In a small town on Sunday evening and every other restaurant I passed to get here was packed, but I drove over here because I was craving some good quality chicken strips, but this was not the case. I travel the state of Texas for the past 4 yrs for work and I eat chicken express when I can due to consistently good food and service. This hillsboro location was by far the worst ever. The staff was more busy chatting with each other about who broke the credit card machine and who was going to pay for it, than to give a smile my way as she listened to her coworkers about it only needing a password. My food came out promptly, but was in very low quality as for taste.... the salt content was higher than McDonald's French fries use to be. They drew what looked like a frowning smilies face on the lid of my mash potatoes and after starting to eat them I understood that was a warning about the bland flavor, except for its high salt content also. The gravy was watery and not very good, so it wasn't even used to dip the salty chicken strips into. The cold ice tea was the only saving grace to this whole meal. During the entirety of my meal, I ate 3 of the 7 piece meal I ordered while listening to the staff cutting up, laughing, shouting, and being very loud while playing around behind the counter. Now I understand why such a usually good chicken place is so avoided in a small town.... only 2 customers were in the restaurant while I ate and none else came in to eat even as I threw the remainder of my food away. I would have given this place just one star, but I reserve that for the restaurants that can't get anything right... the tea got you your second star.. this place deserved less. And I will have to strongly reconsider chicken express in the future if I am in hillsboro, tx again. read more

We went into this location close to close to get something to go really quick. They told us to go in the drive thru, so we did and there were two other cars. By the time we got to the front they said that they were closed & we explained what the person inside said. They said the manager said "the system closes down at 10" which is just not true. Traveling through stopped to order to go. Once I was at my destination tried to eat what was purchased at this Chicken E location. Absolutely the worst tasting chicken I ever tasted. The chicken had an old used cooking oil taste to it. The okra was burnt and overall I threw away and went elsewhere. 30.00 for chicken, okra and mash potatoes wasted. Stopped in for a quick dinner on way from Dallas to Austin 11-30-12. The atmosphere of this resturant was very welcoming. The dining area was decorated with tasteful Christmas decorations, Christmas music was playing, the staff was very friendly and the resturant was clean. The food was also good. I just want to say THANK YOU to the owner, manager and staff for your Christmas spirit and being proud to acknowkedge that Christ is the Reason for the Season. read more
