I literally walked out of this place due to the horrible treatment. When I placed my order, the man at the counter told me that I could not have skin added to my meal because they had none sitting in a bin. I asked if he could remove it from a chicken on the grill and was told no, we don't do it that way. When I explained that literally every time I've asked for skin they just pull it off of chicken on the grill I was told that they don't do that because of "people like you [me]". It was then explained to me that "Pulling the skin off of a piece of chicken dries it out and then people like you want it extra juicy and won't eat it." After the second "people like you," I asked what he meant by that and reminded him that he does not know me. I continued with my order (obviously with no skin). When he went to put on the beans, I asked for light on the juice. At this point, he looked at me and put extra bean juice onto my meal. I should have left at that point but was willing to stay and simply said, I asked for "little juice, not extra juice," and asked for a fresh bowl. The man grabbed a Large bowl (I had asked for small) and started making a new meal. He began to laugh and say loudly, "but you tell me that I don't know you" (while laughing and shaking his head). Food is fine, just like any other chicken kitchen. I'm giving it 3 stars for its idiotic relocation and complete inability to serve people physically in the store. I went to go pick up food a month ago. Its supposed to be fast food, so I park and go inside, and order. This used to be a free experience but now costs $3 an hour. Awesome. I get there and its a line of 5 people. I figure, yea this is probably like 10 minutes. Wrong. It took over 30. The only reaosn I know this is because I had to add to the meter on PaybyPhone. Meanwhile, the reason this occurred is because they prioritize mobile orders. So us plebians who dared to walk inside to such an outdated thing had to wait as they ran out of not only rice, but chicken too because they were trying to fulfull uber eats. Guess what. If you were doing that hoping that they're more likely to write a shit review for you and I wouldn't... guess again! I'm never walking in your building again. Ok, I dont know where the bad reviews are coming from regarding chicken kitchen. This is a sourh Miami staple for anyone who lives there. It is the go to for fresh chicken (cooked right in front of you), fresh vegetables, pita bread, and whatever sauces u want. It is simple, but that grilled chicken breast over a bed of yellow rice, is just amazing. And...the portions are incredibly generous for the price. I went to The mo'f#%in' U!! 2 degrees and 7 years down there. I can't count the number of times I had chop chop...on a regular day, and even better after a hang over. I was so hungry during my walk around Miami Beach and found this place to grab some food. The battery of my mousy phone was dead and I had no chance to find some place by my favorite Yelp. Area was not very bright or interesting when you look at this from outside. But I dreamed about chicken during the las two hours so the name of this cafe was very attractive for me. Chicken Kitchen includes many different CHOP-CHOPs so I chose one. There was some misunderstanding with guy who made my chop because he added onion and wrong sauce in it. I hate oniooooon! He made a new one for me. I can't say that it was full with people or mouses ^_^ but there was soooo loudly inside. A lil bit dirty are. Food was good and cheap. Tasty grilled chicken made me happy in 5 mins. But in total I can give only 3 mousy star to this place also because the put not enough cheese in my dish. read more

Chicken was bone dry, some of the worst chicken I've ever eaten. The ONLY reason this gets 2 stars is the sides are amazing, cilantro rice, tomato salad, and corn salad were all delicious. The sauces were great too, but I ordered garlic cilantro, fresh salsa, and curry mustard and the curry mustard wasn't included which was a real shame because the chicken had to be drowned in sauce to be anywhere near edible. I used to visit regularly while attending UMiami years ago. I visited Sunday, December 2 2019. I ordered the large deluxe chicken chop & my date got the regular chicken chop. Where do I begin with the issues? First, they put lettuce in my dates meal & she is allergic. They got most of it out, so fine. Second, I asked for more well done chicken & recieved a dirty look, as the chef begrudging chopped it up. Since said chicken looked undercooked, I requested he put the more burnt parts in. Third, the credit card machine was nonfunctional. The cashier tried to get it to work for about 5 minutes & I stood there while my food became cold & my date awkwardly waited at the table. Fourth, I witnessed the head chef harshly demean his assistant who barely spoke English in front of about 10 patrons. It was embarrassing. Fifth, I had to ask for Pita Bread instead of it being included, and it was hard as a rock. Finally, it took the cashier another 5 minutes to find spoons for us. This was our first date, but everything left a sour taste. After all that how was the food? Fine, just fine. Nothing special. Either I got bigger or the portion sizes became smaller, as when I had the bowls from Chicken Kitchen years ago it was significantly larger. They say you cannot go back in time, and I will never go back here. I will save my fond memories from my college years, and leave childish things behind. read more

I haven't been to this location in what seemed like forever since my addiction to chop-chops simmered down (no pun intended.) I'm a fan of the oriental chop-chop but I opted for chicken breast this time as I ordered an original version of their most recognizable menu item and added scallions and sesame seeds on top for the perfect mix of both worlds. I do wish they offered white rice as well but the brown rice seems to work quite well. I'm not a beans girl for the most part so I load up in tomatoes instead. Sometimes, if you ask nicely they'll offer a touch of the spring mix instead of the shredded iceberg they usually use. While everyone usually flocks towards the curry mustard sauce, I opt for the pink vinaigrette instead. It emulsifies all the flavors quite well and brings everything together just the way I like. If you are interested in sharing, the larger portion would be ideal. For a single serving, I recommend the regular size as it's quite filling on its own. It's within walking distance to most of the SoMi area by Sunset drive and offers a quick and affordable lunch option for those in the area. read more

Despite that fact that this once local lunch spot is now a mass franchised operation, the chop chop is no different tasting today than it was 15 years ago. But their "RyanAir-ization" of the lunch experience does not allow me to rate them very highly. I stopped by for a quick "healthy" and supposedly budget conscious work lunch today. After all, I wouldnt want to ruin my renewed working out with a very rich meal. Granted, Chicken Kitchen is relatively tasty health food which can be supplemented with some sauces. Their sweet and sour sauce (yeah I know I talked about healthy. At least I didn't use the whole package) is to die for and still included in the price of your meal. Their chicken was lean without being tasteless, but all their fine print for a healthier meal (50 cents extra for brown rice??) almost doubles the price of a meal! The Chicken Kitchen franchise, this location, the owner, and the staff of this establishment had gone through so much over the years that to arrive here and find it improved is almost a shock. I won't tell the whoooole story, but I will review this location. First of all, this place is brighter. They have changed the decor, apparently long time ago, and the menu is also slightly different. Also, they've added bilingual people. But all of this is marginal to the more important subject: the food. I ordered a few things since it was another family day on my agenda, and for some reason I had been craving a chop-chop. I used to eat those at a rate of once a week at another location. Always once a week though, that way I give other food places an equal opportunity to wow me. So here I am, the first in line to order a chop-chop. I did find the service a little bit impersonal, but as long as I am getting my chop-chop and you are charging me right, we got no beef (no pun intended). We also got a quesadilla, a teriyaki chop-chop, and a wrapito. Not only were all good, but all were great. Even the sauces were the right thickness. On the chop-chops the rice was al dente, the chicken was soft and the vegetables were fresh. Just good all around, and I was certainly impressed. To calm my sweet tooth, I got a sweet potato with marshmallows, and even though it was good, it tasted like if it was mass made, or out of a can. This was a crucial point, because if it wasn't for that, I would have just walked out of there in a trance, and rated this location 5 stars. But I was awaken and yes, sometimes, no matter how great they are, franchises get 4 stars. read more

My very personal opinion, it is way better than pollo tropical :) This location specifically has been there since I was a kid and I have never had a bad experience. The chicken kitchen by sunset mall doesn't not care about customers. They kicked people out 20 minuets before closing because they did not feel like making more chicken. They were rude and screamed at the top of their lungs at 9:45 pm when they close at 10:00 pm that they have no chicken and will not be making more. The entire staff was rude about their closing time. I have always been a BIG fan of Chicken Kitchen, in particular this location. I feel that their food is sensible and fresh. However, they have recently changed their prices (which are now higher) and reduced the portion sizes at the same time! The ORIGINAL CHOP CHOP now only contains 3 oz of chicken. We are talking less than 1/2 a cup! The LARGE portions of the LOW CARB CHOP CHOP contains only 4 oz of chicken. While the taste is still good and the food is not greasy fast-food, its no longer a value and/or worth the new prices.... Buyer beware! read more

Better than the other chicken place (you know, the one that is right up US-1 by the Radio Shack across from UM) since they still let you take unlimited curry sauce and salsa. If you are in Miami for a night, skip out on the high priced South Beach restaurants. $6 and you're all set here. Also, if you're a UM student, it's a 10% discount. One of the best fast food choices There was a time when I used to eat here 5 times a week so i can say that the quality of their food has stay consistent throughout the years. This Is one of the best fast food choices if you want to stay healthy. You could order their traditional chop chop which is not a terrible unhealthy choice or you could make it even healthier by ordering a chicken Caesar salad which they make delicious and always fresh. I prefer going here to any other fast-food places, including Pollo Tropical which may seem similar. My college friends introduced me to this place. This is Chicken Kitchen's main dish, the chop-chop: Chopped white-meat chicken served over a bed of rice with various toppings (lettuce, cheese, tomato, black beans, etc) and sauces (curry mustard, sweet-sour, salsa, cranberry, etc) on the side. They grill the meat on an open grill and everything is customized for you. Side dishes are offered like salads, veggies, etc. but one regular chop-chop will fill you up. read more

The chop was good as always but the guy making food didn't say one word to either myself out my friend while her made or food. Complete silence, a crappy pissed off look on his face. When I told the guy I wanted it to go he casually tossed the plastic top on my food with out closing it like if he was annoyed I had asked. This is one of the reasons I come back to Miami. It's for CHICKEN KITCHEN! I love their mexican chop-chop with the curry sauce, it tastes so good. The service can vary depending on who you get. Not to be mean (oh hell it's going to still sound it) they have a couple of employees who aren't the brightest in the bunch. I get my mexican chop-chop with no beans and no tomatoes. A bed of shredded lettuce is topped with chopped tomato, and the all-famous chopped chicken. Add a drizzle of the not-so-healthy curry mustard to dress your greens, but also to enhance incredible flavor from the marinated grilled chicken. Yum! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Great food but when you substitute lettuce instead of rice the portion shrinks and is small. Asked for a little lettuce on the Teriyaki with rice and they never said a word that there was an extra charge. A few pieces of lettuce and they charged me .49. I am not cheap but they did not say it would be extra. Be honest. When I said something to the mostly Spanish speaking manager she brushed me off like they do not care. I think overall, Chicken Kitchen in general has really gone downhill. The portions are nowhere near what they used to be, the chicken is tasteless and not even the pita is automatically given to you anymore. You need to ask for it. I've always been a fan of Chicken Kitchen - the quality of the food has been for as long as I can remember consistent and delicious - that was until today. My sister and I ordered the No Carb Bowl via Uber Eats and the bowl we got was more of a soup than a salad. It was liquidy, cold and overall gross. Not to mention we paid for guacamole and we got a "cute" little note attached to our order saying "Sorry :(". Chicken Kitchen has been there for so long. It's a very reliable source of your chop chop needs. For those who are not savvy, chop chop is a delicious combination of rice, chicken, and sometimes other things depending on what type you get. A mexican chop chop for instance would have black beans, guac, and cheese. They have very good white chicken. Out of all the fast chicken possibilities, chicken kitchen is one of the best. I personally prefer the cuban chop chop. The great part is getting to select the sauces you want to top your beautiful chop chop. My personal favorite is yellow curry. read more
