I've been eating here for breakfast with my parents for years and they have yet to disappoint. On occasion every now and then I will order Pan Con Bistec for lunch and they are always nice and hot and taste amazing! The service when we dine in is pretty consistent and the servers are very helpful. We have been eating at Las Dos Palmas for about 2 years now. Only lunch (dine-in) and dinner (take out). If you havent tried this spot, you don't know what you're missing! The food is SO sabroso (delicious) and extremely consistent from visit to visit. Every menu item I have tried has been fantastic. Service is always spot on. If you're craving Cuban food, this is the place to go. Although it is more of a chill restaurant, kinda like a cafeteria in a way, there food is bomb. And when I say bomb, I think it is bomb.com. There portions are ridiculous they can feed two people if not three! I normally get the chicken milensa or the beef milensa. Which comes with twos sides. Hidden in a warehouse district, yet conveniently located by The Falls, "LAS DOS PALMAS" is a familiar old stomping ground of mine. An old friend of mine & I used to frequent this place back in 2003 to 2004. It was usually a decent experience back then. I have not been here too often since then, but, when I do come, it is always just to get coffee at the walk-up window outside. Walk-up window rating would be at least 3 stars. Yesterday morning, I decided to go INSIDE and sit down and have breakfast ... first time in about 13 years. And it will be my LAST time, too!! In spite of half a dozen employees on duty, nobody greeted me as I entered. I took a seat at the counter and still was not even acknowledged by half a dozen employees who walked right by me several times. I noticed that their billboard style menu was missing prices, so I looked around for a regular menu, hoping to find prices. No "regular" menus, but I did find a stack of "To Go" menus by the register. I took one so that I could at least scope out the prices. I continued to wait a while, as if I was invisible. Finally ... I was approached in Spanish (better than nothing.) I ordered their #2 Breakfast for $4.50 ... Eggs, bacon, tostada, and cafe con leche. The eggs & bacon were ok. The tostada was good. The cafe con leche was very good ... This is one of those places where they bring you the cup of milk and the mini pitcher of coffee so you can make it how you like it and add your own sugar. I like it like that. My waitress was nice. However ... As soon as I had entered this restaurant, I sensed that there was a general coldness/awkwardness/indifference in the air. I did not feel welcome. It seems that there is low morale amongst the employees. Hardly anybody smiled. You get the impression that nobody cares whether you are there or not. When it was time to pay the bill, I presented the waitress with my credit card and she informed me that there is a minimum charge of $5.00. My bill was $4.82. She asked me if it would be ok for them to charge me $5.00 instead of $4.82. (What?!) I know it's only 18 cents, but i am a principle-oriented individual. I came up with a better idea ... I told the waitress to add one dollar to my bill for her tip. $4.82 + $1.00= $5.82. Problem solved. Right? Wrong. The cashier ended up, somehow, charging a total of $6.67 to my card. (What?!) When I questioned this, my waitress brought the bill back to the cashier and, at one point, there were three employees mulling over my bill. They got out a calculator. Did some calculating. Eventually, one of the cashiers handed the waitress some cash to bring to me. She brought me $1.67. I hesitated, and my waitress knew something was still wrong. Then she brought me 18 cents. Phwew, that was mentally exhausting to deal with mathematically-challenged individuals. I left my tip and left, vowing to never eat inside ever again. read more

So here's the deal. You want coffee, no you need coffee. And now. And you are so sick of the same old rip-me-off Chai Latte at Starbucks, and you can still taste this mornings Supersized Iced Coffee from McDonalds. So that's where Dos Palmas comes in. This place is before the Falls and tucked away by some warehouses off of 132nd next to a hidden Publix. You really won't see this place or go here unless you are driving by and you pump the brakes like "Woah! Is that a little cafe in the middle of nowhere?" or ya know... someone could mention it to, like this here review on yelp, and you stop sometime in the future when your caffeine gas tank is low. Otherwise, you wouldn't find this place and will continue your life Dos Palmas free. I usually grab a $2.50 Grande Cafe Con Leche to help keep me chugging on like only the energizer bunny can. It's a large cup and perfectly sweetened, not bitter and also not mouth cringing sugar overdose inducing. Parking is right in front, run up and your done in less than 5 minutes, no make that 3. They've got pastries too if you need something more cause you may not have had enough sugar yet. Otherwise, I don't see why anyone would really go here to be honest. My favorite little Cuban restaurant/cafe! I learned about this place because of my last job, all of the customers would order take out from here & my managers would also cater with them from time to time. Anyways, their food is amazing! Authentic Cuban food at very fair prices. I have had several items from their menu and I never had any regrets about anything I ordered. My favorite from them though is the Sopa de Pollo :) yummy. Their prices are so much cheaper than Casavana or Sergio's, even with the delivery charge. They are kind of hidden, you have to really look for them, you wouldn't see the place unless you were lost or looking for it specifically. But all in all I would 100% suggest that you make an effort to eat there at some point, there are so many Cuban restaurants here in Miami but it's not too easy to find one with great food, amazing prices, and really good customer service! I usually order my food to go or have it delivered, since I live locally they have a delivery service which is amazing. It's great to wake up and just order a little breakfast at a very reasonable price and have it delivered right to my door. I decided to have lunch there and the service was outstanding as usual, the girl was very attentive and knew how to prioritize in order to give me and my girlfriend a very pleasurable experience. I don't speak Spanish and I did appreciate her patience and amazing sense of humor with my limited/ terrible Spanish skills. I find myself there quite often, working in the industrial area in the falls, its the only place to get - somewhat- quick food. Kinda dirty and shabby. the girl in the outside counter will completely ignore your existence until shes done with whatever shes doing. i wait there with one other person for like 5 minutes to just get asked what i want, and god forbid if you pay with anything that's not exact change, don't expect to get your change for another 10 minutes. Dos Palmas is about what you would expect for a Cuban diner serving the blue-collar workers in the industrial area near the Falls. It's definitely not fancy but they've got all the Cuban standards. The inside has a lunch counter, tables, and there's the obligatory outdoor counter as well. The staff is friendly and they go the extra mile during lunch rush to make sure that no one ends up waiting. Portions are generous and prices are pretty good compared to other Cuban restaurants in Miami - $8.50 for Pollo Milanesa, $4.50 for a Media Noche, etc. Realistically, I probably wouldn't go way out of my way to eat here, but if you're in the area looking for a quick lunch of some good quality Cuban food at a reasonable price, this is the place for you. read more

WRONG ORDER - RUDE - YELLING - NIGHTMARE I was referred to this restaurant by a co-worker and have ordered from here multiple times. Today I called and ordered a Turkey BLT sandwich and went to pick it up. For my surprise, I get back to work and opened the bag and I received a BLT sandwich without the turkey. I thought it was a joke so I called and told them I was bringing the sandwich back. When I arrive at the restaurant the entire staff and the manager were waiting for me at the entrance. Instead of listening to my complaint or request, they started YELLING at me, saying that's what "I ordered" and if I wanted the turkey added I would have to pay extra. The manager claimed he has never heard of a Turkey BLT, which is a common american sandwich. Not only did they mess up my order and made me drive back to the restaurant, but they wanted me to pay additional for their mistake. I asked them to return my payment and they were RUDE the entire time. I couldn't even get a word in the discussion. I don't care to much about a simple sandwich. The problem could have been dealt with better from their part instead of attacking me by yelling. I felt uncomfortable and cornered the entire time! I currently work at a music school close by and we have over 140 students and parents that go to that restaurant ON OUR REFERRAL! Ill make sure to let them know that the employees and manager there are horrible and not professional. They lack customer service skills, just lost a customer and many to come!
