I love the food here, however, I tried their chicharrones dish for the very first time and was disappointed. I waited almost 1/2 hr to get a dish that was extremely blandmeat was tough and no flavor! I immediately went to Costco and bought me a slab of pork belly. The pic is my final product! Delicious. I'm looking for a restaurant that serves good crispy pork belly in Waldorf?

Not what I expected. No flavor this time

Update: Someone has responded to my review, seemingly defending the experience I had. No we did not pick our food up after the recommended time for p/u when I placed the order. We have young children and we like to feed them well before 9 so we definitely didn't come at closing time. Nonetheless as I said the experiences we've had since the fire are definitely less enjoyable. ------------Chicken Rico was once our families favorite no cooking night meal. Once they had that fire and did renovations, we have seen a big change in everything; the gravy is very watery now, the chicken has less flavor, the prices are higher. It's just not the same, unfortunately. In our most recent visit I called ahead and placed an order for Lomo saltado. My sister also placed an order for pick up of half chicken and sides, my husband went to pick up our orders and ordered the rest of our selections inside. He got two whole chickens and 3 large sides. He said they didn't have many side selections, only options available that evening were the mashed potatoes, mixed veggies and fried rice. My lomo saltado was dry, cold and not very appealing. I usually love it. The chicken was also pretty bland that day. We wasted a lot of food, I really wish the food was as good as it once was. Not sure what changed but it's something. The inside of the restaurant is also clean, lines are never too long when I go. Customer service is always good.

Carne Asada
Latonya H.

Came here on 11/16/24. Been to this location a couple of times and never had any issues in the past. But today was a different day. I guess they had a large catering order and wasn't prepared for it. I was hungry for there ribs and was told that it was a 45 minute wait. Chicken had a wait time as well. So I decided to on the Carne asada with black beans, rice and green beans. The steak was bland and very disappointing no seasoning and spice no where to be found. I was heavily disappointed since I have Eaten here numerous times. The sides were good which was the saving grace because that steak was an EPIC!!!!!!!!!! Fail. The restaurant is always clean and customer service is good as well. But, that steak was extreme let down.

Peruvian Fried Rice

Similar to Sardis or any other Peruvian chicken place.d I particularly like their rice. I can literally eat it as a meal. The chicken, egg, veggies, and various seasonings are addicting to say the least. Staff is always pleasant.

I pass by this spot whenever I'm in Waldorf. I've noticed that there is always a rack (a lot) of cars in their parking lot. It was just a matter of time before I stepped in their doors. I've never had a bad experience at a Peruvian spot...let's see what they're hittin on... . Where I am: @chickenricowaldorf . Location Reviewed: 3310 Crain Hwy., Waldorf M.D. . Their Steak n Cheese (with onions, provolone, mayo,& steak fries $10.20). DELICIOUS!! Made to order, I'd actually get this again!! Their Fries were DECENT. Their Half Chicken combo (with plantains, a mixed salad, ranch, hot & mild sauce $13.40). STAMP the chicken!! No sauce needed!! Nicely seasoned!! A large Passionfruit Juice ($3.59). STAMP!! I love a homey looking restaurant so I decided to give them a try. Now the inside has two area...the bar area with a few table tops and the other side where you can go to the counter and order and has several tables to sit. I decided to sit at the table tops on the bar side. The bartender came and took my order. I decided to start off with a strawberry margarita. Now, I was kind of disappointed in the margarita because if you asked me I would think it would be made from scratch. It was not...Smdh So the margarita was extremely sweet and tasted artificial. I ended up getting a couple of other drinks ended up being Mai Tai which tasted way better. Now on to the food...shrimp tacos were made with the small shrimps and was plentiful which was good. Just when I asked for cheese it was the queso fresco I believe which was not what I expected. I also ordered steak tacos and the steak was cut in strips like you would find at a Chinese restaurant. Not seasoned at all. The guacamole I ordered with a side of chips didn't have flavor or salt either. I was so disappointed again this restaurant seems to supposedly should have been "authentic" and everything should have tasted homemade and on point. Would I come back no... The side order of jalapeños were grilled good, but the green onions can't remember what they are actually called rates old and were left side like they were sitting around getting soggy. The amount of money I spent compared to what I got...it's one and done for me.

This is my second time coming here, and I came back solely for this frijol con queso pupusa. Maaan that thing is tasty! Especially when you dip it in their salsa . I'm knocking off a star for their carne asada taco. Now y'all know better than to be serving some steak that's dry and unseasoned. It was a shame too because that grilled leek was such a nice touch. I also got a horchata. Decent, but needed more cinnamon. I'll definitely be back for that pupusa though! And wash it down with one of their giant margaritas. Hope this helps!

The service was excellent and accommodating. I was impressed because I know large groups can be difficult to wait on, so was very pleased with the service and how quick they were to get our orders in and us served. We ordered a variety of appetizers, such as the the empanadas, calamari, and garlic shrimp. My favorite items were the empanadas and calamari, which were extra tasty with the accompanying sauces. We also ordered a variety of grilled meats, including the two large Parrillada meat platters and picanha . The accompanying sides we tried were the fries, cheese rice, fried yucca, and plantains. I really liked the plantains, but the cheese rice was not was I expected. It was more like grits than cheesy rice. The meats were cooked to how we requested it, and of course tastes especially good with the sauces. My favorite cuts were the strip steak, beef rib, and picanha. I didn't really care for the sweet breads, but that is a personal preference. Value wise, the Parrillada platters could easily feed 4 - 5 people, so we had plenty of leftovers. I would definitely recommend checking out La Estancia if you enjoy grilled meats!

They were not very busy when we arrived but remained attentive during our entire visit. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. We got a parrillada mixta, which means mixed grilled meats. It was superb! My husband had a cup of coffee, which was also good. Usually, restaurants go for generic coffee, and it's always overcooked. This was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated, music is playing, and there is a bar. It would be a great hang-out spot.
