Chicken Rico was delicious. It's small and busy, but the long line moves quickly, and people were always vacating their tables. We got a whole chicken, yuca frita , fried rice, and mashed potatoes. The chicken was delectable. Yuca was perfectly fried. The mashed potatoes had no flavor and I didn't try the fried rice. Portions are good-sized. Chicken Rico is a nice change of pace chicken place but won't be my go-to spot. I ordered a ribs and chicken (white meat) individual meal. The chicken was juicy but the ribs were not as moist as I would have preferred. They both had the same seasoning on them which was a bit of a letdown, as I would have preferred variety for my taste buds. For the sides I got plantains and steak fries. The plantains were very good, plentiful and quite large compared to what I'm used to receiving at other places. The fries were solid but were lukewarm and not seasoned. Overall it was fine, and the service was ok but uninspired. I will likely be back but, again, only as a change of pace option. read more

They offer rotisserie chicken and sides like rice, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, green beans, creamed spinach, plantains, and more. Today I purchased the quarter white meat rotisserie chicken, green beans, and rice. The food has a lot of flavor, but not too salty. I was so hungry I forgot to snap a picture . Update: Someone has responded to my review, seemingly defending the experience I had. No we did not pick our food up after the recommended time for p/u when I placed the order. We have young children and we like to feed them well before 9 so we definitely didn't come at closing time. Nonetheless as I said the experiences we've had since the fire are definitely less enjoyable. ------------Chicken Rico was once our families favorite no cooking night meal. Once they had that fire and did renovations, we have seen a big change in everything; the gravy is very watery now, the chicken has less flavor, the prices are higher. It's just not the same, unfortunately. In our most recent visit I called ahead and placed an order for Lomo saltado. My sister also placed an order for pick up of half chicken and sides, my husband went to pick up our orders and ordered the rest of our selections inside. He got two whole chickens and 3 large sides. He said they didn't have many side selections, only options available that evening were the mashed potatoes, mixed veggies and fried rice. My lomo saltado was dry, cold and not very appealing. I usually love it. The chicken was also pretty bland that day. We wasted a lot of food, I really wish the food was as good as it once was. Not sure what changed but it's something. Came here on 11/16/24. Been to this location a couple of times and never had any issues in the past. But today was a different day. I guess they had a large catering order and wasn't prepared for it. I was hungry for there ribs and was told that it was a 45 minute wait. Chicken had a wait time as well. So I decided to on the Carne asada with black beans, rice and green beans. The steak was bland and very disappointing no seasoning and spice no where to be found. I was heavily disappointed since I have Eaten here numerous times. The sides were good which was the saving grace because that steak was an EPIC!!!!!!!!!! Fail. The restaurant is always clean and customer service is good as well. When you walk in this place smells amazing, I mean it smells amazing! Even when I came here 10 years ago, it tastes the same. But I will say that the last few times the taste was a bit off. I don't know if they have a different person seasoning the foods, but I know we are all human, Nonetheless, this ia a nice spot to go eat on a budget. They cut your whole chicken into sections if you want quarters or halves, they got you. My favorite side is called Peruvian beans, they are black bens that have a latin flavor to it. And just know when I say a latin flavor, I mean it makes me want to do the Marinera all over the place. And I love the green sauce, it is has a wonderful kick of spice and awesome flavor to it. Whatever you do, whatever you pick on the menu, I assure you it has flavor and get the green sauce. Plus the longer you have the green sauce in your fridge the hotter it gets and the flavor matches it every time. Just be reasonable and don't have it sitting in your fridge for forever, one week is fine. The service definitely I great, they will accommodate you especially if you reciprocate your good manners. It was yummy, ribs were just tough enough I had wrangle the meat off, which is good. Other times I have enjoyed a quarter dark chicken with similar sides. DELICIOUS!!! They are so fast an efficient. Stopped in during the dinner rush. I was worried about the line since I had hungry kids at home. The line moved so quickly and I was very appreciative. We got the large family meal with 2 whole chickens and 5 sides. They had chicken everywhere. There was some cooking behind them and there was a magical drawer they pulled out and had more ready to go. We asked for green beans and plantains and fries as sides. The beans had some kick to it so fair warning. My kids didn't like the spice but that's more for us. The plantains were delicious. They were so sweet and wasn't smooshy.
