I am extremely disappointed with both Silvestre Chicken and Grubhub regarding an order totaling $48.14 that I paid for but never received. I contacted Grubhub to request a refund for the food that was not delivered. Grubhub told me that I needed to obtain the refund from the merchant. I then went directly to Silvestre Chicken to try to resolve the issue, but the merchant refused to refund my money and stated that the problem was Grubhub's responsibility because they handled the delivery. So where does that leave the customer? I am out $48.14, I received no food, and neither company is willing to take responsibility for making the situation right. Whether the failure occurred with the restaurant or the delivery service should be resolved between Silvestre Chicken and Grubhub--not at the customer's expense. I paid for a product and delivery service that I did not receive. What is most frustrating is being sent back and forth between two businesses, with each pointing the finger at the other while my money remains gone. Customer service should involve finding a solution, not simply shifting responsibility. I cannot recommend Silvestre Chicken or Grubhub based on this experience. Customers should be aware that if an order is not delivered, they may find themselves caught between the merchant and the delivery service trying to determine who is responsible for issuing the refund. Perfect place to grab food if you're craving quesadillas, on a budget and want left overs. They have quesadillas, fajitas, tacos, pupusas, and even subs. For sides, French fries, yellow rice, black beans, plantain. Some Silvestre locations offer a few different menu items. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and French fries. The quesadilla came with a salad and sour cream but you can switch out the sour cream or salad for another side like rice or fries. Food came out so hot I had to wait for it to cool before eating it so that's a plus. Hot fresh French fries made me happy . And the cheese pull!!! Food was flavored just right. I do not like my food heavily salted but it did have perfect flavor. The home made sour cream was pretty good. Portion of food was very generous so unless you are starving you should have enough left over for another serving. They also have mild and hot sauces as well. You can add drinks like Everfresh and Calypso to your order or even rum cake. There are two small tables located inside but I wouldn't recommend eating in, there's a lot of traffic coming in and out and the place is pretty small. Parking is located directly in front. I order red snapper from many different places and I've never had it broken up and mushy and greasy like this. If the cook couldn't make it they shouldn't have plain and simple. I like like anything they make "right then and there". Like the quesadillas, tacos and the like. Like others mentioned the rotisserie chicken can be dry but that can happen pretty much any place like this. What I don't like is the way they process their yuca. I don't know if it's frozen or fresh but both times I ordered it it has always had that woody fibrous center that most places cut out. I also think it's screwed up you have to pay for the small sauce cups you would ordinarily get with your meal. I mean I can understand if you want 5 or 6 of each type but... Maybe I'm spoiled. I had never been to a silvestre nor have I heard of it. I didn't even know this place was here in Waldorf until the other day, when I was using yelp to find something different to eat for dinner than the usual places we've gone to. First, I'll start by saying that I've been to probably every Peruvian restaurant in the dmv. This restaurant shouldn't be labeled as Peruvian here, because the only thing kind of Peruvian is the rotisserie chicken. But as a Salvadorian/Mexican restaurant, it is pretty good! Note that it is a carry out only style restaurant. We stayed and ate, but they don't have plates/trays and they have very limited seating. There were only 2 employees that didn't seem to care much about impressing customers, but they didn't need to really because people were nonstop coming in and getting food to go the whole time we were there. Their menu has a nice variety and it is cheaper than other similar restaurants in the area. I ordered the two steak tacos and my husband got the quarter chicken with yuca and plantains. We only had to wait about 5 minutes for the food, and everything was extremely hot and fresh. The tacos were pretty good. Flour tortillas with carne asada steak, cheese and pico de gallo. They're not what I'm used to, but I liked them. I think the steak was a little too fatty, but the flavor was good. They didn't have any lime, but the pico de gallo made up for it. The quarter chicken meal was also really good. The chicken had a lot of flavor, the sauces it came with were delicious. The only complaint is that the cleanliness of the kitchen could be improved. I think their roasted chicken is always dry. I've tried it many times and even with dark meat, it seems overcooked. Their tilapia tacos and steak tacos are two of my faves. Their burritos are huge (think 'share' when you buy) and tasty. The quesadilla was surprisingly a little dry, but they give sauces you can throw on it to make it better. The steak salad was just big chunks of lettuce and again, crazy enough, on the dry side. I haven't tried the other menu items. The tacos and burritos satisfy me well enough. This was my first time eating from Silvestre Chicken. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas which came with yellow rice & salad. We also picked up an order of plantains & bean and cheese pupusa's. The enchiladas looked & tasted like they just took two large uncooked tortilla, threw a few unclean baby shrimp, thick slice of tomato, bell peppers, onions and cheese in it, folded it in half and poured some tomato sauce over it with a little grated cheese. They put the salad and rice under the enchiladas. Who puts hot food on top of the salad; it should have been in a separate container. I took two bites and couldn't eat that soggy mess. I wasted $10 on that meal. The pupusa's were greasy and the plantains were ok. It was a good thing that my husband also ordered a rotisserie chicken from here because that was the only thing that was good. I can now say that I tried Silvestre Chicken and once was enough for me. For this place to be right across the street from me it's great :) I do like their shrimp tacos. It's filled with a lot of tiny shrimp but it's still fulfilling. The rotisserie chicken taco was ok but I was told that the chicken breast taco was more popular. I also ordered their half chicken entree with yellow rice and Yucca. I wasn't very impressed. This place has good food. The three star rating is due to the fact that whenever I come here and ask for a additional sauce I am charged various prices. Depending on who is at the cash register, at the time, the sauce can be 25 cents or 50 cents. There has also been times when the cashier will charge me for an additional sauce but if someone else asks for an additional sauce they give it to them for free. When someone asks for an additional sauce the charge should be the same no matter who is at the register. read more
