Chicken Shack has the best fried chicken and turkey wing plates ever! Awesome service and a family ambiance. They sale fried chicken everyday, and Turkey wing plates on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Chicken Shack also sells other lunch plate choices throughout the week Monday-Friday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM or until sold out. I used to visit them every Tuesday and Thursday when I worked less than 5 minutes from the Acadian location.

I had the pleasure of eating at Chicken Shack during my summer road trip through Louisiana and Mississippi last year. The fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had, and the sweet potato pie was also top tier. Service was solid, and it's a no frills Southern-style cafe. The place was absolutely buzzing with activity during my visit as customers constantly streamed in and out to place and pick up their to go orders. This restaurant is a national treasure! I'll have to find an excuse to return to Baton Rouge again sometime soon.

2 piece dark with Macaroni & Cheese, Candied Yams and a roll - $15

I heard about this place on TikTok.... This was a TikTok fail...lol. It's over rated & definitely over priced to be in the hood. This is my $15 meal!!

A great place for late night eats in baton rouge. The service here was fast and friendly. Very happy that i stopped by to support a local business and find a spot the locals enjoy. The chicken here was super crispy and juicy. Not everyday as a out of state person to see a pork chop sandwich but that too was soo damn good, not dry, nice and cispy and juicy. Definitely stop and check this place out!

I really enjoyed my meal here. The inside was very clean. The chicken was hot, fresh and crispy. The shrimp were delicious as well. The sides all needed a little salt but other than that were great. And the sweet potato pie was so good! I would come back for sure.

We wanted to make sure we hit a hole in the wall chicken spot before we left and the chicken shack seemed like the perfect place. Super friendly staff, everyone enjoyed their food and the prices were very affordable. Aside from the regular items be sure to check the board, they seem to add things depending on the day. This time I was able to get the meatloaf, I'm not sure if that's a regular item or not. Very good nonetheless. The cornbread was just Ok and the peach cobbler wasn't the best, but everything else was well worth it. Make sure to try their lemon pies.

One of our go-to spots when in Baton Rouge. Been here 3 years in a row and it never disappoints! Fresh crispy chicken cooked to perfection with great seasoning & taste. Can't go wrong with the red beans & rice for the side. Give this place a try when in the area if you're looking for some really good fried chicken.

The breakfast is good and cheap! Just don't get the bacon. It's like they leave it sitting in the grease all morning.

Best fried chicken in Baton Rouge. You need to go here. I burned my mouth trying to eat my hot out of the fryer chicken strips.

We took our mom here for her birthday in early June. The service was okay at this restaurant. There was nothing that stood out in particular about the service, it was pretty average. The food at this restaurant all tasted great. I tried their fried green tomatoes appetizer as well as their golden fried alligator which was delicious. I got the jerk fried chicken with red beans and rice and smoked sausage for my entree and it was good. I was expecting my chicken to be spicy or to at least taste like jerk seasoning but it didn't at all. It was more like a BBQ sauce with no heat at all. The menu was also very lacking to me, we all felt that it was missing items or needed more. I wish there was more of a variety of items to choose from especially for those allergic to shellfish or vegetarian.

The inside is clean, simple, and contemporary. But the main thing about this place is the food, it's pretty special. The food isn't special because it's fancy, in fact it's pretty simple. It's definitely homestyle, and super fresh. It's freshly made to order, and your order will come out quickly. As the name would suggest, they have seafood, both fried and grilled. It can come on bread or without bread. All are good choices. It's piping hot and delicious, and can come with a variety of sides, fries, onion rings, even sweet potato fries. These are all tasty and freshly made. Usually one can get a combo with one's sandwich, which includes fries and a drink. This is nicely priced. However, in addition to the seafood, they make a really good burger. Again, the freshness and simplicity make it special. It's also a great value! Then there are the salads and plates. We are back after5 years and we are happy to report that Cocha is thriving!!!!…read more We were hoping that the grilled Parmesan coated oysters were on the menu but they weren't However, it gave us an opportunity to explore the menu and we were thankful we did. For appetizers, we had the cachapas with pork which were delicious. Recommended app for sure! My wife had an Indian curry with cabbage, purple rice, chick peas and spinach-wow!!!!!! Probably the creamiest tasting curry ever! You could add a protein but wifey went with the vegetarian option and it was great! It wasn't perfect bc there were some chick peas that weren't cooked all the way and were crunchy I went with the mussels in a pesto cream sauce with potatoes and it was sooooo delicious!!! Again not perfect as some mussels had that sandy/gritty taste which I didn't like it most of the them were fine. The ambience here is great! The owner really has thought out every detail to make sure you have an amazing experience. From the decor, music, staff-you can tell there was a a lot of thought, care and love put into it. Our server was very attentive and made great recommendations. Fair warning you'll probably need a nap afterward. The restaurant has a sharp, modern aesthetic and is consistently spotless. The Service: This is one of the few places where the service is truly flawless. The staff is prompt, accommodating, and friendly every single time. My only small knocks on the place is Parking and music. Be prepared to pay for a spot and walk a couple of blocks. Occasionally, the music is a bit too high, which can make having a conversation a little hard. Overall the best lunch stop for downtown.

Please avoid this place…read more Went for Restaurant Week and was completely disappointed. Food was not good...grease bombs and burnt cake that wasn't worth the calories. We will never be going back. Ambiance: The real estate of this establishment is wasted on this restaurant. Beautiful downtown location with a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that look out at pretty foliage and the I-10 bridge. The interior? Dirty, cracking, grease splattered walls with dusty canvas paintings. Service: our waiter was very kind and attentive and should be working in a nicer establishment. The hostess was abrupt and lacked personality. Food: The Food at Capital City Grill has always been inconsistent at best erring on 'not great' but in an endearing way. Like leaning in to watching a terrible movie. You know it's a bad film, but you appreciate it because it's bad, which makes it almost good. Always felt this way about Capital City Grill until today. What we just had turned us off completely from ever returning.

Soft lighting and subdued music gave it an intimate feel. We decided to do an assortment of appetizers and desserts so we could try more things. We opted for 4 appetizers, the famous bread, a cup of a soup and two desserts with cappuccinos to complete our meal. You do have to pay for bread here, but trust me, you're going to want to. We got some red sauce to go with it, but we both personally preferred the bread without it. Next we got a cup of lobster bisque. The flavor was good , and there was a surprising heat to it, which honestly made me want to keep eating it. For appetizers, we ordered the seared ahi tuna, the eggplant stacks, the toasted ravioli and the beef manicotti. However, they were out of the manicotti so Joel suggested the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and I'm glad he did! I'm not a big mushroom fan, but I gladly ate these and would order them again. My complaint is that there are only three ... and I was sharing them. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the Italian brownie cake. The crème brûlée was perfection and the brownie cake was deliciously rich and satisfying. There are so many dishes that we want to try that we can't wait to go back!
