Came back here for my 2nd time (after the 1st many years ago) for a K9 Rouge Rescue event and was impressed with everything! The staff was so helpful for us setting up space for the pups, the food was delicious, and the setting is just precious (as it was the first time I went). My favorite find was probably the fruit-infused lemonades! I couldn't get enough!! I hope next time I come they offer alligator corndogs again as I was really hoping to try that out. This was our first time at Frankie's and trying it out for restaurant week made us want to add it to our regular lunch rotation. The restaurant isn't big, but has more seating than it looks like from the outside. When we walked in, we were greeted by Harman and he made some excellent recommendations for us. He told us what his favorites were on both the restaurant week menu and the regular menu. The boudin egg rolls were good and the sauce on top of it was the perfect pairing for it. The Mac and cheese and was so rich and it was a larger portion that I was expecting. The shrimp wrap was a nice balance to the heaviness of the Mac and cheese and it was a refreshing taste. Not pictured, but the sweet potato fries for dessert were delicious and the caramel sauce on them is something I would buy bottles of. Everything is made to order, and with the amount of fried food on the restaurant week menu, it did take a while for us to get our food and we had to get our dessert to go to get back to work. I went here with my Bf because I got a voucher on WAFB's Foodie Fix, and I am very glad that we ended up going here. We went around 5/6 pm on a Friday, which was early for dinner and it was obviously not that crowded. We were greeted quickly at the counter where you place your order and the lady who helped us was very nice. I loved the decor and vibe in the restaurant. I got the Boudin Balls and the Chuck Norris Dawg and my bf got the Italian dawg. The portion sizes were huge and I ended up having leftovers. I really thought I would like this place. But I didn't like it. Got the crawdaddy dog and it wasn't even fixed right. Said they didn't have crawfish so they' just put some cold lobster on top. Frankie's is part of MajorMenus for our office, and I'm glad i ordered from them a few times. The OG Cheeseburger is enough for two meals and it's super tasty. It's cooked perfectly. I have ordered a couple of various dogs - I can't remember which ones but I love the variation and the different flavors and textures, and next up, I want to try the wraps. All in all, pretty good. Fun and funky with great food and staff. We are always out to find new and interesting lunch spots in BR. Frankie's was our most recent find. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and realized it was right next to Parrains, one of our favorites. If you exit the interstate coming from downtown, it is right past Parrains for reference. The building is small and resembles a cool outdoor space one would find in a friend's backyard. I liked it so much that I would love to have a friend with a place like this. If you have an outdoor area like this, holla at your boy. We should be friends. The food is simple and hot dog based. I got a Chuck Norris and bratwurst. Both were very good and much higher quality than a hot dog you would make at home. I finished the meal off with an order of chili cheese tots. This was a good choice. My sister loves Frankie's Dawg House and usually makes a point of stopping in at least once when she's in town. Her go to is the Chuck Norris which is topped with chili, cheese, bacon, onions and jalapeños - that a lot of toppings. I would just usually get a regular hotdog, chili cheese, nothing special for me. Their sitting area has a nice cozy feel, not what you would expect for my hotdog place. Great service as well. The last time we were there I ordered two corndogs for a change of pace, and the corndog wasn't cooked long enough and the center was a bit cold. They ended up making me two more, no questions asked. I've spoken with the owner a few times. Very nice gentleman. I even made a YouTube video here once and talked to one of the employees about the cat which is actually named Frankie. If I recall correctly, Frankie's is actually named after a cat! You also find more interesting choices on the menu. There's a deer hotdog and alligator and such. Great casual spot! On our way to florida we stopped here, and it was only 2 minutes off of the highway. It was a fun vibe and it had an air conditioned little sports bar outdoor patio that was really cute and fun! The place is bigger than it looks on the outside for sure! I got the Chicago dog, and it was good! My husband also enjoyed the breading on his corn dog. The tater tots had a great creole seasoning as well. While visiting Baton Rouge I noticed this place mom and pop cafe tucked behind Magpie Cafe. I haven't had a #hotdog in awhile and it's been even longer since I've had one that I didn't make at home myself. I wasn't impressed. The minimum requirement I have for restaurants is that the food is temperature hot but you won't find that here. The hot dog, chili or cheese was barely above room temp. I was looking forward to the Nathan's dog but I won't be back especially at these food prices. I liked the free WiFi and $5 Bud Light aluminum bottle. Outdoor patio seating was cool with TVs but I need good food with atmosphere. Pro tip: Don't expect to use the $1 off Yelp Check-In offer. Eek. Maybe this place is wonderful, but some of us will never know. The aggressive guy who answers the phone and cancels delivery orders is dawg blocking us! This review is for the vegans. I ordered two veggie dawgs. I made a note/reminder on my dawgs that said "VEGAN." Because three other dawgs in the order were not the veggie dawgs. The order got canceled, but it was initially accepted. That means it could have been the driver, so I placed it again. It was canceled with a notice stating the notes could not be filled. I'd asked for their peach mango sauce, which isn't an option online. And one of the nonveggie dawgs said it came topped with fried or tots but had no option to select tots so a note for tots was left. I wasn't sure what note was the issue. I wanted some dawgs so I called to ask. It was a bewildering phone call. The issue was because I left a note reminding them the veggie dawgs are vegan! (Right? Who wants accidental bovine- cheese on their veggie dawg? Also, maybe they'll be awesome and label them so we don't have to guess what's what). The guy was heated. He said I CANNOT MAKE THAT ORDER WITH THOSE NOTES. I asked if the veggie Dawg is vegan. I calmly said, online, it says it's 100% vegan. I thought oops, maybe I made a mistake. He said it doesn't say that online. And he did a lot of circling around, but I did gather he has a tofu dog, and yes, it's considered vegan, but I didn't order his veggie dawg. I said I did, but I labeled it vegan. He said he refused to fulfill the order with the note on there. That is, he refuses to make me his vegan dawg since I called it vegan. Haha. The call ended. I quickly went to the internet to figure out how / where / why I thought this guy had a vegan dawg. I found them on Vegan Friendly Foods initially. But turns out the vegan description is on Uber. I called back to let him know it's labeled vegan on Uber and he can let them know and they will fix that. I said ohKay I just want you know, on Uber you have it listed as 100% vegan. Alligator, crawfish, deer, polish and the ole standby Nathans hot dogs! The dawgs come with a variety of pres preselected combinations, of you can build your own dog! Not in the mood for a hot dogs, that is ok. Frankies has burgers and melts too. Sides are limits (fries, tots, slaw, mac n cheese), but they have beer, hard seltzer and if your lucky, Margaritas! I've have 3 dawgs so far : Chicago, Brat and the Chuck Norris. All have been served fast, hot and chocked full of toppings. The later makes them a bit hard to eat and messy, but sooo good. I thought this would be a fun place to stop off, as we were traveling through Baton Rouge. I really enjoyed the Chicago Dawg and wish I had ordered two. I also ordered a lobster and was very disappointed, as there was a hot dog in it and I did not care for the sauce, at all. Now I took a picture of the menu that does not say a hot dog topped with a few pieces of lobster. I don't think lobster and hot dog go together, so if I had seen it on the menu like that ... I definitely would not have ordered. The place itself is cute, but not necessarily cleaned well. We had to have them wipe our table down again and the chairs that we used were not comphy. There is an assortment of seating. We sat at an older black iron table with what seemed to be a worn out spring in the cushion or seat. Would I come back? There is a whole list of menu items to choose from which are all drastically different from one another. In this area, there is a few drink dispensers and usually a cooler with drinks such as water and soda. There is also a cooler with some ice cream here as well. Every time that I come here, I am always greeted with amazing service. The people in the front are nice, friendly, and helpful in taking your order and also in talking to you and guiding you around the restaurant. The people that take your order also serves you as well and have always come in with our orders correct and with a smile to boot. I have never had a bad experience here. The food here is truly amazing. I have had a lot of the different sausages here and have liked all of them. I have a hard time choosing between the different types, because it's all so good. The unique flavors that are put into each dog is just amazing to taste. I have never had a more quality gourmet hot dog before. The sides are also really good. I can't get enough of the Mac and cheese or the tater tots. On the issue of pricing, it all really depends on you. Some of the dogs are 6-9 dollars and with a side and a drink could be up to 12 dollars. It's not the worst deal as the dogs are pretty sizable and would be a full meal for some. However, I have been told that the prices seem a bit steep for some. Personally, I think that the prices are reasonable as the quality is just really good. Additionally, you can opt into their app and get rewards towards your purchases. Eventually, you can make enough to get a free meal. If you are a regular, you should get the app to accumulate those points. It really helps! I would definitely recommend all of you sausage/ hot dog lovers to come here and try it. But if want a big, tasty dog, overflowing with wonderful toppings - so much that you can't get it all in your mouth and you need a fork and knife to get it all - this is your place. Tater tots were hot and perfectly crispy - not soggy, not greasy. Just perfect. And the slaw is crunchy, rough cut, with a creamy dressing - a perfect cold, creamy, crunchy complement to the hot, crispy tots. The hot dogs are big, thick, and good The Chuck Norris dog is really good. Not too much chili, with sautéed onions and bacon. Another perfect combination. And the Chicago dog is an excellent version of the classic. Neon relish, sport peppers, and all. Maybe could use a bit more tomato and celery salt, but it is a great hot dog. And definitely worthy of a fork and knife unless you want it all on your shirt. Counter service was good, food was delivered to our table quickly.
