Combo basket - enough to share!

I always forget Goodwood Grill is here. But we were in the area today, so we stopped in for lunch. I had the combo seafood basket - hot and fresh, with enough food to share. My husband had the BLT, and can I tell you, it came with a PILE of bacon. I wish I'd gotten a picture of it, and that may be what I get when we go back. Because we will go back, oh yes!

    NOT CATFISH!

I don't know what this is, but it's NOT CATFISH. If this is what's being served, I won't back. Then I had to wait almost 20 mins for a called in order and there were maybe 5 customers.

I took a gamble on Goodwood Grill for delivery awhile back and I've enjoyed it so much that I've been going back since. I've always known this place was loved by locals but after trying the food, I completely understand why. It's not fancy food by any stretch, but the kind of comfort food that Baton Rouge faithful has been supporting for years. And just how much support? This place is hoppin' at lunch time, almost daily. It's even more crowded on the weekends and it gets a bit claustrophobic in here quickly. There are a handful of tables for 4 in the main dining room, with a smaller room in the back to handle the additional crowds. The format is simple enough: order at the counter and get seated. If the latter doesn't happen by a certain time, it may not happen at all. Hence, delivery / takeout for me all the way (#1). The food doesn't look like much, like an average spruced up diner version of sandwiches, burgers, and fried food. But looks only go so far, the taste was good enough to get me wanting more. Overall, everything was very tasty and I can't complain. The portions are southern hearty and the prices are pretty good, especially during their popular lunch specials. The burger was juicy and cooked just right, the fried catfish was well seasoned, and the gumbo was outstanding. And of course, the service has always been excellent. They know how to cut the wait time down and are able to handle phone / online orders with ease. They have never made a fuss about substitutions and are quick to make recommendations for what's going to be sure bet food wise. ______________ (#1) Plus, pandemic.

Quick little spot, fills up fast. The lunch spaghetti isn't terrible, but not the best, but does have a good size portion.

I ordered their jalapeño burger which came with crispy fried jalapeño slices on top of a burger and I loved it. It was seasoned very well and I loved my fries too. The meal was a great size and was very filling! I also had their lemon drop martini and it was sweet with a nice delicious punch.

Because Sunday's there is happy hour until 5, I got the bottomless mimosas for $12, which came out to four drinks for me. A great deal I think! My friend and I weren't starving, but we wanted a snack, so we decided to split a burger between the two of us. We decided on the fried pickle burger, which came with ranch and fried pickles on the burger. I'm usually not adventurous when it come to burgers, but I was excited to try, since I loved fried pickles. The burger is pretty big, so it was defiantly enough for us to split. I thought the fried pickle burger was delicious! The ranch wasn't too heavily poured on, and the fried pickles were seriously a great touch. The patty was juicy and tasted so good. I love these fries, and they were cooked to perfection for me. I can't wait to come back and be more adventurous with my burger selections haha.

I saw Iverstines in a YouTube clip and it looked intriguing. Apparently it's intriguing to lots of people because it was packed when we went. Despite the crowd, the wait was brief and the staff was friendly and keeping people moving. On our first visit we got sandwiches. The Cuban was a great choice. It was everything a Cuban should be. I would've liked more mustard but it was the best Cuban I've had in BR. Next trip we did a plate lunch. At the recommendation of a dude in line, I got the Tri tip. Solid choice. The green beans on the side were very good. In addition to the lunches, Iverstine is a full butcher. I will report back when I try some of their pre packed stuff. PS. They sell a hat with a piece of bacon on it that says Thiccccc. If anyone wants to get me that as a Christmas gift, I promise to change my profile photo to me in that hat.

The decor screams pure Americana and is one of the biggest draws for the many patrons that come through daily. My favorite part is their juicy burgers. Pair it with their crispy fries and their old school milkshakes, and one has a complete meal. The burgers are hearty, and the portions are substantial. They also have salads, other sandwiches (tuna is my go-to), and various options for loaded fries. The other awesome part are the prices. Minus the double cheeseburger, there are no items that exceed $10 on the entire menu. The staff is young and always enthusiastic, and they play a big part in making this place such a destination. Whoever put these two items together is a genius! The chewy, meaty, crunchiness of the cracklins along with the gooey, saltiness of the cheese curds is the perfect combo. It's like Peanut butter and Jelly! Peas and Carrots! Beavis and Butthead! Ok I may have went too far but they are great. The beer is good too. Agile usually has 15 or so different beers or seltzers on tap. What I like about Agile is they don't just have 12 different IPA's (although I am a huge IPA guy) a stout and a blonde. They have all kinds of styles which is a good change of pace. Upon my last visit I had a Stout, An American Wheat, an IPA and a Krystalweisse (German light beer) in my flight. All were really good but the Krystalweisse was surprisingly good in that it was both flavorful and still light. Another plus for Agile is they are in an industrial park that includes 2 distilleries and another brewery. So, get you some curds and cracklins then get shmangled. Just call an Uber.
