Food wise, my favorite dish is the Borracho Wrap, which I definitely recommend getting with both of the house made sauces at the end. I think that this, other than ordering the quarter, half, or whole chicken themselves, is the best way to experience the menu, as it lets you try the chicken, sauces, vegetables, and yucca fires all in one dish. Plus it is a pretty hefty portion, which is nice. Drink wise, it is hard to go wrong here, but this is definitely the place to go as a unique stop for both locals and visitors. I can only speak to the bar portion as we didn't get any food while we were there, but the drinks we received for the price we paid was excellent especially in this part of town! If you haven't been to the bar at Chicken + Whiskey before then you probably just didn't know that it was there. Walk past the counter all the way to back where it looks like there's a giant cooler door. Wander through the door and boom! You're in the bar. There's not a ton of seating and it's pretty dark, but it's a pretty nice atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night and they still had drink specials which is almost unheard of. Buy one get one whiskey? Done. I had the 'Becky Got Back' drink and it was pretty good, but I'm not sure I'd get it again. The Peruvian chicken was juicy,tender, and full of flavor, while the yuca was fried perfectly (the added seasoning gave it that extra oomph). It was definitely filling and awesome. I discovered Chicken + Whiskey on Uber Eats when i was on call at work and starving. I'd seen it a thousand times but based on the name had no clue that it was Peruvian grilled chicken! Lol. But when my food arrived...omg It was like a cup of ice water appearing in the desert! The food was so good! The chicken is season so well and down to the bone! It also has that perfect crispy char you love about Peruvian chicken. And it's never overly greasy. The sides are just as good. I will say that i don't love the flavor of their black beans. They're missing that yummy brininess I'm used to but not necessarily bad. Otherwise, the yuca fries, different arroz (Chaufa and Congri), and plantains are all soooooo good! What keeps me coming back is how consistent the food is. I've never ordered via Uber eats or dined in and not loved everything on my plate! And the price point is so good for the quantity of food you get. I usually make 2 meals of the half chicken combo. Ugh just so good! Not bad for a late night bite. I heard they have a rep for the longest line but ordering and the wait was a breeze. My boyfriend and I ordered, found a spot, and enjoyed our food. But of course things couldn't be perfect. I ordered a soft drink and the machine was completely flat. I also didn't necessarily like (just my preference) how people are right in line while you're eating. The line for for Speakeasy ( in the back) was out the door but they have some great drinks! They even allow you to bring the food in the back. I ordered the half chicken and three sides... it's more then enough for two meals! Chicken was cooked well keeping in all the flavor and juice. I had to order the Yuka fries cause who doesn't love a carb! I also ordered the corn salad it's delish! I wasn't a fan of the rice/ black beans... seemed dry as if it had been sitting out a while. My friend and I came here to try both the chicken and whiskey Friday night for, and we were highly impressed! We started at the restaurant section, and split a half chicken (dark meat) between the two of us, with yuca fries and plantains as our sides. It was only about $14-15 total for the two of us to share. The chicken was seasoned well and roasted perfectly, and we totally demolished our portions of it. I tried both sauces that you could get to go with it- the mild one still had a bit of a kick but was more creamy, while the spicy one was tangy and hot. I liked using the spicy one for the chicken and used the mild one for my yuca fries. The plantains came with a honey syrup and were very good, but the syrup kind of demolished the paper between our food and tray. It was all counter service for the restaurant part, and I have no complaints though we did have to wait some for fresh yuca fries (it was worth the wait). After eating, we made our way to the freezer-looking door at the back of the restaurant and walked in to find ourselves at the speakeasy-style whiskey bar. The bar section is definitely easy to miss and has a totally different vibe from the restaurant. My friend and I both had the Passport Program coupon book, so we got BOGO deals on the cocktails. I tried the Donde Esta la Becky (vodka, pineapple juice, grapefruit) and the Best Boliv It (Singani, strawberries, lime), while my friend had mezcal and rum cocktails. Our bartender, Julia, was cool AF and super helpful when we asked her what cocktails she recommended. I would totally trust her to guide me through the extensive whiskey list, and she crafted our cocktails like a pro. Since we had the Passport Program deal we got our drinks at a great price, but they would have easily been worth the full cost. I'll definitely return for more delicious chicken and drinks in the future, and highly recommend both the restaurant and bar for anyone looking for a chill dinner with convinient drinks after! read more
