I've been trying to make it down here for some time now, so we decided to stop by here on a sunny day after work. Came here on a Saturday and there was no wait line so that was good. Ordered the Pollo Frito Sandwich and it was pretty underwhelming. The fried chicken wasn't very flavorful and everything about the sandwich was just okay. The only thing I thought was special and interesting was the bread that they used for the sandwich. Great spot. There is a restaurant area in the front with a good amount of seating and then like a "hidden"/speakeasy bar in the back, through the freezer door. The food is tasty and portioned well. The bar has a great selection of cocktails and a smaller version of their menu available. You cannot take food from the front to the bar in the back however. The bar has many interesting cocktail options, some even with plantain on the rim. The chicken was seasoned well and the green sauce was a great addition to add a little kick to it. The plantains were also incredibly delicious. The only thing I wish was that we could take some of the yummy items in the front to the bar in the back or that the menu in the back had more items that matched the front menu! The name is a bit misleading, while there is a bar but it was practically hidden at the back of the restaurant behind a door that looked like to belonged to a walk-in fridge, and the front of house doesn't serve any whiskey. The food itself was good; We both got a wrap, but despite the flavors being really good, the chicken seemed to have been slow-cooked a bit too long as it was losing its firmness and getting mushy, making it almost pasty as you ate it. A bit of a snafu occurred when I was trying out the sauces that were available at the eating benches - The squeeze bottle's top plopped off and tablespoons worth of the mayo concoction spilled on my wrap. I was able to wipe off most of it, but it left my hand covered in the oily sauce. Out of the array of Peruvian chicken choices in the DMV, Chicken + Whiskey definitely stands out for the quality and its unique menu. Recommend getting the classic pollo a la brasa. The chicken is tasty, juicy and falls right off the bone. The picante and amarillo sauces add even more flavor to the slow-cooked chicken, and with two sides, this will fill you up. The side serving portions are fairly large as well, and the prices aren't bad at all for what you get. Next time I would probably get one veggie side to balance out all the starch and carbs! My friend got the pollo a la brasa wrap, enjoyed it and got super full too. They have a pretty good South American drink selection too; couldn't resist grabbing a soda. I only peeked into the bar/speakeasy located in the back of the restaurant, but it seems like a fun place to check out for late night. No food from the restaurant is allowed, but they do serve light bites at the bar. You could also take your drink from the bar into the dining area. The best Peruvian chicken I have ever had. I have ordered food from this place online for delivery one time and really liked it, so when the other day we were randomly passing it, I figured give it a try in the restaurant as well. The long line of people waiting for their order to be ready and a bunch of people sitting outdoor next to the street in their patio eating food also motivated me more. The place is very similar to other Peruvian chicken places. You order first to someone who is cutting the chicken. We ordered 1/4 of dark chicken which comes with 2 sides. For the side, we had Basmati Rice, Escabeché, and fried plantains. After cutting the chicken the guy added some sauce on top of the chicken which I forgot to ask what it is but was pretty amazing. We got our food and went to eat in the patio. They have a lot of tables so we found one and sat. I like the happy atmosphere outside. The chicken here is very amazing and they modified yellow sauce is very good. The only issue with this place is that they need to up their game in sides. I wish they had green rice and more varieties in their sides. All in all I was really happy with the food and service and will come back for more! read more

I ordered a wrap (polo brass) and arepitas (hush puppies). What I liked most was the plantain in the wrap. For the arepitas, the sauce I applied made them more tasty. The overall portion was a bit small for the price--I was expecting them to be heavier on the sides, but I was full at the end. And they have Guarana, a Brazilian staple soda that reminds me of my childhood (my grandmother was from Brazil). Service is fine for a quick-service restaurant, and the food came out quickly. I was a fan of their lime vinaigrette -Sweet Plantains: no complaints as it tasted like other Peruvian spots -Peperonata Criolla: This was probably my favorite side. It contained of jalapeños, zucchinis, and bell peppers tossed in a thick red smoky sauce. -Guacamole with Plantain Chips: tasted extremely fresh and the plantain chips had a delicious hint of lime to it The portion size was generous as our meal could have fed four people. So after ordering here once though a food delivery service, I decided to go in and check this place out with a co worker. The service was very friendly and fast. The restaurant is pretty busy and had a great vibe. There is also a back bar that you can go to that has a different selection of beers, I thought the concept was pretty cool because it looks like a freezer but you open the door and there is a party going on. I ordered the pollo frito sandwich with yuca fries and plantains all were super delicious, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. What a find! I love rotisserie chicken and this is a chipotle version for it. (Definitely better than Chipotle). You get in line to order food; you can get different portions/sizes of chicken (white or dark) and choose two sides to go with it.
